It would be nice if the Block feature on here prevented blocked members from viewing your list and profile. Blocking is two-way so if you block someone, you won't be able to see their list and profile, either.

[7/15/2012 edit] Also, when someone has been blocked, they will not be able to see the posts/comments/reviews of the other user at all. Their username will also be hidden from the site. Thanks to noyoureinsane for bringing this up. Oh yeah and the blocking system can easily be bypassed simply by viewing as a guest so I also suggest an option to hide your profile and list to Registered Users Only. The Recently Watching section of your profile should also have its own privacy feature. It's kinda stupid how you can set your list to private but have your Recently Watched section wide open to the public.

I'm going to assume that User A's reviews, comments, forum posts, etc. wont be visible to User B if User A has them blocked then, right? Plus their username won't appear anywhere on the site to User B if they're blocked, correct?

If I block someone, I want them to have nothing to do with me or see what I'm doing. I agree on adding this to the block feature - it needs more then just preventing them from commenting/messaging you.

Yes, User B will not be able to see posts, reviews, and comments that User A has posted if he/she has been blocked. As for not being able to see User A's username, I guess it comes down to whether MAL can handle it or not. But the more privacy, the better.

Blocking feature would work only if that user is locked in. User locks out and sees comments, reviews and list once again, so what's the use really? In the end the block feature would work only for retards and americans, if anyone, I guess those are also the only ones who would need it. Sorry shit joke, but yeah.

This topic of blocked profiles has come up before and the answer has been no. This was Xinil's stance on it years ago and I doubt that has changed.

As for the level of blocking you're discussing, the amount of work needed to implement that is not worth the gains, especially any time in the forseeable future.

If someone is harassing you, then block them and/or report them. If you don't want anyone to see your hentai, set your list to private. If you really can't stand to see someone's posts on the forum because you'll be a jerk to them and get yourself banned, then there used to be an ignore script running around that could serve your purposes. It won't stop others from seeing your posts though.

However, a "friends only" option for lists rather than only private and public (like blogs) may be a possibility some time in the distant future, if it's really seen to be a need.

I understand and tolerate Xinil's opinion on this but I have to say I disagree with it. If someone doesn't want you to look at their stuff, then that's how it should be. It's not very fair that you have to keep your things open to the public just because no one wants to improve the privacy settings on MAL. But of course no one is forcing you to have a public list so there's an option for Private. Oh wait. Now you have to hide your list from everyone just because you don't want one person to see your list.

But that's just my opinion. I can see this won't be implemented and I can live with it. Just wanted to put that out there.
