A lot of action packed manga are conveyed much more clearly in an anime form (coupled with decent music). For example, History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi, Dragonball (debatable), Air Gear, and so on. Personally, I watch the anime version because of the stunning visuals not evident in manga. |

Fullmetal Alchemist generally thickened and improved on the manga's plot until it split from the manga completely; then it became worse. Karura_Jiinsaru said: While I´m actually in the minority group, Rurouni Kenshin Tsuiokuhen is highly acclaimed and commonly considered better than the manga arc it comes from. Minority? I thought that was the popular opinion and I was in the minority for thinking the opposite as I think the manga version of the Flashback arc was superior. Everyone loves circle-jerking Tsuiokuhen on every thread about it- at least in my experience. |

Ghost in the Shell - the anime is amazing. Honestly I can't believe how amazing the anime is, and it's so different from the manga. Waaaay better in my opinion! ![]() |

Anime is better than manga for 95% of the cases. Manga lacks the intensity and interest without the music, voices, and movement (and colors, too I guess). |

I found the anime adaptation of 'Monster' to be a little better than the manga. The music, sounds and voices just add so much to the atmosphere of the story that I can't say otherwise. |

As epic as the Fullmetal Alchemist manga was and still is, Brotherhood took it even farther, to reaches beyond any manga's capabilities. ![]() |

one anime that comes to mind is KamiNomi, because it was a good adaptation of the manga with only few changes and great sound and visuals. Elfen Lied was better in the looks department, but lacking in story and character development, compared to the manga, because it was only 13 episodes long. |

Saying the anime is better because it is anime (=has sound and motion) is not really useful. It merely means you enjoy anime more. And that misses the point of the topic. |

All action anime have the potential to excel over its source material. Sadly animation in TV quality is known to have cheap and limited animation where you are not really getting that much umph than reading from still panels. :/ That said, excluding butchering the endings for some, Soul Eater was pretty good in anime (didn't care for the source, but the action was pretty damn good). FMA: Brotherhood obviously for the action, again. I remember Kenichi was pretty good too. I just can't enjoy the manga that much nowadays even though I gave it a 10 back then. I honestly don't like watching fight scenes occur on still panels. No fluidity, no music, no color. It just seems... so boring. |

At least for me, Death Note anime was much better than the manga. The same goes with Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai. And of course, the manga, that are published only after the anime airs (purely just for money) are always worse than the anime itself. |

But it is useful. The topic is comparing manga to it's anime adaptions, why should it be invalid to bring up the strong points of why an anime would be better than it's manga source? Besides it's not as if we are talking about facts here anyways. Thinking an anime or manga is better is always just an opinion to begin with. If we followed your logic we wouldn't have much if anything to discuss here, because that's all this thread really is - a discussion of opinions. The main point of many people here on one side of the fence is that the very nature of animation can bring a story to life in ways that a manga just can't. It all boils down to individual opinions/preferences. However it can't be denied that anime gives you walking, talking characters, the entire story in color, and the ability to bring an action scene to life before our eyes. |

The problem is more that it's just not very interesting to talk about. If someone likes watching anime more than reading manga, then that's fine. But that's very general and there's really just not much to talk about if that's the case. Rather, it's more worthwhile to think of how the changes made by particular adaptations help or hurt the work as a whole. |

Indeed I was mainly just responding to phnsr's post - which left the impression that it wasn't useful to discuss our reasoning behind liking an anime adaption better than it's original manga source - but then what would we even have left to discuss? I was also attempting to address those in this thread who are trying to present there 'opinion' as 'fact' which is just ridiculous. I do agree that it would be more productive to go back to discussing individual titles. My post was less about 'why anime is better than manga' and more about why it is necessary to bring these things up when discussing certain anime adaptations. I mentioned that a person might enjoy an anime adaptation over it's manga source for it's coloring, animated actions scenes etc. - but not all coloring and animated action scenes are created equal and therefore it's not all about 'liking anime better than manga' and it can be quite an important factor when one is discussing their opinion.
