Can someone please explain to me how Kyoto Animation can afford such animation for this series, every episode constantly has cinematic amazing animation. It just has me curious.

Did K-On and other series really sell that well for this to get such amazing visuals?

More than K-On! I would say it was their Haruhi Suzumiya franchise that got them where they are. Look at their AIR TV overhaul in high definitions, that came years after the original TV release in Blu-ray format. Absolutely stunning. Kanon 2006 and Clannad both had stunning visuals even though they were not released in true HD back then. And their BD releases are amazing too.

Kyoto Animnation, Madhouse Studios and P.A. Works are probably the three best studios for TV series animation.

Yah i think kyo has made enough cash to pretty much not even get budgets anymore. They use as much as they want, and yes this does actually happen, another example is the final 2 eva films have a infinite budget due to the other 2 just doing that well.

I agree on SHAFT more than Brains Base. The new studio that is doing great is White Fox. All four of their anime has amazing animation quality. Almost ufotable tier.

Whoa, let's not get crazy now.

ufotable is in a league of it's own. Though I agree, White Fox is doing great.

Ya, KyoAni does receive a ridiculous budget from their works. The sky is the limit when it comes to how much quality they want to shove into each episode. XD

There are too many techniques that you can use nowadays that most companies try and use different ones all the time... All a company has to do is merely make use of the same skills they used in other media, over time improving the skill, and coming out with something as skillfully produced as hyouka. Just wait till this series ends and they release another, it'll probably be just as skillfully made. :)

KyoAni is amazing.

IDK about Brains Base. They are too....inconsistent? Kuragehime and Durarara!! look amazing, but they shouldn't be bragging about Kamisama Dolls or Sengoku Collection.

Steins;Gate looked fantastic but I think they really lowered their standard in Jormungand. That anime has some real nasty looking animation in some places, they might fix it up in the blu ray release but it certainly never reached the standard that Steins;Gate set.

If a studio can produce an anime with high quality animation, it will be a better anime (animation doesn't make a studio but it helps) and will earn more money. With that extra money, they can produce better anime with better animation that more people will watch/purchase, earning them more money to spend.
A cycle of success :D
