Sakata Gintoki from the manga "Gintama". Because he is very stupid, not serious, hilarious. Well the opposite of what is expected of a samurai. It has moments when it's tiring to always want a serious figure, intelligent it is true that this is attractive but it is good and it is both irritating too. "The true value of a man lies not in what he has, but what it is." "Do not be fooled by appearances. Many people do not look as stupid as they really are." "There is a light that minds not to judge by appearances. The true mystery of the world is the visible, not the invisible." By Oscar Wilde |

I don't understand why people are saying Basilisk. Don't get me wrong, its a great manga, one of my favourites, but its about ninjas, not samurai. |

VAGABOND. It's seriously the most symbolic, beautifully drawn, entertaining, and addictive manga I've ever read. I sit around for hours thinking deeply about it, and how sick it would be if it were an anime. If someone were to do it right, it could easily become one of the best of all time. If the fighting wasn't enough, the pace that the story is told, the attention to detail, the character development, and the characters themselves should make this completely obvious. When I say attention to detail, and symbolism, I'm talking 'bout this. There's a part in the manga where the main protagonist,Shinmen Takezo, is fighting someone called Tsujikaze Kohei. It's impressive shit. NO SPOILERS AHEAD, I DON'T THINK. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The way Takehiko Inoue adds mother nature taking it's course is clearly showing the spiral of death and killing. There's always one bigger and badder is the only way I can put it into words. That clearly sticks out in my mind. Not to mention Sasaki Kojiro's whole arc. If someone else doesn't do it, goddammitt, I will. ![]() |

I can only say Kenshin since it's the only one about samurai I read. Having said that,I think I like the character more than the actual manga itself. I can't wait to get started on Lone Wolf & Cub and Vagabond. |

I love the character Kenshin, but I dropped the manga because I just couldn't make myself like the actual story. A real shame, he's such an incredibly likeable character. |
