| Did the same thing, I was like wtf. At that moment, I did notice the potential, I felt the movie was very intriguing and enjoyable. It's just something is missing! And then I found out that the movie is the sequel of the previous 2 series. So I watched the series atm. After finishing the 1st season, I know why people rated Suzumiya Haruhi very high, it is one of the smartest franchise ever created. Planning to see season 2 this summer despite all the hate with endless 8, I can see why. Watching the series before the movie is a must, I rated the movie even higher after finishing the 1st season. |

| OK so it's after almost 3 years from my original post! Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! Firstly, thank you guys for the applauses ;) xD Then, no, I haven't watched either season but they are still on my to-watch-list! At last, ppl wonder what my reaction was during/after the movie? | I was like you too. I picked up the movie during a bored night browsing Youtube. Needless to say, I was struck almost instantly with the plot and the characters. Prior to seeing it, I had no idea about the franchise except the God Knows clip on Youtube which had a ridiculously large amount of views. I knew why after seeing the movie xD. I did understand the basic plot theme and felt in love instantly with the melancholic Haruhi. I loved how she changed from such mood into energetic in such a short time. I bought all the novels afterwards and checked out the two previous seasons but the film stands a class of its own, even compared to other franchise. The whole reason I'd got interested in the anime medium again was all thanks to the random bored night I had back then. |
