Heh, don't tell me you didn't expect that one-sided score when you were making that poll, let alone making that question, at some anime forum, OP? Well, just like those voters, I don't, too. Hell, in the kind of genre I especially listen to, rock and metal, half of the lyrics are quite hard to grasp even. |

Im listening to Japanese music right now, and I have been listening to mostly that for the past few weeks, even though I dont have any idea what the lyrics are. Before that, I would also listen to German songs (Rammstein =D) and i still do, although like i said, japanese music has been dominating my playlists recently. |

No. Lyrics are important for me, but I can enjoy a song even without knowing what the hell it's all about. As long as it sounds good, it's fine. The only thing you can rely on is that you can't rely on anything. |

Lyrics don't mean too much to me. If I really like a song I will hum along so words are not necessary. I listen to a lot of Russian music, and since I don't know the language that well I don't really know all the lyrics. I also like some random intro songs for some anime, and I don't know the words for those either (except maybe the random English words they throw in there :P). If it's a good song, it shouldn't matter. |

Instead I just pretend they are singing about sophisticated things and it's all good. You probably should look up Hide (former X-Japan guitarist)... He writes quite poetically... How is he J-pop? Also I was just over generalizing, I don't literally think there are no lyrically talented J-pop artists. There are lots of songs in English where I can't understand the lyrics, and it's my native language. I listen to all kinds of songs in at least 8 other languages, all of varying genres, and sometimes I understand them better than English ones. It's music, so for me, it's more about how it sounds than what it means. Sometimes I can tell from how it sounds what it's about or what the overall mood is, anyway. The words themselves aren't always as important. |

I accidentally voted yes, lol. I meant no, I listen to a lot of songs where I don't even know (or just don't care) what they are singing. It just sounds awesome. |

As almost everyone else has said, no. I almost never pay attention to the lyrics. And even when I'm listening to songs in other languages, I don't need to understand what they're saying as long as the song is good. |

I used to do that until I listen the Kore wa Zombie desu ka first opening. At first its so catchy that I started singing but then I read the subtitles.... Not going to sing that again xDD Knowing what song you are listening is also important. But that doesn't necessarily apply to everything. xDD Modified by DenjaX, 08-17-12, 1:30 PM |

No. Music is music, usually other languages can provide more emotional value in them. For example Japanese music, I kind of dislike it but when combined with music it is beautiful. Same for Russian, my main language but I like the speaking of it and how it goes in music. English is nice but very limited because the language all sounds so dull to me. |

No, I listen to many different languages, at least 14 different languages when I checked from my playlist. I also listen music where singer's voice sounds e.g. like someone is either killing a pig or singer swallowed a rat and is trying to cough it out. This makes it quite hard to hear the lyrics correctly. Sometimes it's even hard to tell what the language is, lul. |

Nope, I listen to a lot of songs from different languages; It doesn't matter to me whether or not I know what they're saying. |

No. I listen to songs for the music, lyrics are just icing on top of the cake. |
