[Potential Spoiler] So I've been rewatching DTB and I still can't figure out what happens to Mao in episode 24. When he says "It was fun working with you guys" his voice makes it sound like his mind is fading, like someone falling asleep while struggling to say something. What happened to him? It's clear that he loses consciousness and the cat takes over again, but why? My only theory is that something within the gate effected his ability to stay in control of the cat's body. Which would mean the cat takes over his conscience or his mind is completely kicked out of the cat and with no body to return to, it would mean he died. What are your thoughts? |

The first time I watched DTB these things went through my mind as well, but Mao makes a return in Ryuusei no Gemini and gets his old body back if I'm correct. Ive watched DTB three times now but have only seen Ryuusei no Gemini once so im not positive about his regaining his body, but I do know for sure that he returns. |

Mao states in an earlier episode that The Syndicate has his mind saved in some sort of network, which they can disconnect at any time. That is why he is loyal to them. In episode 24, The Syndicate realises he has gone rogue and they disconnect him. |

Ah, I have yet to rewatch Ryusei no Gemini (it's been about 3 or 4 years?). Planning to do so when I get my bandwidth renewed. If I recall it's the episode about the guy who can control another person's body? Anyhow, thanks for clearing that up ! |
