Spotlight Character: Tsukasa Domyoji (Hana Yori Dango)  MAL Character Information Page: Tsukasa Domyoji MAL Favorites: 56 For the next week I would like to have everyone familiar with Tsukasa discuss what they think makes him an exceptional character. What attributes make him stand out in the ocean of interesting characters that exist in the realms of anime and manga. Unlike the other two subjects I will not force this conversation to fall into any set structure. Characters that are nominated typically get here because they are adept at breaking the existing character molds and defying definition. Because of this freedom I encourage everyone to do their very best to stay on topic and keep any and all debate civil. Have fun and I look forward to seeing what everyone has to say about this character. Well I took my sweet time replying to this thread. Since I voted for this character might as well state my opinion concerning him. I truly thing he`s an awesome character, considering when the anime was made, he`s not uber gorgeous but still has that certain "je ne sais quo". And his transformation is simply incredible. He is after all the leader of the F4, a spoiled brat that is used to having things his way, who is used to control the school and all the students there. Nevertheless, he manages to transform, to become a better person, to protect when needed and even to face his mother. Call me a sentimental fool but I really loved the idea that he could bring himself down from his throne for a girl. He is simply a character that was created wonderfully and its a total YES from me. ^^  |

After thinking about it, I'd have to say that Domouji is defenitely a really good character. He starts out as such a tough boy, bullying people to the extent where you as a viewer pretty much hate him. However, he makes a total transformation after falling in love with makino. You really see his true colors, his awkwardness, and his stupidity come out. If you compared Domyouji at the beggining of the series to Domyouji at the end, you'd really have two really different characters. For a male lead in a shoujo story, you'd expect a "perfect bishie", but domyouji is really anything but that. If anything, Rui takes over the "bishie" role... but that's not the point here. Overall I think Domyouji is a pretty awesome character and you really grow to love him through watching the show. Everyone I know has started off HATING domyouji, and then ended up loving him. |
