I kind of see what you mean. I guess I was just disappointed to not see a Revy-type. For Higurashi, I was very pleased with the first season. However, I was thinking during the whole show, "I hope they tie everything together and don't use parallel universes to explain this". So the second season disappointed me a bit. Not to say I still didn't love it. I love how it deals with paranoia and all of the violent scenes were beautifully done and not overdone. (Not that I don't like overdone). As the series progressed, it became easier to tell the twins apart. I wonder if the writer intended this? I am a bit torn on whether or not I like the ending... |

Um, how could they have explained Higurashi without a parallel universe? |

What I assumed at first was that each arc was from a different perspective and that each time, there were events that were reality and ones that were delusions. I think it would have been cool if they could have explained it with all the events, delusional or not, happening in every arc and tied the entire story together. |

That's an interesting idea, though that was part of the storyline to a degree. Also I was thinking about the idea of parallel universes and I do not believe Higurashi can properly be considered having parallel universes. Not sure what you would call it though. |

I thought Death Note was a brilliant anime. The mind games and strategies interesting and fun to watch. L and Light are memorable characters that people become attached to and bring out emotions in the viewers. Many people dislike Misa which doesn't make that much sense, she complicates and adds conflict to the story. Death Note wouldn't be as interesting without her. There a number of subplots which are interesting in themselves and keep the viewers attention. A fault I find is L and Light figure out each others' plans too quickly, it takes some time figure out peoples' thought processes, there are a number of variables to consider when doing so. I like to think Death Note ends with the first season, the second season is rubbish in comparison. Your thoughts? |

I loved it! I didn't dislike Misa. For me, she was the main source of comic relief along with Matsuda. They do figure out each other's plans quickly and I wondered about that near the beginning. Maybe the writer intended for us to see Light and L as two different people but one unified psyche with two different views of how the world should be? This is just an idea though. Something interesting I read is that Death Note is actually supposed to represent biblical stories and that the apples are imagery of that. Also, Light represents Judahs, L represents Jesus, and Near represents Jesus resurrected and that is why he has white hair and a pure and childlike personality. The foot-washing scene is also imagery. I just thought all of this was interesting. Um, I thought all of Death Note was 1 season. Where does the second season start? |

Death Note is actually one season, but I away consider the introduction of Near a second season. Not sure how Death Note could be considered representing Biblical stories. Judas was one of the Apostles that stole from the group's treasury. He betrayed Jesus for money and hung himself in regret after what he had done. The Bible describes a scene where Jesus washes the disciples' feet to give them an example of what it means to be great in the kingdom of God. The washing of feet was considered the lowest servant's job, teaching humility is considered highly as a follower of Christ. Also, the sin in the Garden of taking of the fruit from the tree of good and evil is described as fruit of good and evil not an apple, though most people get that wrong anyway. That's an interesting idea about L and Light being one psyche, I don't think he did, but still interesting idea. |

Oh, I see. Yeah, after L is gone, the series really isn't what it was. It doesn't follow the bible closely by any means but I can still see the allusions in some parts. I saw Light and L as two sides of a ying yang. The same, yet not the same. Let's discuss Elfen Lied next XD |

Pretty much throw as much brutality into a show as possible and still allow for a storyline and that about sums up Elfen Lied. It is perhaps the darkest anime I know of. The psychological horrors the characters are put through are interesting and disturbing. Most people either hate the anime or love it. I find it fascinating psychologically, I wonder about human behavior when faced with such situations and how accurate the anime character's portrayal is compared to real life. The anime displays the worst of human cruelty. I saw the anime about seven years ago and my memory isn't the greatest, so I don't think I will go into this any farther, unless you bring some topic out. |

What I find interesting is I have heard alot of people say, "This is so unrealistic. No one would treat a girl so badly just because she has horns on her head." But this is a world where people are persecuted over dumb things like skin color, ethnicity, and religion. How could they say that? It makes perfect sense. I love this show because it took violence and human cruelty and went all out. Moderation did not exist for this show. Alot of people say it's overdone but as I usually say, I like overdone. The saddest part for me was the killing of the puppy. I don't know why but it brought out quite a bit of emotion in me and I have heard many people say that. I hated Yuka because she was bitchy but at the same time I feel the show wouldn't have been the same without her. I think this is kind of like Gantz where you're supposed to dislike the characters and they aren't supposed to be good people, with the exception of Mayu and maybe Nana... |

I think they overdid the cruelty, but that seems to be the point. |

I am not enjoying it, the story seems fragmented, it's illogical, and I don't really care for the main characters. |

Well, for anime movies I like Perfect Blue. For regular movies, I like The Sixth Sense, The Exorcism of Emily Rose, The Shining, and Saw (although I have only seen the first 3. I need to watch the rest!) What about you? |
