The theory now is that making OVA and bundled it with the manga tankobon is more profitable than committing to a whole cour (with the extra cost of getting the TV broadcast slots) and not knowing if the whole series can sell or not. Since SYD follows quite closely to its original manga contents, perhaps they think that without previously watching it fans would still be persuaded to buy the anime when it comes out. |
