The first tankouban volume of Fujitani Mukku's sci-fi romantic-comedy manga "Capriccio" was published by Shounen Magazine Comics on August 8, 2012. The publisher's number is KCM 4729, and the ISBN number is 978-4-06-384729-1. The price is Y419 and there are 191 pages. The volume contains chapters 1-4; I had forgotten that the first chapters were nearly 50 pages apiece – they don't seem so long in a huge monthly manga magazine like Bessatsu Shounen Magazine.

In addition to the first four chapters, the first volume also contains character pages for Akira, Demelta, Miyoko and Yuusuke, as well as some original conceptual designs sketches for the story. What is missing is the introductory sheet music that was used in the first few chapters to give a reprise of the story via the lyrics.

There is an ad announcing that the second volume will be released on the 9th of January 2013.

I really like the nice clean artwork, the cute character designs, and the comic dialog and set-up. Some of the conceptual design artwork suggests that Fujitani may have initially considered this to be more of a serious horror-style story, but I'm glad that it has moved in the current direction instead.

So if you are looking for a funny sci-fi romance with attractive character designs, a creative concept, and great comic timing, you may well want to try out Capriccio.

Now, if I can only figure out why food items, and in particular deserts, show up so often in the introductory and cover motifs.
