Definitely, Pirlo's was way better, was a bit more surprising as well.

Probably C.Ronaldo didn't take the penalty because Casillas would have a pretty good chance at stopping it.

A bit disappointed that Spain won with their stupid Barca soccer, even though it did take penalties, hope they learn from this and put back in Torres.

What game were you watching, Portugal had like, 4 or even 5 clear scoring opportunities while Spain had 2 at most.

No, he is completely fit, but the Spanish coach just doesn't want a real striker, that Negredo or w/e his name is didn't play well, Llorente hasn't played neither, if they play like this against Italy/Germany, they probably will lost with 6 midfielders.

I think it's safe to say that Spain clearly misses David Villa.

I'd say the match was pretty much balanced at its two halves, with phases of dominance of both teams, till the extra time which was clearly dominated by Spain.

I liked the game. Here the Spanish commenters were getting alarmist at everything, saying it was a bad match by Spain... I guess they have to say that every time the thing doesn't work as against Ireland and France. So the game was difficult for both teams, and both teams had a relatively great day. I prefer that to an easy win as it happened with the two mentioned above and a totally undeserved one like the match against Croatia. It was really thrilling, it's been a long time since I didn't have this fun watching a football match.

absolutely, but I don't like Spain. I want this tournament to be won by anybody but Spain. There were three teams in this whole EURO I didn't want them to win (from those who would have chances):
Denmark, Spain, England. anybody, be it even Greece, except these three

Because Ronaldo is a huge pussy. He should have been the first one to shoot, not the last. Waiting to hear if it was the coaches decision or if it was his. If it was his, he's going to catch a TON of shit for it.

I thought in extra time Spain completely dominated, but that was more because Portugal took a defensive stance to allow it to go into PK's. The game itself was boring, per usual for Spain games.

Ramos' PK was disgusting. Awesome stuff from him.

Anyway, I didn't think the game was boring, and if so, certainly not because of Spain's style. They didn't make many unnecessary passes.

Honestly both teams were great, but I believe Portugal would have won if they had out Ronaldo to shoot. Portugal should have won, and honestly those referees WTF, Ive never seen a game with so many yellow cards for nothing. Also Portugal is known by their bad luck take the example of Greece x Portugal on the finals of UEFA Euro 2004: the guys played two times better than Greece, yet they lost. Bad Luck.

Does he? After the game they were speaking of several times where he had shot first and missed. Maybe they were just using a hypothetical. Either way the best players usually don't shoot last in a PK from my experience, maybe I am wrong though.

I guess it's not the style per say, I just always feel bored when I'm watching Spain play.

I never thought I'd say this, but I kind of want Italy to win as of now. We'll have to see how they play tomorrow first, of course.



That's what an informed person told me at least, haha. I agree that the best penalty kickers should shoot first, starting strong is a must (which neither side did in that shootout oddly enough). Not necessarily Ronaldo first, but he should have shot second or third for sure.

The funny thing about it was when Bruno Alves first stepped up to take the PK, Nani came in out of nowhere and pretty much said, "No, I got this". It would have been pretty hilarious if Nani missed there. One would have wondered if Ronaldo would have probably wanted to do the same there.
