I assume that anyone who joined this club has already seen Akira (or at least I hope thats the case). I haven't seen it in a while, damn near a year actually. I wanted to have a sort of club thing where we watch or read an Otomo work and then comment on it later on. First item is obviously Akira, which is his best known work.

There's not going to be a particular date you have to watch it by or anything. Whenever you feel like it is just fine with me. Hopefully by the end of the month this thread gets some hits. I'm not even sure when I will have time to watch it, but I want to at least by next weekend.

I also want to be able to compare the movie to the manga, simply because I'm re-reading/attempting to finish it. For first time Akira viewers, this is a great opportunity to have a greater understanding of the work!

I am unsure of what Akira fan group you fit into, but I am of the group that loves both the manga and anime dearly. I must say though that the manga is one of the best, if not the best, manga I have read to this day. Ill rewatch it again and submit my observations. Good idea by the way.
