Err... There aren't bows in SAO...

On that note, there are throwing picks in the game. You could always throw those at people :D

@NecroMac, for your very first post, multiple weapons would not confuse a monster. Monsters in the game have a set AI they follow and your weapon of choice would probably have no change in it. Of course, PvP would be different but looking at the game itself, changing weapon in the middle of a fight would be... a bad choice.

Yes i'm quite aware that changing weapon while in fight would be pretty much impossible(without some kind of special Sword skill like Kirito Dual Blades). More like that i see heavy armored mob, i use armor penetrating weapon, for faster mobs i'd use lighter/faster weapons. Simply said: Using the most effective weapon for situation.

In every MMO that I'm interested in, I usually dive into it (no pun intended) with friends who are also interested. Thus, I would HOPE to play the game with them. In many other MMOs, however, I usually don't play enough and would fall behind. Thus, I usually soloed everything in almost every single MMO that I've played.

This will obviously change though, with SAO. I would quickly try my best to get my friends together and work towards a goal. I know a certain individual who's usually very competitive and knows how to level pretty fast in most MMOs he plays so I think it would be vital to be with him. I personally would hope to be on the front lines because that's just how I am. Even if I knew it was a death game, I would want to do the best that I can. That's the spirit of MMO gamers.

If none of my friends were trapped though, I would solo. I normally can approach anyone fairly easily but I have always hated being in debt to anyone. I would work hard so that I can help everyone else though. If I soloed, I know I probably would not be able to get to the point where I can be in the front lines.

As far as using weapons, I'm not too sure. I probably would use a sword. Naturally, I would try every kind of weapon possible. Seeing that I have been in Tae Kwon Do for several years, I would probably want to go with some kind of martial art build if it was possible. If I can recall though, I don't think there was any which would be a little saddening.

Not too sure how I would advance in the game, but I'm sure I'd try my best to get better and help out anyone I could in SAO.

As a person that has been playing MMO. I know what I will be doing in S.A.O. but the fact that it's a death game may make me take caution.

In any MMO, I tried to get self-sufficiency. I will take up smelting and tailoring and I will go for long blade. I will fight monsters to get the drops needed to create such things. Perhaps later I will take on furniture making too.

This also means that since I want to be jack of all trade, I will suck in every portion. I never look at guides to efficient farming and I only use my long time being online to my advantage (giving up homework and study times after school). However in S.A.O it is different as everyone has equal amount of time. This would lead to me being in lower ranges.

Also since this is a VRMMO, I will try new stuff. Perhaps like making a bow or a gun. Since the game is as realistic as possible I may recreate some of the mechanic with poor results. However this means a ranged attack that may allow me to lower mobs hp enough for 1 hit when it comes near. Since I have distance I can always equip my sword when it comes close enough. Since this tactic will cost money and time my level will be all time low XD

Then again I may choose the ninja way and it will take weeks before I destroyed that stupid rock.

I have a tendency to start solo, so the first few levels would be a bit hazardous, given the 'death' condition. But after a slow and steady start, I would build myself up to the point of self-sufficiency. I would probably wield a large two-handed broadsword that would allow me to make strong strikes and blocks, though at the cost of mobility, which would be hampered further with medium to heavy armor. (So I'll be able to give and take damage, but don't expect me to win any sprints)

I'm not the one to rush to the top nor go for the limelight, so I probably wouldn't be on the front lines most of the time. After witnessing numerous player deaths, I would work to find like-minded individuals to create a small-to-medium sized guild. The purpose of the Guild would be to guide others through the paths paved by the front line crews. We'd also protect and escort regular players from difficult enemies and PKers as they ascend up the Floors for sufficient commission to maintain the guild.

If needed, our Guild can also be contracted to support the front line forces by either acting like a police force to ward off uninvolved players and PKers, or to handle any mobs that may move on the front lines' flanks.

I don't think I'll be able to afford it to tell you the truth...I mean, do u guys know how bad the economy is right now? I hope this game exists in the future, except I don't wanna be stuck in the virtual world and have to fight to survive like in S.A.O. That would just be a horrifying experience for all of us! ;O Especially when you know that you might get killed by the monsters & etc! .-.

I think I won't be able to focus on 1 skill so my skill data base would be random.

If I were to be in SAO...

I'd either use a battle scythe or a bastard sword. I'd only wear very light armor and probably dark clothes like Kirito, but not all black. I would also become a summoner and get a direwolf/high level wolf familiar to travel with
At first I would solo through the game as I find it hard to trust others, but eventually I would probably try to make friends and establish a small guild. I would probably end up only training my combat skills in order to be able to become a PKK...
Those who kill others need to be erased.

Not that i wouldn't be weak but i would contribute more through my skills. I would nearly never solo as i wouldn't wanna die. Hence being a Merchant and letting the front-liners do there thing.

My battle would be the power of a thief quick one blade quick stab's. Then run away. I would also level my Listen/Hide skills.

Living in the world of death, fear feeds on my adrenaline.

I would turn out to be an information broker as my way of life (like Argo). Soloing and getting information from the frontlines. Grinding my way to keep up the quota level (to me, that's fun even in death). Though, I'll often go below the halfway mark on my health so many times due to my fighting style of "martial art/hand-to-hand combat" user as my main offense with (dagger/one-hand sword as my sub weapon). That would worry and be inconvenient to everyone when I party with anyone; my main reason to avoid people.

And a little extra (for the rp'ers as the comment briefly talked about)

1) Select <Ethics Code Off>
2) Creep

Seriously though...

Weapon-wise, double-handed greatsword would be my way to go. Grind up XP on medium-to-low level monsters to ensure strength without taking exceptional risk. Enjoy the game and treat it as an alternate life away from reality. After all, that's what an MMO is.

In RPGs I usually go for the mage or ranger class. But since this is SAO I'd like to have dual wield, but since it's a unique skill that is given to the player with the fastest reaction time and assuming it isn't me, I would like to wield either a storm halberd or a double ended spear and also a katana in its sheath. I had thought about this 7 years ago what I would be if I created something similar to a VRMMORPG. I'm quite antisocial/shy player so I'd probably go solo for a while, and just level up quickly. I would focus and train on my speed/Dex, strength, and Endurance. I would later when I'm more comfortable with my surroundings, people, and my own skills to support another player then I would join a friendly guild. While I'm a solo player and strong enough. I would hunt down and jail or kill if necessary players in murderer guilds who just find it fun killing other players knowing/taking the risk that the players they kill will also die in real life. I would like to think that I could be strong enough to join the front lines and survive. Completing the game is basically the ultimate aim. Survival is a close second. And getting rid of Murdering Guilds is a close third. Throughout the game I would like to make good friends who I could actually hang out with in real life as in SAO your real face bar Heathcliff is shown and your height, though I'm short. If I haven't given up on escaping I would keep on fighting. But If I have, I would just try to live a quiet life in the countryside.

In the beginning, i would solo and focus on leveling myself to get stronger. Then when I get strong enough to solo bosses, I would go on a permanent vacation and join a guild and train them. What class would I be? I would have the Holy Sword skill. For those who don't know what that is, it's basically using a sword and shield.

I've always liked dual blades mainly because it focuses on speed and power. But I've always known that using dual blades is 100% offence and minimal defense. In reality and SAO using dual wield wouldn't suit most people as you can get easily killed especially against bosses if you go in alone or are too slow. I think that's why the skill dual wield was only given to the player with the fastest reaction time as they could use it to its optimum and have the best chance of survival with it. In my opinion using dual wield is like going all or nothing, all out.

Me in SAO?

I have found my mentality to oddly fit with alot of today's anime heros. I don't mean their physical strenght and all, but really their way of acting and logical sense etc. Which often leads me to spoiling myself accidentally.

ANYWAY.

I probably would do the same as Kirito, except I would fight with a katana. Aahh, the japanese sword, weapon of choice. I would train/grind nonstop. Get money from drops and buy food etc with that money, instead of wasting precious time training secondary skills. I would solo my way as far as I could before joining a clan or party. I'm not the socialist type of person in videogames anyway so soloing is really what I do in anything I play. I'm not an anti-teamplay player but it's just my way of thinking. I'd fight bosses and monsters as often as I could, and knowing myself, i'd probably nolife that game 24/24.

That would be me, definitely.

PS: I'm not asian, but 90% of the friends I send to SAO or other animes that have a black, medium length haired main character, say that I really look like, and behave like those. Yet I don't share that opinion for the physical side, I do find myself behaveing near identically *sight*.

Meh, if I could exchange my current life to experience what "kirito" experienced in that game, I totally would with no hesitation. At the end of the line, he lives anyway so why not?

If starting new ( as in I just got the game and it was just released ) I would start off by getting a few people and go together to start power leveling and getting gold. I then would begin a guild in which the goal of it is to obviously become strong and well known, but lead this guild and treat every member fairly. At the same time, I would wanna relax and enjoy the game. The same as Kirito did from time to time. Enjoy what has been handed to you. I would treat the game realistically. The same way Asuna and Kirito fell in love. Just because its a game doesn't mean it doesn't mean anything, As for play style I want to wield pretty much the same thing as Kirito wielded. I might try a shield, but the idea of have that speed advantage seems really nice.

I'd prob spend my time leveling up all of the crafting professions. If I end up making a pretty penny I would put out a notice for rare materials and pay players that are a higher level, combat wise, than me to farm them. Once I got that supply line set up I'd take all of the extra money and donate it to the orphanage.

Class wise I'd go beast tamer and go for pets that have support abilities, like heals, buffs etc.
