Definitely Fullmetal Alchemist (the original, not Brotherhood). Overall, the series was very well done and I absolutely loved it, but the ending was awful and didn't give enough closure for a series that was going in such a great direction. It was really disappointing.

Higurashi no Naku Koro ni. If you haven't watched it, it is *not* a murder mystery. That might save the show for you, hehe.

I watched it in three sittings, but would have more happily in one. Too much homework during the schoolyear, ugh. I was glued to the screen every second with only more suspense as I completed each episode. There was no doubt in my mind that this would become my favorite anime of all time by the end.

**Not to mention that Rena is CUTE. Rena made the show worth watching. I hated the twins at first, but I really liked them after a few episodes, too.

wait... did you actually see the second season or are you just talking about the first one? (mainly asking this because I don't see it on your list xD)

Yeah you really need to see the second season. It's hard though... they -never- should have made the show that way. The fact that they would take 26 episodes to replay the events and such to be explained in the second season... they should have at least split it up or something. I almost stopped watching after the first half because I didn't like it, but only continued because I heard that the second season made the show.

I would agree completely and think it made for a really interesting story in it's entirety, but I have to wonder how many people gave up or cursed the show as terrible if they didn't have someone telling them to watch the second half.

Katanagatari. Beautifully done in all other respects but the ending.

Come to me if you need some fucking common sense.

A friend let me watch the second half with him. I never got around to adding it to my list, though. It didn't help the series for me.
Captain! Captain, please try and catch it!

RIP the English language

Yea it was pretty bad to the point where a second season is impossible unless it gets the FMA:Brotherhood treatment.

There's a lack of Clannad AS because the ending was fine and fit with the story.

Chrome Shelled Regios

I loved the story, the characters, the music, everything!
But it ends with all questions unanswered, it really needed more caps or a 2nd season to explain everything.

I hope you know mentioning the word "twins" is a spoiler itself... -facepalm-

The Girl Who Leapt Through Time
I wasn't absolutely loving the movie as I watched it since I found the main character to be pretty annoying, but I still liked it. And then the ending was so disappointing.
