Say what you want about the previous stuff, but the Olympic cauldron was excellent. ![]() |

I though it was really fun, you're never gonna like everything in a ceremony when it's trying to represent so many different things, I wasn't loving it at the start but when it got to the industrial part and beyond than I really enjoyed it. My sister actually said "This is boring, Mr.Bean should come on". Right at that moment, *camera pans upwards* Rowan Atkinson. Best part of the whole thing. |

Canada to win gold in every event. You heard it here first. Gunbladewarrior said: If nothing else, I expect the Mens, and womens basketball teams to win gold. Obviously, lol. I personally have no interest in watching basketball at the olympics, it's just the US show. Yeezus walks. |

Basketball shouldn't really be at the Olympics...to be frank. "If you love someone Follow your heart Cause love comes once If you’re lucky enough" |

Basketball doesn't have that much international attention so its nice seeing countries playing, although if you were talking about the one-sided part, yeah that'll get boring. |

It's all about involvement. Almost every country that I know of boasts a passable football team, but basketball? It's like women's hockey (which they are discussing removing from the winter olympics), where Canada, the US, and Russia just murder everyone else 20-0, lol. I don't mean the same countries, but you get the idea. Yeezus walks. |

Loved the opening ceremony! I'm a sucker for these kind of things, would have loved to be there. Maybe in a few years we will have the Olympic games here in Portugal. eheh No harm in dreaming I guess. :) Nil Satis Nisi Optimum |

True, but that is there for more events from what I know the women's cycling has been dominated by Marianne Vos for the last years, so no surprise there and you never know when something will change, US will most likely win the basketball event, but there isn't any guarantee and nothing is more entertaining than an underdog beating a favourite. |

NicoleB said: For a second I thought you meant that it isn't a competitive sport in general lol. Though if you mean because the US more than likely win then I understand. However I don't believe that means it shouldn't be allowed. Other countries are getting better and better. Most notably Spain, and it's not like the US is absolutely guaranteed to win. I mean look at 2004, Greece took home the gold then.Because Basketball isn't competitive. |
