Damn it guys...Germany has such a tough path to get to the semi-finals, I'm kind of nervous.

...

Wait a second...They're playing Greece! That's the semis right there easy

My predictions for the upcoming games:

Czech vs Portugal: Portugal win 1-0 or they tie and Portugal advances by pk's.

Germany vs Greece: Germany 2-0.

Spain vs France: Spain 1-0.

England vs Italy: I think Italy in pk's.

The group phase is finally over, now the real tournament starts. Looking forward to it.

Stupid English and the blind referee, Ukraine deserved to play in the knock out phase, also what a shot by Ibra, I think he at least showed who's boss there.

Knock-out phase starts tomorrow, Will be pretty exciting, predicting:
Czech - Portugal 0-2, Czech are good, but without Rosciky they are going to lose.
Germany - Greece 1-0, somehow I think the Greece are going to play good, but then get countered and Germany is going to defend like a wall.
Spain - France 1-1 (Spain wins in PK's) Spain is good, but with that Barca style, they are just not good enough to easily win a match, hope Torres gets to play again.
England - Italy 0-1, Wow, even with Rooney back they still somewhat suck, Yes, they finished first, but they were equal if not worse in the game against Ukraine yesterday.

Also small update: Van Bommel apparently doesn't want to do anything with the Dutch national team any more, not too surprising after his poor leadership as captain.

Agreed about Spain's play. They need a ruthless and consistent finisher (ie. Messi on Barca), and they just haven't found one yet. That said, they are still my favourites. All it takes is one striker to find form and Spain have the potential to start putting goals away like nothin'.

Really excited now that group phase is over. I'm pulling for the Czechs tomorrow. No particular reason, I just like to see underdogs win rather than traditional powers. I'm sure it'll be Spain vs Germany in the final probably :D

Portugal isn't exactly a "traditional power" considering they have yet to win their first Euro or world cup. They're more like a small county that punches well above their weight in football/soccer (kinda like Uruguay but to a lesser extent).
Most people didn't even expect them to advance past the group stages (myself included) and yet I've been impressed by all 3 of their games! They had double the amount of shots on goal than all 3 of the teams they faced despite less possession in all 3 games.
Having watched England, Spain, Italy and Greece play, I think Portugal should defeat any one of those teams this year. We'll see how the Czech Rep game goes.... maybe I'll be eating my words later xD

That said, it still looks like Germany will win Euro 2012 to me ;)

I really see Germany taking it all this year. They may have a tough path, but they play with a sort of resilience that I don't think can be matched. Well, maybe the Spaniards could, but even that may be a long shot. Go Deutschland!

The Czech are playing surprisingly without Rosciky, also lawl at the two yellow cards, Portugese hasty? and the injury of Postiga, too bad, but I am rooting for the Czech Republic.

Edit: Honest is honest, that was a great goal, C.Ronaldo might be a diver, a drama queen, but at least he does score, unlike others *cough* van Persie *cough*

I will be supporting Portugal, but I hate, I detest their aggressive style football. One of the dirtiest football national teams

Portugal in the first half only began looking good near the end. Czech republic was definitely outplaying Portugal in the first 20 minutes howr!
Ronaldo's attitude pisses me off though! You have one great game and you think you're God again?

Great goal from C. Ronaldo, but Portugal should have scored more honestly and it wasn't all that great of a game. Cech was fantastic for the Czechs.

What was the final shot tally? 22 to 3?

Really, that style of defensive play (also looking at you Greece) makes for incredibly boring games! If it weren't for Portugal's pressure during the second half, this would've put me to sleep!

edit:
20-2 shots 5-0 on goal...
Portugal vs Spain/France should be good, but at this point I predict Portugal - Germany final with Germany winning it all.

Man wtf was going on in the head of these guys blasting shots like a home run IN the penalty area? Seriously there was like at least 3+ in the last 20 minutes or so. But 20 shots was pretty ridiculous overall.

I did not see the game but from the look of the stats it looked like Portugal were all over the Czech and should have scored more. Nice to see Ronaldo playing as good as he does for his club now for his country. The semi with Portugal vs France/Spain should be good with Ronaldo hitting form at the right time.

my hopes: Portugal - done
Germany
France
Italy

what will happen:
Germany
Spain
England

semi-finals: DE-ENG (ENG wins, because luck is at its best), SP-POR (Spain wins)
final: England - Spain, England wins
I think this is THAT year when luck plays its game in football (remembah Chelsea, City....)
but I HOPE it's not

What a borefest that was. Makes you wonder how the Czechs ever managed to get to the quarter finals. Pathetic.

You can expect more of the same with Greece vs Germany... Greeks are excellent defensively and typically park the bus versus stronger sides (they wait for the perfect counter-attack chance), but that makes for terribly boring football!

So if Greece wins today, does that mean Germany has to bail them out?

It's a great opportunity for Greece since Merkel will be on the field. If they are ahead 10 minutes before the end or they go to penalties i suggest that they send the coach to negotiate giving the Germans the game for a new low interest loan or new course out of the austerity measures.

Well let's look at the bright side: if Greece wins the Euro they can at least sell the trophy on e-bay to promote the economy, y'a know ...

On topic though the Greeks seem to have significant players missing. Ether from red cards or injured. If we take into account that Germany is already quite stronger anyway, they are gonna have hard 90 min.

No Gomes, but Podolski, I hope Germany isn't underestimating Greece too much, would be stupid to lose because of that.

Edit: Ha, Germany has problems making the plays, as expected from a counter team, they'll need to create a goal with their own play making skills, if they can that is. Greece is playing really dirty though.

Great goal from Lahm. It was going to happen eventually with all the chances. Just want Klose to score one though. On the flip side, Schweinsteiger's really had a poor game thus far.

Also, does the Greek goalie know that it's okay to use your hands?

Reminds me of Euro 2008, lol. Germany was playing pretty damn good offensively but they lost in the final since they didn't get enough possession with Spain doing their usual passing game.

Weakest game at this tournament. Might have been interesting if it would have been 0-0 till later in the game, after all the germans were kinda starting to panic after missing all those chances, but then Lahm scored and probably killed this game, Chelsea played just as ugly as Greece, against Barca and Bayern, but they had some good players.

At least once it's over I won't have to hear all those lame jokes that surrounded this match, basically the same joke over and over again.

@Tachii: ....it's a joke right!? the two games can't be compared, also Spain had the greater goal opportunities in that final, just search for the match report that clearly proves what I said.

Really closely contested first half! This one could go either way... LOL riiiiiight

Greece should've faced the Czech Rpublat way NOBODY would've watched that bore fest and the world would be better place! At least that would've been a close game ... an incredibly boring (probably 0-0) that would've been resolved in PK's.

Wow Greece is playing way too dirty, defensively and 22% possession, wow, hoping Germany is going to win this one, Greece is playing bad and not showing any good looking football.

To go along with the theme: Greece is showing Germany what they think of the cuts they need to make.

Khedira's not having any of it. Straight out of FIFA 12, that one.

Edit: Then sure enough, Klose scores. Too easy. Game. Blouses.

I hoped for some tense moments after Greece scored, but now...I just don't care anymore, just watching Germany score is boring, maybe at least the goals will be nice. Also, Goetze is a fantastic young player, so I want to see him play.

Win as expected. They didn't even get nervous after that 1-1 and just answered right back.

Both greek goals were presents fom Germany. That totally unnecessary turnover (they had WAY too many of that, some awful passing, especially by Schweinsteiger) and that penalty was also pretty stupid.

But some VERY obvious weaknesses in Germany's play, especially in transition from offense to defense (after those terrible turnovers). If they play like that against a remotely decent team, they'll get their asses kicked...
