The theory now is that making OVA and bundled it with the manga tankobon is more profitable than committing to a whole cour (with the extra cost of getting the TV broadcast slots) and not knowing if the whole series can sell or not. Since SYD follows quite closely to its original manga contents, perhaps they think that without previously watching it fans would still be persuaded to buy the anime when it comes out. |
| So MAL finally starts locking news threads that are only a few weeks old? I wonder where was the announcement of this change? Or we are seeing yet another case of changes made that impacted users but not communicated to them? I wonder how long people would put up with this. As much as I have a bunch of information to share about anime announced recently I cannot share it in news board, and the anime series is too disorganized and chaotic to share information except with people already interested in the particular series. |

Making a 1 cour series can be money wasting if it doesn't sell like intended, doing it this way is a much safer alternative, and gives us fans more SYD. People complaining about a new season, you realize with this announcement, that's technically halfway thru the second season :P Hell, we almost at the point where a THIRD season would be needed. |
