Character designs look alright. Either way, Madoka was good so hopefully they won't disappoint |

Not impressed. Can't there be some hawt bishounen in it? It's Shaft, it could be possible. I'll add it to my list if I hear good stuff about this. |

Akamitsu said: Definitely watching. Although I must say the character designs look almost nothing like what Shaft would usually create. Not that it's a bad thing. What would Shaft usually create, though? They don't seem to have a standard character design style to me. Where there's any similarities, it's because the same designer was used (e.g. Madoka and Hidamari), and I can't think of many examples of that either. BUY YUYUSHIKI BDS ALL DAY EVERY DAY |

another "madoka" would be too obvious, because everyone would expect dark things to occur, but IMO it will just be your typical mahou shoujo with cutesy overload... :3 |

jmal said: As local Precure fan I would say... if they would make something in the tone of HeartCatch that would be very nice show. Series that is dark but not entirely - this lacked for me in Madoka, they build this grimm universe to finish it, as it finished :3 Well, why wouldn't they? Precure is very popular among adult otaku audiences, not just young girls, and I would expect this series to be at the very least modestly more serious/mature than Precure simply by virtue of being a late night anime (seems safe to assume it is, from Shaft). Still more magical girls is always good news :) |

There's certainly a ton of light-hearted Madoka fan material floating around, but how many people would seriously want a straightforward mahou shoujo series? Well, why wouldn't they? Precure is very popular among adult otaku audiences, not just young girls, and I would expect this series to be at the very least modestly more serious/mature than Precure simply by virtue of being a late night anime (seems safe to assume it is, from Shaft). Shows are successful for intangible reasons, so if this were a "straightforward" mahou shoujo anime I don't think that in and of itself would determine most viewers' reactions. It'll instead live or die by how likable the characters are, or how interesting the plot is, or how good the production values are, or some combination of those and other things. They in most cases matter a lot more to fan reception than "originality" per se, which still needs those other elements to deliver whatever promises of novelty the originality has made. This. I'll definitely be checking this out. Shaft tends to do some interesting stuff. I like that it's an original anime. With the success of Madoka, I hope Shaft continues to do original anime. |

By just reading "Shaft" it will be on my watch list and for whatever it will be, I hope that Akiyuki Shinbou will be directing it |

Just because it's Shaft, doesn't mean it'll be anything like Madoka. Unless Gen's directing, which I doubt. |
