The Club is now in the second stage of launch, this thread will continue to be the make-shift place for Setting, and now also the Rules, Club Philosophy and a general guide on how the club works.. Even more information will be condensed into this thread eventually, but for now this place will Remain a boot-camp for feedback and other many other things. This Stage might be a very long one, however while Stage 3 is the Final Launch, the Second Stage is basicly a launch in itself, as we can finally start to RP now.
Also pay heed to the fact that not everything is completely done in terms of formatting and typo checks and that the only difference between a full launch and stage 2, is that in stage 2 major changes can still be implemented (however you can no longer Reset your characters SP etc without first requesting it.)
For now you can use this thread to ask questions about the setting and other things concerning the launch of the club. Also remember to read EVERYTHING below atleast once, yes its really long but it should't be a heavy read, its mostly just club feel and all that crap, but it IS important that everyone gets on the same page, so please read it, especially the rules as it will be easily noticeable if someone haven't read them.
To Do
- Fill The Remaining Admiral and Youkai Spot(Request if you want to help with this)
- Decide if we are going to have Shichibukai or not.(discuss)
- Continue to Balance SP costs
- Do you think a dynamic setting is a good idea? Should we have something else instead? (discuss)
- Start RPing.
The Journey
This Roleplay is designed as a adventure like the original one piece was(and still is), by that I mean that this story will always take place in an Arc that everyone aktivly participates in, this might be difficult for some of you to understand but lets make a small example, the rest will be understood in the actual RP.
There are only two ships, these ships are rival ships that will sail on pretty much the same path, diverging every now and then, sometimes the ships will be behind one another, sometimes people from the different ship will betray one another for the purpose of joining the other, but the important part is that everyone will be on the same course in the club, thats not to say there won't be freedom for personal divergions, people can if they want go on short personal journies, maybe they abstain from an arc to go on a small trip then rejoin in the next, but its important to note again that nobody will go off and do their own thing as a constant thing, they must always return, unless they wish to become a NPC character or similar. There is also the possibility to make threads about your past, etc, but again the focus is on the Arcs that everyone participates in.
When an Arc has been completed, everyone will be given a flat-sp reward, people who outdid themselves or had some sort of great contribution, or simply were more aktive than others might see an extra reward, and every Arc one or more people will marked as focus character, these characters will have a more central role in the plot of that arc, these people will be granted extra SP. People won't be focused two times in a row however, so there is no need to worry about one guy getting all the focus.
The Arcs will have a DM, a person who controls the plot of that Arc and moves it forward, the first Arc will be DMed by myself to show people what I want from this role, but further on others will be allowed to take control and in this way more unique stories will be allowed to be put forth from the individual members.
Imagine RPing in this club as RPing as one of the members of the Strawhat crew, just that there are two of them, and thats exactly what I am trying to recreate, this means of course that things might change, the way this club rp might dynamicly change in the future, maybe everyone gets thrown to every corner of the world and will have to make their way back? Nothing is really set in stone, and as Ive said many times, this club will be player driven, which that while its controlled by admins, the only way its gonna move forward is if players actually contribute, and by that I mean characters, stories, actions that they self take to progress the world, if someone suggest a really good idea that will end us up with 3 ships instead of two, or even seperate all the members, maybe we will do just that!
Club Philosophy
Reading the systems of this club you might have gotten the impression, or will get the impression, that this club is heavily rule based, the truth is that it could't be further from the truth. The goal in this club is to create a strong "stat" system that will be used as a way to differentiate characters and help people interact knowing exactly peoples capabilities, avoiding all possible mishaps where two people argue over who wins a particular clash.. The large comprehensive systems around stats are important to give people a good solid core to RP around and nothing more.
This clubs Philosophy is about respecting one another, and more importantly respecting the freedom I give you in terms of character development and interaction.. It might not seem like it, but have I ever asked you to list your planned character skills? (Beside devil fruit) No, this is because this is entirely up to you, all the stuff you can purchase are templates from which to develop new skills which you don't even have to tell others about! You can keep those things entirely to yourself, allowing you to RP without having to think too much about updating your character page for every little idea you get for your characters progress.. As you can probably guess this is a test to see if people can limit themselves, I am trusting everyone that decides to RP here that they know restraint, that they understand that this club is not about being the strongest, that trying to minmax is a curse upon clubs like these.
I hope that people will not abuse this freedom that I give them, that we will see a new and better way of Roleplaying in this club, one that does not require constant monitoring by admins.
Freedom is the key word, Freedom through the understanding that there are others role-playing in this club besides you, understanding that in order to have fun; everyone else must be enjoying themselves as-well.
When planning your character I hope that people don't go for the path that takes them to power, but rather the path that takes them where they want their character to go, what is his dream? I don't want people to RP because they get SP at the end of an Arc, but because of the enjoyment of Role-playing in that arc(Is that so crazy?), not because you get a power-boost when its over! The Race to "WIN" should be a flavour, a sauce, not the main dish.
Again I hope that people will rise to the challenge of limiting themselves so that I won't have to do it for you.. That people will take responsibility on their own, and use this for good rather than bad.
If this works it will be a great thing, but if it doesn't and people start abusing their freedom as much as humanly possible, well that will just prove that it can't be done, atleast not here on Mal, in which case I will have to put more limits on people, get more admins and basicly make it more like other clubs.. Though if it does work I can actually start giving people even more freedom, to the point where people will feel truly in control of their own progress. I have faith in you, I believe that if given the opportunity, people can really accomplish great things.. So here is hoping that this works out!
“Freedom is the will to be responsible to ourselves”
Roleplay Rules
Most of the ones reading these are already experienced RPers, but for this club things are done quite differently in some respects, so even though you've done this for a few years I urge you to read this, as it is very much required of you.
General Guidelines:
- When Role-playing try to adjust your style to the one your interacting with, if you can find a nice pace then things will be better both in terms of fighting and social interaction
- In RP Fights, its more fun to take hits than delivering them, and losing breeds more interesting stuff than winning, consider that a Must be WINNING WINNING WINNING kind of attitude will usually never result in something truly awesome and remember that even the greatest receive hits from time to time, have fun with it!
Thread Creation Rules:
Private Threads
In this club threads are created and maintained by the Admins or the Current storyteller, people do not make their own threads to further their story, they can only do this in the admin created threads. You CAN create threads like duel un-canon duel threads and other similar things, you can also make threads about your past, actually anything that happened in the past goes, as a rule you cannot make threads about the present without making it a filler "episode" that never really occurred.
ARC Branch Threads
While in a club arc one might get into situations where two people or more will have to post more than others, in this situation the players involved will make an ARC Branch thread by creating a new thread with the name of the Arc and the subject matter, like if there is a dual between two players it can be name vs name. In this thread the players can post without worrying about rotation, however other players can enter and exit this thread if they get close to you in the main arc thread, so in reality your characters are still in the same realm of existence, if someone fires something in the main arc towards the place of the duel, they will have to react to that, so it is important to keep oneself updated to the main thread. Whenever you get into a situation that will demand a break of rotation to finish, a Branch thread is required.
There are certain rules for branch threads:
- Try to keep in line with the current progress of the main arc, avoid going into the future with your thread.
- The moment you leave the situation, return to the main thread, you will always appear in the main threads present time, so if your not on the current timeline your returning post must include something that aligns you with its current time.
- Avoid making Branch Threads for every little thing.
- Avoid spamming the main thread when you could just have made a Branch Thread
Solo Play
There are generally no rules for solo RP, the only thing you need to remember is to switch over to group style RP in the case of somebody entering the thread and that the thread itself need to keep with the time-line ((If done in the present)).
Group Play
This is the most common form of RP and the thing you will be doing 90% of the time in "The Journey". The following pointers are guidelines but also rules, though very bendable I advice you to keep with them as. best as you can to ensure a good time for everyone.
- Keep your posts short (but good!).
In other clubs your posts would usually sometimes become huge blocks of texts, pages in books, etc, you know the jokes. Huge posts are useful but for the purposes of this club, having a single person put out a page of text is a bit of an overkill. I belive that a good RP post is not based on size but how well you can deliver your message with the least amount of letters. In the Journey there are alot of times when your with a large group of people, meaning that having to wait for HUGE blocks of text is out of the question as it usually takes a lot of time to write and exhausts the writer. What is important to know is that I am not telling you to write two lines of text then push "post". If I see people doing that they will be warned, even if your just taking a small action, I recommend you instead focus on describing that action very well instead of being cheap and putting out an ugly two liner. The Golden Rule is simple, Does my post need to be this long? Will making it shorter hurt the quality of the post? If both are a no, then shortening your post would be a good idea, if your post is short things will move faster and more people will properly read your post. Long pages of texts should be reserved for solo posting and story characters or rare events where alot of people are interacting with you at the same time. A good example of a block of text that is longer that is needed to be is actually the one you just read.
- Don't ignore characters
If someone is near you, or within your characters range of hearing, you need to recognise them in some way if they are doing something, ether by just stating that your ignoring them for now or something similar, simply not mentioning them is both rude and sloppy.
- Posting Courtesies
Don't presume to know things about other characters that they haven't shared with you.
Don't create posts which requires others to keep to the rotation if you know you won't be able to post in the near future.
If you need to go away for a while or even just a few days, make a post in which your character gets into a situation where his lack of presence can be more easily ignored...
Posting Rotation
You all know how to rotate post, the idea of having a rotation of post based on the point of entry into the thread is fairly common but its not used here as in other places. Here posting rotation is based on a level of strictness, if there is a huge important event that everyone should be a part of, a very strict rotation will be in place to ensure everyone gets their turn. However for something like basic events like travel there will only be a soft posting rotation.
Very Strict Rotation: Absolutely no posting out of turn unless admin approved.
Strict Rotation: Post out of turn if there is a very good reason for doing so or the one next in line is somehow unable to post or haven't in quite some time, usually you will still have to ask around before doing this.
Normal Rotation: You can post out of turn fairly regularly as long as the following criteria are followed.
1. Is the guy next in line unable to post? Is he slowing down the thread by not posting?
2. Is that character in a situation where he has to have his turn((ala, if he is in the middle of some movements, an action, or are directly talking to someone))
3. Do you know him personally? You can ask for permission and include the fact that you've been allowed to skip him in your post.
Soft Rotation: Unless someone is in the middle of something that directly involves you character, then you can skip over their turn.
No Rotation: No Particular order of posting.
Club Setting
The Club RP Setting is a Dynamic one, this means that it will be created on the go to fill the world around the Roleplayers, this means that the contributions from the members can help design the setting in which their characters inhabit. Though before people go mad its important to also mention that along with the world being dynamic, its also formed around a static core and a set of rules to how the world is generated. The Setting is also an alternative reality to the original one piece world, this means that some of the places and characters from the show might appear in this setting while some might not, and they might not even be who you remember, for example Whitebeard could have been pirate king instead of Roger.. This all means that there might be a strawhat crew out there, or not, some islands might be replaced by others and so forth. This whole thing is done to give us some flexibility in terms of the story, old characters that you know and love can still be found in this world in some form or the other but it can easily be changed to fit with the clubs desires.((The Entire Strawhat crew is not to be mentioned until there role in the story, past and present, can be properly figured out. I delay this cause I know how sensitive these characters are, it should not be something I alone decide upon.))
The Static Setting:
The Static setting is the core of the RP which is created pre club-launch, some of this might be changed as we go along but will most likely stay intact, some of this will be revealed to the RPers while alot will remain something to discover along the way.
The Past:
The Last Great Pirate War, a struggle that had started between the Marines and the infamous pirate lord whitebeard ended with the two sides decimating one another. Though from the smoke and ruins emerged a new power, a pirate who quickly replaced Whitebeards position and in record time squashed all other competition, finally emerging as the New Pirate King. This Ushered in an era of peace that lasted a whole decade, only occasionally broken up by futile attempts to take the new world from the pirates by the Marines, who later decided to focus their attention on stabilizing "Paradise".
((Everything that went on before Gold-D-Rogers birth is canon in this club, unless it completely contradicts whats in this rp.(so basicly void century stuff etc are out and about) Everything else of the past is up to discussion. ))
The Present:
The World is in a state of Turmoil after the mysterious dissapperance of The Pirate King, which had to that point kept the world in a state of peace. The World Goverment and its Marine forces who had been significantly weakened in their previous attempts at waging war against the Pirate Lords of the New World, have launched a huge campaign to restore their power and rid the world of pirates once and for all. Meanwhile in the world of pirates the turbulence have created room for new emerging powers, several new pirate lords have taken the place of the old ones, the last remaining lord struggling to keep his place from a number of powerful upstarts.
Its a time of great strife and chaos, a time where legends are born and die as quickly as the sun rise and fall, an its in this time that the worlds eyes are glued to the whirlpool of clashing souls that inhabit the eye of the storm. Upon the Shores of Saobody Archipelago a huge number of pirates have gathered.. Both new daring souls that wish to try the pirate life and the Veterans that have braved the first part of the grand-line, all for the sake of an epic world-changing event.
Special Characters:
The Southern Pirate Lord: Goldfinger
The man with the golden touch, the Richest of the Pirate lords, Goldfinger, he rules over the southern islands with a mix of wealthy charm, along with a tiny dash of mortal fear. Known for being able to turn anything he touches into pure gold, he is feared among pirates and marines alike, though out of any of the Pirate Lords, Goldfinger has the best relationship with the marines, or more likely, the celestial dragons, his infamous bribery reaching even their pockets gaining him a relationship with the marine forces rivaling even that of a Warlord.
His ship is called "The Golden Midas" which is the flagship of the golden fleet, however only his own crew on the Midas are his actual and the men who crew are called it are his only actual regular members of his crew, the rest are mercenaries, pay swords and other rascal that are brought in with the promise of wealth, infact unlike all other pirate lords, goldfinger rules his territory with money alone, abstaining conflict until the last possible moment, prefering to take use of assassination and other tools to deal with issues, even hiring other armies to fight for him. Though if it comes down to it, Goldfingers Devil Fruit, Gold Gold No Mi, is one to set fear into even the most powerful of men.
The Northern Pirate Lord: The White Lion
The only remaining pirate lord of the old guard, his age gained experience is what has kept him alive through these turbulent times, so far that is, for he is surrounded by upstarts who wants to take his place. Many eyes are swayed in his direction, waiting for his final move, a radical choice that he will have to make in order to avoid his make-shift kingdom from crumbling like all the others.
The Western Pirate Lord:
((Empty Spot))
The Eastern Pirate Lord:
((-Empty Spot))
The Three Admirals
(Humanist) Admiral of Light: -Spot Taken- ((Information not completed))
(Realist) Admiral of Twilight:
(Radicalist) Admiral of Darkness:
The Warlords Of The Sea
The First Warlord:
Jiang "Rainman" Si
While other Warlords wield great fleets or powerful Crews, Jiang Si is rarely seen with anyone but his Legendary Blade "Rain-Dance" furthermore he is the only Warlord capable of going against the Marines orders, even siding with Pirates from time to time, he is a man that completely disregards what is expected of him, and does so with no concern for his title, yet despite this the world goverment does not revoke his title, such is worth of even being able to vaguely call this man your "ally". Jiang Si is not exactly known as the greatest swordsman of the seas, as this title is one that is heavily contested, and the man himself does not seem to seek such glories. Though it is an agreed concept that if he did, he would surely stand on top of the world of martial artist. It is well known that Jiang Si is able to control the Rain, though if this is due to his sword or a devil fruit is a heavily discussed subject, though those who know him would probably bet "both and then some more".
While he does walk alone, it is a well known fact that wherever he goes his disciples follow, the disciples are a number of martial artists, mostly swordsmen, who admire and seek guidance of Jiang Si, despite the fact that he has never been known to take apprentices, the disciples follow the man around in hope of seeing him in combat or for the chance of any other wisdom they may acquire. Though while this might seem harmless, the disciples have been known to attack those who get in their idols way, or whom they think have offended him, though anyone chasing after this man knows that the true danger of such an endeavour is the man himself.
Jiang Si is an extremely unpredictable man, he follows his own code of honour and a philosophy that nobody but him has yet to fully grasp, and for this reason none truly understands the Enigma that is Jiang, he might kill a man for apparently no reason at all, then spare a wicked man when anyone else would have known that being merciless would be the sensible choice. In the Grand Line Rain is something very unpredictable, and that is why the man himself is often compared with the element he uses in his art, for he is like the rain, a bringer and taker of life, unpredictable as the waves of a storm, Jiang Si "The Rain", a man that could turn from your best friend to your worst nightmare, and you will never know why.

And as such, blood is the currency of the soul, the silver plate of the will.
I like your speech in Club Philosophy. Sounds a bit similar to what I had in mind and I think you understand that, and you've addressed the whole rush to the victory thing I didn't address personally for reasons no longer worth voicing.
YES! Now I don't have to feel bad about concise posts~
Also here's my old stuff of Youdai, a Youkai xD
Character Name: Youdai Morokei
Species: Human
Occupaition: Pirate (Yonkou)
Age: 34
Origin: South Blue (Centaurea)
Rank: Captain
Appearance: Youdai is 6'7" with black hair reaching all the way to his thighs.
Devil's Fruit: None
Personality: While he began as a roudy, strong spirited, and almost arrogant youth, throughout his journey Youdai has changed, and while his spirit has only grown he is now more patient, humble, and cautious. He carries himself almost as if he was a wise old man, but regardless he holds the soul of a pirate and is occasionally playful when he knows he can handle his foe. He is quite merciless towards his enemies, and especially cold and cruel towards any marine since his capture.
Bio:
The story begins when Youdai's great-grandfather opened an extremely successful dojo, popularized by it's founder's reputation of strongest swordsman in South Blue. While Youdai's grandfather was not as dedicated to the sword, he knew all traditions and rules of kendō and took over the dojo upon his father's death. His eldest son was twice the swordsman he was, so Youdai's grandfather passed on ownership while he was still alive, even if his successor was not as mature and responsible as he may have wanted. All of the students at the dojo respected their new teacher, and he ended up marrying one of them, although not before she was pregnant with Youdai.
Having a full family of sword practitioner of course led Youdai to follow in their footsteps, and luckily he truly loved the feeling of a sword in his hands. The boy was a prodagy, not that anyone expected otherwise, and quickly rose to the top of his class by the age of 13. It seemed, however, Youdai's father truly was not mature or responsible enough, for he forgot to instill values and the code of the sword in his son, one who seemed to have no desire to succeed his father. Though, with no alternative, it may have been bound to happen, if not for a world-affect event that occured only a few months after Youdai's fourteenth birthday. Gol D. Rodger, the king of pirates, was executed. Adventure, treasure, experiance, and romance, all these things were promised if he chose to head a pirate ship. How could he resist? For two more years he honed his skills, trying to get his family to accept the idea of him becoming a pirate. In the end, even when his parents allowed him, his grandfather would not, so he snuck off into the night. He skillfully cut a row of trees and crafted them into a raft, sailing into the sea.
Youdai managed to gather a crew of five and headed into the Grand Line, defeating many foes and leading a ever-growing crew as he journeyed, reaching the Grand Line and becoming vastly famous. So famous, infact, that his bounty was the seventh highest in the seas. Sadly, this happy adventure couldn't last forever. At the age of 21 he was tricked by a vice-admiral, and was ambushed, captured along with 7 of his men with 20 dead.
Youdai's stay at Impel Down was by far the worst experiance of his life. The day he arrived they chained him to a chair and tested a new invention on him, painfully killing each and every cone cell in his eye to leave him blind. He wanted to avenge his men, he wanted to free his men, he wanted to escape, but he was helpless. It was a feeling he never experianced before and never wanted to experiance, a weakness all of his training couldn't predispose him to. Without his sight, Youdai sat the the corner of his cell on the bottom floor each day in complete silence, wasting away. He would likely sit there until his death if not for the old man in the cell next to him, a master of haki. Although Youdai didn't possess Haoshoku Haki, the stranger managed to teach him how to use the other two over a year despite serveilence. With his new found skills he formulated an escape plan, and succeeded, a changed man.
As a scar of his past, Youdai kept the long hair he had accumulated with his stay in jail, almost a promise never to fall for a marine's trick again, and began to gather his crew, finding out he spent nine years in Hell and his crew had split long ago. With his wisdom he was widely acknowlded and the world considered him a Yonkou, a position he did not deny himself. He currently is looking for his old crew in the Grand Line.
Here's an NPC character that can serve as a good boss.
Name: “He who has surpassed heaven”, Gouki
Age: 32
Bounty: 850, 000, 000
History:
Gouki, along with his brother Gouken, were trained under the same master in East Blue. Both of them were immensely talented and quickly became masters in the art of Ansatsuken, which was a blend of Karate, Judo, and Kempo. The two disciplines soon separated after mastering this art and headed to the Grand Line. Gouken, who arrived at “Paradise”, soon became known as “He who has surpassed nothingness”, as he changed his style of martial arts to become more “pure” and “flowing”. Gouki, however, lurked within the shadows of Paradise and changed his style of martial arts to become more “murderous” and “demonic”. When Gouken returned to East Blue to see his master (after having easily conquered Paradise), he noticed a blood trail in the room. His fellow brother stood before him, with his master’s prayer beads on his neck. Gouken, realizing that he could not match his brother in combat, decided to quickly flee. From there on, Gouki entered the new world and made a name for himself as “He who has surpassed heaven”, and had the kanji of heaven, “天” at his back. Countless pirates and marines, not to mention even a past admiral and some shichibukais fell to him. The strange part to note was that he was only reported to have killed the most powerful beings, and left the weak ones to survive. It was said that his individual power would rival that of a Yonko’s, if a one on one fight ever happened. A few years before the start of “The Journey”, he had discovered his brother’s location and found that he had kept a student. That student was Akimoto Kazunari. From there, he killed his brother and planned on having his student seek him for revenge. Unknowingly, Gouken still lives to this day, eagerly waiting for another confrontation between himself and his brother. With all these events in play, Akimoto’s fate depends on these two masters. Will he become “pure” like Gouken, or “demonic” like Gouki?
At the moment, Gouki walks alone in the New World, eagerly searching for stronger opponents and interesting things in the world to arise.
Powers:
Gouki does not have a devil fruit and relies on pure hand to hand combat. He has completely mastered both Observation and Armament haki. Essentially, he’s very similar to Rayleigh. The main thing to note is that he has such incredible superhuman strength, speed and endurance that what he does may cause others to misunderstand his power as a devil fruit user’s.
For example, he can punch someone so fast that his fist will lit on fire, instantaneously burning his opponent. He can also crack small mountains with a single punch, and cause small earthquakes with a single kick. However, his strength still falls in comparison with that of Whitebeard’s (obviously), despite being superhuman.
Finally, he has a “shin” state, which is used when his life is actually in danger. Normally, he fights with at most, only 20% of his actual strength. When he is in his shin state, he can literally do the impossible as he utilizes his full strength then. He normally follows a “moral code” and does not fight those he considers weak. Only the strong may face him and suffer death by his hand, and only the very strong can ever face him in his “shin” state.
Tell me if I've made him too powerful. My intention was to make him as strong as possible so that he can be a fitting villian : P
Id like at least 4 ships maybe more depending how much members we have but only 11 at most also would like option to join luffy crew with 2 ships its to much people on same ship would get boring or annoying and crowded also would like to start off on own till find ship to join
I think you've misunderstood the point of this club, we are not going to have four ships, three at most, though it still looks like there are only going to be two.
And you can't join Luffys crew, they are not in this RP, or atleast not yet.
Also Admirals are Admirals, Youkai are Pirate Lords that control parts of the new world, and Schichibukai are warlords employed by the marine.
Memories are the materials of a Soul, it is what makes and defines you.
And as such, blood is the currency of the soul, the silver plate of the will.
