cat_clan said: Natsuiro was voted as the most disappointing series of the year in a Biglobe poll. Even if it isn't something official, it does give you an idea of how the fans are reacting to the series. So I don't think is going to be such a strong seller. Which is a shame I must say. Biglobe polls aren't just worthless, they're worse than worthless because they so often don't reflect reality as measured in more objective ways. Especially when they're based on relative expectations like "disappointment". I bet it wouldn't take long to find a poll that lists some 20k+ sellers as the most disappointing show ever. I don't think Natsu-iro will sell a lot (and I don't care either way, I dropped it) but I can't give any credence to Biglobe anything. BUY YUYUSHIKI BDS ALL DAY EVERY DAY |

So far, Spring season is a little lackluster in terms of sales. Which is a bit of a shame, seeing as how is has a lot of (apparently) underrated shows. This does not bode well for the shows still to be released (Nazo no Kanajo X, Sankarea, Dusk Maiden, etc.) |

Hmm was expecting Nyaruko to sell more. Bit worrying. I hope Mysterioux Girlfriend X, Duskmaiden of Amnesia, and Sankarea sell atleast 5k+ per vol with their mangas getting boosts in sales as well. Especially Mysterious Girlfriend X. Totally underrated show this season imo.. I wonder how Hyouka will sell. It's KyoAni which usually attracts sales, but hopefully it wont end up like Nichijou. |

All very good shows (especially the first two), but none will crack 3k at current estimates. Sankarea is doing particularly awfully despite this being its release week. Ranked #510 only two to three days before release? That's the definition of screwed. At least Nazo and Tasogare have snagged a place in the top 100 this week, even if it's too little too late. I guess Nazo has a small chance to break 3k, but I wouldn't hold my breath, unless DVDs rank somehow for like ~500 copies. The ranking threshold will probably be higher than that though. I wonder how Hyouka will sell. It's KyoAni which usually attracts sales, but hopefully it wont end up like Nichijou. It's definitely doing a lot better than Nichijou ever did. It has had the highest average rank on Amazon throughout the preorder period of any show this season. (55th; Nyaruko averaged 62nd). But I think it'll end up selling about 7k first week, since it hasn't spent a much time ranked very highly (~top 25 or so) like Nyaruko has. BUY YUYUSHIKI BDS ALL DAY EVERY DAY |

The only thing I'm pleased about is that the Space Brothers and Kuroko no Basket sales on their songs are doing great :D |

Man.....I fear for Kuroko now. EDIT: But Kuroko hasn't been that high or that low...both BD and DVD have averaged a good spot right? Accel World's ranking fell too...I think it was in the top 100 but now in the top 200? Modified by phoenixalia, 06-26-12, 10:41 AM |

phoenixalia said: You say not even Hyouka would cross ~10k? Man.....I fear for Kuroko now. Based on current estimates, no, at least not first week. Hyouka would have to be underestimated by Stalker whereas everything else has been moderately overestimated. Possible but not likely based on current trends. What it has in its favor, maybe, is that it didn't spend a lot of time in the extreme high rankings so its points might not be as skewed as Nyaruko's. :;shrugs:: EDIT: But Kuroko hasn't been that high or that low...both BD and DVD have averaged a good spot right? Basically. Neither is high but it's pretty evenly split, and two okay sales can combine to one very good sale. Maybe. Accel World's ranking fell too...I think it was in the top 100 but now in the top 200? It's been down below 100 for a good while now. It doesn't come out for a month yet though. Still, if episode 11 didn't get a big boost in sales I'm not sure what will. BUY YUYUSHIKI BDS ALL DAY EVERY DAY |

Even if the BD/DVDs don't sell well for those three, hopefully their respective mangas will get a nice boost to justify a second season. As for Hyouka, it's good to hear it's doing decent. Though I doubt KyoAni is worried too much since they have cashcow franchises they could fall back on if they ever need it. They're one of the studios with a lot of flexibility in regards to what shows they do. Just an announcement on a new season for FMP, Haruhi, K-ON, or Lucky Star would shake the industry lol. |

I saw Sankarea was about 25% higher in the latest volume of the manga, but I don't know what the long term trend is. No idea on Nazo or Tasogare. As for Hyouka, it's good to hear it's doing decent. Though I doubt KyoAni is worried too much since they have cashcow franchises they could fall back on if they ever need it. Hyouka should be fine as long as it doesn't bomb (like, 4k or less), because it's already a success. I say that because the novels have seen an absolutely enormous increase in sales since the anime was announced. The first volume was under 70k before the anime got it into the rankings again (and surely a chunk of that 70k came from the moment an adaptation was announced), and is now going to be in excess of 200k when this week's figures are posted. The other volumes have gone up a lot too: Vol. 1: 69,394 → 194,993 Vol. 2: 45,935 → 120,096 Vol. 3: 41,198 → 102,224 Vol. 4: 63,506 → 120,527 Or a net gain of more than 317,807 (~80k/vol) copies, and increasing at a steady pace every week. Figure another 30-40k total added this week. Pretty crazy. The fifth volume which originally came out a while ago gets its bunko release soon I think and will be tracked from that point onward. Rereleasing the novels with anime character design covers was a brilliant move. They're one of the studios with a lot of flexibility in regards to what shows they do. Just an announcement on a new season for FMP, Haruhi, K-ON, or Lucky Star would shake the industry lol. Yeah, though FMP less so. It's asked for all the time, but was never a 10k seller even under KyoAni, though Fumoffu and TSR were some of their first series, before they became one of the best known studios ever. FMP sales are solid, but not huge. I wonder if a trturn after all this time would see a big sales revival, or go out with a sales whimper like Shana/ZnT. jmal said: Its current DVD score is 1,350 and Nyaruko's is 1,810; we know Nyaruko was overshot about 30%, so the same would put Natsu-iro around ~1k DVDs, since it has a few days to go. Better than some other male otaku shows but if that's, say, ~20% of the total sales then BDs would be about ~3.5-4k for not quite 5k total. Dunno, we'll see in a week. I don't know, I'm even asking myself if it will break the 3k barrier combined. Taking in consideration Amazon Stalker at least. As you say, I guess we'll see next week. jmal said: Hyouka should be fine as long as it doesn't bomb (like, 4k or less), because it's already a success. But how much of this generated revenue actually goes to the Committee of Hyoka and how much does Kadokawa Shoten keeps, that's a good question. I know it's beneficial for the franchise as a whole, but was it beneficial for all the parts involved. I know it's beneficial for the franchise as a whole, but was it beneficial for all the parts involved. Nobody can claim to know the exact inner workings and revenue splits of an anime production committee, but I'm willing to bet Kadokawa has the largest stake in Hyouka. They had the most to lose, and thus expect the lion's share of any gains. Especially since they distribute not only the novels, but also the DVD/BDs. I'm guessing most production committees work under the assumption that not every member is an equal partner. For example, I doubt Lantis (who distributes the OP/ED) had any expectations of making as much money as Kadokawa on the franchise. Or losing as much money if it flopped, for that matter. All balances out in the end. BUY YUYUSHIKI BDS ALL DAY EVERY DAY |
