Wow seems like thorfin won't stay silent now , that there is hope . Will they be the ones to explore greenland ? or maybe they will reach America o.o . I wonder if iceland was explored already by 11th century o.0 it's not far from nords so it is possibility that they are talking about it..... however one thing tht interest me is whether all of them will escape ...

Vinland is the part of America discovered by Leif Eriksson around year 1000. The plot of the manga was obvious from the very beginning. Also, you should remember that Thorfinn comes from Iceland so it's obvious it was already explored. That without saying that all the plot is based on Nordic sagas and all the characters are real.

Great story but I'm wishing for more action. I thought this manga was about vikings. A better name for it would be Farmland Saga...

Wow. Best chapter we've had in a while.

This story is about quite a bit more than just vikings. Granted, the action in the earlier arcs was top-notch and it's easy to see how much of a cocktease the current arc is to some people, but if you think the Viking violence was the whole point then you're clearly missing the big picture.

I don't see the appeal action would have here, as awesome as it was in the beginning. Just wish for something to happen.

Very good chapter indeed.

If they ever try to go there, I hope at least he will get to tell his mother and sister that he's still alive (been wanting that for ages).

Farming was a huge part of the viking way of life. It wasn't all about the pillaging and plundering.

connecting slavery and war, commentary on Nordic society, reflections on the main characters past and his guilt...finally his motive, redemption. All touched upon nicely, and a 32 page chapter to boot.

Thorfinn's guilt would probably be viewed by some as naive and unfitting for 'action' manga character, but I find it very convincing, and quite realistic. More interesting is the reason for thorfinn's toil as a slave, building and growing wheat, the whole justification for "farming", its not merely because he is a slave, he need not be a slave. We all know how easy it would be for him to escape this life, but he chooses to be a slave and work his ass off, and find a place where he can live in peace; something that not many readers seem to appreciate, especially people thirsting for violence, and wanting things to happen for entertainments sake only.
