Idk if anyone has mentioned this on here before but i just wanted to say. It would be really nice to have a thank you system on here, or a up/down vote system, a lot of forums have them where it would limit the amount of people just replying to a user by saying thank you which is kinda just making a thread more cluttered than it should be, having that system in place would allow people to show users their appreciation for their help without over flowing the threads. Up voting or down voting can help people see who's opinions are great as oppose to those which a pointless and should be over looked. Also, it would be cool to be able to search the forum for titles before posting so no one will make any similar posts. |

Too subjective. A "great" opinion can just be something more people agree with without necessarily being good(IE someone calling X show "___shit"), or can just be someone trying to be funny and getting a bunch of upvotes. Vice versa, a well thought-out opinion that goes against the majority could possibly get downvoted all the way. Really, the only advantage I can think of to a system like that is reducing "this" or "+1" posts. The sad news is that I've seen the same thing tried on a few forums, and nothing changed. If you want to get into a discussion, then you should read the whole discussion or at least the last few pages. |

There would probably be the same amount pointless posts, from people just trying to rack up positive (or negative) votes. ![]() |

No, the mere thought of all the sad attempts at being funny that would ensue is repulsive. Yeezus walks. |

Verdale said: http://myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=459135#msg15679927 If it's about induvidual posts, I don't think it's the same as user rep. I think having an up or down or maybe a like system would be a good addition. I always see people saying that it'll discourage discussion and thoughts, but I think it's helpful to have it if you find a post helpful or funny (or maybe it's not helpful at all), but not necessarily have anything to say to contribute to discussion. A search feature would also be a good addition. At least like twice a week there's people in the Anime/manga recommendation board who ask for "horror" or "bloody" or "samurai" anime/manga, but it fills up so fast with threads that if a new poster is checking back to see if someone asked a similar request, they probably aren't checking back far enough. It's the same for threads in the other boards too, so a search bar could really help de-clutter the boards in the future. |

There have been quite a few posts on the search feature in suggestions. Here's a more recent one http://forum.eternalwars.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=7640 At any rate, it doesn't look like we'll be seeing this anytime soon. As far as up/down voting, I don't really see the point. |

Just reduces the quality of the posts. Yeezus walks. |

I agree with Josh on this one. I have this in my university forum and it's pretty useless. Most thankyous/thumb ups are directed toward blatant troll/funny posts rather than comments that is actually productive or have some fruitful thought to them. In theory it could be a good addition, in actual use though it feels like there's more deliberate attempts at jokes than not. Then again, it's not like MAL is like this already. |

Not to mention that people seem to notice the highest voted posts before they check out the other stuff. It ends up becoming a diversion tactic. I'm disappointed that MrB actually implemented that.People try to say funny stuff to be top commented http://www.basilmarket.com/forum/2449206 But then again, it's the chat island. Obviously half the top comments will be nothing but jokes. |

If this gets implemented, we'll just devolve into jokes and trying to sound deep and philosophical. You know, just like youtube. I'd really rather not. |

The last thread that someone posted like this (Monkey) got locked.. so I assume the same thing is going to happen to this one, but I guess my opinion on the subject is the same as most people. It's too subjective. ![]() |
