I don't think this is going to get as good as the OVA, ever.

They ruined the characters and the animation quality is just.. bad.
What the hell did they do to my Chikaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

I think I'm dropping this already.

The thing about the ecchiness is...it's supposed to be there. It was in the manga, and it was a core element of the storyline itself. These young kids are right at that awkward age where they are just starting to grow out of their childhood ignorance and notice that they are actually beginning to have feelings and attractions they never had before. That's part of what made the manga and the OVA brilliant. The uncomfortable panty shots parallel the awkwardness of being at that age and thinking things that seem totally foreign, and the characters, much like ourselves, are left feeling confused and guilty. The TV series misses this point entirely.

I'm glad someone saw that the same way I did. I dunno, I'll keep watching it(and the OVA. Still have like two to go on it.) and see where it goes. I can live with the animation loss, but the voices seem off, as does the music as various others have stated. It's only one episode so far, and I won't be so quick to judge, but despite only seeing half the OVA, the OVA just seems better while the TV version just misses the boat.

I needed Ritsu back, capisci?||Desu Ne?

Very disappointing. The animation is too different and half of this episode were re-used jokes. I expected more after those awesome OVAs.

I agree! From the cover image on the MAL page I thought it was gonna be the same art as the OVA but when I started watching, it felt like a different show with the same story and jokes :(. The only thing I'm looking forward to now is

Well, the first episode didn't turn out so great. I tried to enjoy it, but Ryota's voice was annoying and the jokes weren't that funny. The ironic thing is that XEBEC is doing this. A studio that is probably infamous for it's fanservice in Kanokon. Since I'm going to watch so much this season, I'll give this one more episode and see how it turns out. There's always the OVA if I end up dropping it, since I haven't watched it yet.

Am I the only one who enjoyed this..? ._.

Been quite a long time since I saw the OVA, so I had to laugh at some of the reused jokes again and come on people:
This has 12 episodes, the ova had 4, there has to come something new soon. ;)

I enjoyed it as well. I don't care about the censoring. I don't need to see 5th grader panties anyway.

Half of the episode WAS new already. I especially enjoyed the last part.

i just found out that the umbrella part of the first ep was old TOO (omg)
it was from the dvd special of the OVA.....

Yeah it was a misleading image. I deleted it.

Japan: Kids in dirty situations.

It's really weird when they all of a sudden close up on their faces they look like adults.
It's like all of a sudden the camera gets close up and they age instantly.

And oh God that biting situation was going to turn out so dirty.
It was at that point I actually learned.."Wow, this is an ecchi anime".

And I must admit, I didn't see that whole ball situation coming.
Though now looking back on it, it was beyond obvious.

"My ball is bigger than yours". Ball completions. For once people make a undertone comparison of manhood without all the phallus.

Well... I was overall enjoying it and amused. But maybe I'm just having a good overall anime day where everything I'm watching is fun and I'm just in a good mood is why. I dunno though, that Magical Kanan was pretty lame, and this wasn't.

You are wrong. In umbrella part was only in manga.
Please first you watch it and after write something.
Thanks

Bad animation. Hell, the jokes that were a bit laughable in the OVAs were not even in the slightest funny in this series.
(But I like the OP better, I admit it)

I liked it, but I agree that it probably won't be anywhere near as good as the OVA, which I saw for the first time just before watching this. The first two stories were kind of meh, because the OVA did them better, but I liked the latter two -- the air guitaring in story three was my favorite part. That is such a little kid moment, and it made me smile. :)

I like the new character designs and even though I only recently watched the OVA it still kept my attention despite half of it being a rehash.

I'll keep watching this since the new parts are kind of awesome, that umbrella skit with Ryouta not wanting to be in the middle with those two cute girls was hilarious, he's going to kick himself in the balls when he's older.
It's funny because it's true :)

Then there's the brutally noticeable drop in animation quality. Why? Where's the business sense in that? Also, why go over old material in a worse manner instead of improving upon the original?

The overall feel given off by the TV series has lost almost all of what made the manga and the OVA brilliant. Nezerchin also remarked on the music earlier. I couldn't agree more. This was one of the aspects that the director of the TV series completely failed at. The innocence of youth is the very foundation of the story! How could they fail at something as important as the BGM for setting the proper atmosphere?

I'm severely disappointed at what they've done to a brilliant story.

Same here... I guess because I watched it some time ago I was really excited to see 12 episodes of it, but when I saw the first... well it was a big disappointment. Probably because I had my hopes high up and thought it will be a continuation of the OVA... But bad seiyus, music, animation and the cuts compared to the OVA are a bit too much. I could compromise with 1 or 2 but all 4... It's hard.

I rarely drop series even if they are bad, but I don't wanna ruin the image that the OVAs left... so sadly... dropped!

The OVAs already covered all of the material, so this TV series is kinda... pointless. But I loved the OVAs, so I will be following this, I guess. Does look disappointing so far though.

is this true? D:
I hope they will come up with new material and stop using the OVAs by the next 2 or 3 episodes.
because if the tv series turns out to be just the OVAs with a little extra, then yeah, it will be disappointing

as for the animation; already forgot how the OVA animation was like, so will watch the special later; I think its cute too (chika doing the air guitar<3 adorable) but when they do the close ups, some just look weird while some do pass;

thank god for the censoring (actually I dont really care either, but I prefer w/o)
that was one of the reasons why I dropped "jikan something" (xD) although, I may pick it up (like months from now) because of the comedy...
