And just as I expected, Kuroko rocked the charts....Stalker predicted ~14k and since it overestimates, I thought it would get ~12k and it did. Go kuroko fans! Go fujoshi!

Accel World did good too.....though, I thought it would get 10k. Guess not.

And Hyouka dropped a bit for the second volume, to be expected. So it'll probably average ~6.5-7k for the volumes.....since its 2cour.

Nyaruko-san will probably average 6k.....

Inu Boku doing 8k.....my life is complete. Not to mention I saw on ANN that Square Enix got a lot of money in manga sales due to Inu Boku....I don't know what's stopping them from making a second season lol.

All in all, very happy week for me, especially since Kuroko did so well. It'll get at least 1k more in the next two weeks I think....its still doing well in the charts.

Yep, it was becoming clear by the end that Kuroko would easily have the best first week of the season, ignoring Fate/Zero. It was ranking extremely highly in the last month or so given that it was split across DVD and BD and that really sent it soaring.

phoenixalia said:
Accel World did good too.....though, I thought it would get 10k. Guess not.

It had been on track for less than this, so I'm actually pretty surprised to see it pull off more than 9k first week. That's the second best first week sales of the season. Stalker underestimated it, which is uncommon, especially for a show that ranked really highly early on. Now granted we need to see if it keeps it up or if it's just a Vol. 1 fluke.

phoenixalia said:

Vizi_Reality said:

Actually, it went up.
Vol. 1 BD: 6,718
Vol. 2 BD: 7,050 (+4.94%)

But the DVDs ranking threshold is really high this week, so we don't know the DVD numbers. Vol. 1 DVD did 1,116, and nothing under 1,133 for DVD ranked this week. So even if it did the same or a couple copies more, it still wasn't in the top 30 animation discs because there was too much competition this week. Maybe Thursday will add some DVDs (that would be rare) or maybe we'll get one of those lists that has potential estimates for DVDs ranking over 100 later in the week or next week.

It's holding up a bit better than Nyaruko-san, which it was running neck and neck with on v1, given that Hyouka v2 has sold more than Nyaruko-san v2 even if you take Nyaruko DVD+BD against just Hyouka's BD. Nyaruko had an event ticket in v1, Hyouka had no such bonus.

phoenixalia said:

If they're not on the list, they're below the thresholds. Both were complete bombs in anime form. I doubt either sold much more than 400-700 in either format and possibly less than 1k total.

It's possible we'll see Medaka BDs on Thursday (Shining Hearts, not a chance) but I wouldn't hold my breath. Thresholds will still be really high.

Sakamichi no Apollon will definitely rank on BD on Thursday.

Oh wow, was it really? As in a full OVA of just stills and voice? Now that is disappointing... I had no idea. I had a mild interest in watching it because I love Nunnally, but not now.

DVDs weren't overestimated to a major extent, but BDs sure were. 20k vs 13k reality is quite a big deal.

On the other hand, 20k for a side-story picture drama released years after the main series ended is pretty damn good. Geass is still rather powerful.

Well theres a few bits of animation (though it looks like animated GIFs, its not good animation at all), but the majority of it are still frames, and stuff you'd see out of a visual novel.

http://randomc.net/image/CODE%20GEASS%20Nunnally%20in%20Wonderland/CODE%20GEASS%20Nunnally%20in%20Wonderland%20-%20OVA%20-%20Large%2024.jpg

Like here, they just have Nunnally and Shirley talking back and forth with still pics. Really lazy from Sunrise.

Yeah to bad not many fujoshi knows about Tsuritama. They turn to Kuroko no Basket for hot guys.

That and KuroBas has more possibility of yaoi....the shadow and the light, 'you are my light and I am your shadow', overpossessive Kise going 'Kurokocchi~~~' with a rape face in one instance I remember lol, the angst with Aomine and Kuroko with the whole 'Old Light' 'Previous Partners' thing, Akashi X Kuroko being popular due to the whole Akashi yandere aspect, MidorimaXTakao: 'Shin-chan~~~~' Tsundere Kasamatsu and Kise....

need I say more? :/ Its obvious what yaoi fangirls will prefer. Not bashing Tsuritama...I liked that show. :( but it was pretty obvious which show fangirls would prefer.

Asian Kung-Fu Generation deserves to sell even more than just 18,000 copies on the first week!

While I'm not surprised by Kuroko no Basket selling 12k, I am somewhat noticing a trend that fujoshi shows tend to have a very high first volume followed by a rather steep drop afterward. Just look at Inu X Boku for example. Yeah, I know the first volume was discounted but it still sold 15k copies. And now the 4th volume is a little above 8k. Ao no Exorcist also had a big drop if I remember right. Basically, while fujoshi are definitely a huge force for sales at the moment, they don't seem to be consistent. Will be curious to follow Kuroko's numbers and see if it has the more common 15-20% sales declination or if it'll be closer to the 40-50% that other fujoshi series have seen.

Same to Tsuritama. But not sure which have more since i still on epi 14.

Actually I was try to say is that lot fujoshi these days like hot guys and when it come lot hot guys, there's lot of fujoshi to ship the guys.
Now I think about it - it's very common to have hot guys in yaoi & subtext stories, so i can see why girls prefer that over Tsuritama

Though I wish fujoshi enjoy the stories than fangirling over yaoi subtext. lot people are missing out on Tsuritama.
I have poorly English grammar, so for give me. I still learning.

but this is only the first week. Inu Boku will probably get more DVDs sold next week. I've noticed on Amazon Rankings that the DVDs stay higher than the BDs even after 2-3 days after its sold.Should come up to 9k in the second and third week. though third week won't chart. And Inu Boku's first volume did not do 15k. It did just above 14k.And Inu Boku has a significant male fanbase too so you have them to blame as well. Not to mention, we got to see the 1st volume's DVDs chart mainly because the second and third weeks' DVD threshold was so low...the highest for the third week was ~2.5k. Not much. While from 14k to 9k is a big drop, you gotta remember that the BDs didn't chart because the second week had a high threshold for BD sales...undoubtedly BDs were sold but they didn't chart. Besides that was only the first week.

I dunno about Ao no Exorcist though.

In overall i hate fujoshi, but i need to give them my thanks.Maybe because of them we will get Kuroko second season really fast :D.It's really ironic tho, females buy more shounen (anime aimed for guys) anime than guys, only because of ''hot'' guys. It's kinda annoying, but yeah.

Hey Jmal, with everything that sold until now, do you think Highschool DxD, Inu x Boku SS and Kore wa Zombie desu ka might get second seasons?

Also, Guilty Crown seems to sell pretty well (does it sell pretty well?), is there a possibility of anything coming in the future for GC (even with what happened in the ending)?

D: I'm not good at this stuff.
