So much hate in this thread...

There's many different types of people. There's pretty much both fans and haters of any genre of anime. There's people who relate shows like Avatar and Teen Titans to anime and those that have an irrational hatred for that train of thought. There's people who argue constantly about subs vs. dubs, people who prefer one over the other, people who are absolute dicks to people who prefer a version that isn't the one they watched, and people who are less biased on the subject. Armiga21's posts in this thread in particular remind me that there are anime fans who, regardless of where they're from, like to bitch about the most trivial of things.

So instead of generalizing and insulting different types of anime fans, I'll simply say that Western fanbases are alright. They have their similarities and differences to Japanese fanbases, and all other fanbases. And really what more needs to be said?

Western fans are mostly idiots because few of them watch anything outside of the mainstream circle. I've met people like this, and I've made the effort to see if they were interested in watching some established classics, or maybe some hidden gems.

Nope. DON'T LIKE THE DESIGNS, TOO OLD LOL.

Worthless. Granted, I think a large group of anime fans are like this.

No usually dubs edit things out, which is very disappointing. So subs in my opinion are way better.

Oh look, someone seems to be stuck in 1997. What a surprise.

come back and defend mondern dubbing as good when they can handle and Dub Osaka people right do t have to show you a map of Japan to show that Osaka is not that far south to worrent such a deep south accent when dubbed

I have the feeling a single digit post account is the one trolling with the "all you fans suck" attitude. It doesn't really help that your post was only spurred in an attempt to take the focus away from the topic at hand.

Yeah, you're right. All of those 2-4 anime that have characters with southern accents represent the sinfulness and depravity of anime being dubbed in English.

Trolling 101. If someone already realizes that you're a troll, it's best not to try to "troll" them any further.

And that says nothing about your first post in this topic nor the posts where you had to simply remind us how all fans suck.

Goodness everyone...

To start with everything that has a fanbase, regardless of what it, has people that are open minded and people that are close minded.

Westerns, especially Americans, have a very poor opinion placed on them that stems from beyond anime, so when asked a question like this things begin to unravel quite a bit.

Speaking as a member of the Western Fanbase, I know that there are those who are quite interesting. Liking something is not restricted to where you live or where you were born. People will always be passionate about something. They might be passionate about what you call trivial or stupid, however that is the way it works.

Enjoying the fanbase is not a requirement for liking anime.

Western fans are the topic and there will be positive and negatives views about Western fans. The so called bashing you see is just people voicing their negative opinions.

If you want to bash Japanese fans then please do make your own topic on the matter instead of trying to derail this one.

I am merely saying that is the nature of a fanbase in general. It matters not who is more close minded.

I didn't think I was basing western fans, however most topics like this end of that way. It is sad however it is the truth.

I love your delicious ironic tone.

The American Southern accent and the Kansai dialect are both sneered at by the up country sophisticates, well I've always considered it to be the biggest reason. Also they seem to share some of the same stereotypes such as being less intelligent and too loud.

The accent is also dubbed with other accents, I seem to remember a Boston accent being used for Naru Osaka in Sailor Moon.

It was a big mistake to think that you're the only one who can turn into a car. I'm a car now too!
