Hey all I wanted to do a poll and see what age group you guys fall into. For me i dont think it matters how old you are watching anime as long as u enjoy it.

I'm personally 20 and I've only been watching anime on and off for a year. I think now though i'm really to getting into it and will continue to watch more and more over the years. Mystery and Psychological series really keep me entertained. why do you guys watch? im interested.

23. I feel so old. Time goes by so fast :(

For those that are still in their teens, cherish it. Seriously. Life sucks after high school unless you're some jock or rich kid.

That's why I watch anime:

Most would agree with Yvese, but there are those lucky few that either have enjoyable / cozy jobs or retire early and get to enjoy life to the fullest, doing whatever they want. Oh how I hope.

I definitely agree with Yvese. A lot of anime being based in a school setting, I can kind of go back to those times, if only for 23 mins.

It's easy to say that as a freshman in highschool. Believe me.

Reality will set you down a few pegs once you get into the real world, especially in this economy where a lot of grads end up with massive amounts of student loan debt and not a job to be found ( Or atleast a well paying one ). That is of course unless you have connections and money to get you started in life. Not everyone is so lucky :(

EDIT: Just realized I read your post out of context lol. Meh, my point still stands though; being an adult is troublesome ;P. Enjoy highschool while you can. Definitely the best years of my life. Carefree and tons of joking around. Ah how I miss those days.

I watch/read because I love the shows/manga. Couldn't live without it. =3

I love that you put 6-9 as an option, was tempted to click it. I'm twenty and I watch anime for probably the same reasons as everyone else; I love art, stories, music, and how they all come together.

I can't say precisely how big of a factor this is, but it's definitely nice to have something that isn't distinctly Canadian, American, or British, like most of the "mainstream" entertainment I consume. I've come to really appreciate the Japanese language and the artistic flare, to where I feel like I need my fix, so to speak.

I'm 18, and just graduated high school last month :).

Main reason I got into it was because of why I watch/read anything else: I don't want to miss out on great characters or story just because it's different.

Honestly, it's all about balance. You never know when you might die... it could be a single car accident away. So do study hard, but don't forget to enjoy life as well. As well, don't neglect your education and play around too much, or there's a good chance that life after school will rain shit on you. I'm talking massive diarrhea here.

For me, it’s not that. I just miss the incredible loads of free time I used to have. Though I’m not entrenched in the work world yet, when I interned in a well-paying standard 8-hour + lunch schedule, the 4-5 hours of free time I had per weekday just wasn’t enough. Not to mention the dire lack of vacations, especially extended breaks like summer.

Also, work is almost guaranteed to be more difficult than school. After the mental exhaustion, you don't really feel like doing much of anything at home. I circumvented that by sleeping right after and staying up all night, though. But night's nowhere near as alive as day.

I am 24...I don't watch that much anime anymore but when I did watch it all the time (I started when I was maybe 19-20 and got a bit burnt out by 23) it was because I found the stories/ settings so interesting and different from anything I had ever seen before. It is such a unique medium.

I feel sorry to those people thinking life sucks after high school :( My life has been much more fun post- high school than it ever was during high school or before. I remember spending most of high school being frustrated and bored by everything. Leaving my home city after high school was the best decision I ever made. College was awesome :) Post-college is...ups and downs, really. But definitely still an improvement from high school, lol. But I guess if you really loved high school it's different.

I'm 20. I watch for a entertainment and an escape from reality. My favorite thing to do that I've done as a kid is to replay the episode or whatever it is in my head and put me as a character in it. Something I do with everything I watch like right now at my summer job I just day dream about anime I've watched while working lol.

I'm 20. I don't watch anime as much as I used to, but I became interested because it's different from what we have in the U.S., especially when I first started watching. Most animated shows I'd seen were episodic, primarily aimed at children (and if they weren't, they were comedies for adults), and had no real storyline. Sure there were other non-animated shows, but I still found cartoons more appealing as a 10-year-old, plus there are things you can do with animation that you just can't do with real people.

I still watch anime for the same reasons, just less of it than I used to.

Looks like in the majority of 18-21, like most people I really enjoy the escapist aspect of anime. I also just love to see what kind of crazy imaginative worlds and settings that are created in anime. Also to see how dif peoples takes on certain settings. I guess out of habit as well since I've been doing this for awhile at this point.

I watch 'cause I think I enjoy anime. And in my opinion, it makes up for the life experiences I should've had, but didn't.
Well, that's my real reason, to learn. But yeah, 'to escape' is a valid reason. It makes me jealous to see those 'SCHOOL' genre-d shows don't show students studying. And here I am doing my homework and projects, wishing for more time to make memories with my friends.

I'm usually swarmed with school work and family business, so I don't watch a lot of anime. But when I do, it's mostly for entertainment, and a way for me to escape reality for a bit. It does feel nice being able to sit down and watch as a fantasy story unfolds right before your very eyes.

I watch anime not only for escape from reality (isn't that what any medium of fiction is for?) or just mindless entertainment (there are some that can only give me that),but to experience new characters, stories & worlds from creative minds.
