That's what I heard from a french fan anyway. One of the guy working on the staff is Thomas, he and the rest of the french team is in charge of CG and gave some detail of the show as well as some concept arts so it seem legit.

I suppose that will ultimately depend on the sale numbers. I do hope for a second season, but I won't take it for granted just yet.

Looks good! So I guess sales and then S2 to get $$$ for them. Otakus better be aware there is a S2 planned out so as they spend their $$$ instead of all the stupid stuff like buying AKB's new album times 1000 to get the vouchers, HERE! Spend on 1000s of copies of this so that they make a S2. RIGHT?

I heard all the crazy rumors so I think they should be some vouchers with the BDs/DVDs as to make them spend a lot on this.

-wotas aren't the same as anime otakus, anime otakus hate AKB48. Idol fans might not necessarily be anime fans to begin with.....AKB money come from their CD sales and concerts. Topping Oricon chart with their singles will bring in more endorsements to the group and increase their popularity more. (tho they already have like 14018240 CMs under the sun...)

-wotas aren't the primary bulk buyer. Usually the ones that buy over 1000 copies are non-fans resellers. They strip handshake tickets, voting tickets, photo cards, even CDs and sell it online. It's pretty lucrative because some of the tickets can go for over $100 online and in bulk can go up to $500 and some of the photocards of popular members are sold for over $80 and people buy the $6 ver of the CD for the cover art. People exaggerate the bulk buying or misinformed. Usually people that do it aren't fans but resellers. There's plenty of YJA slots with handshake tickets and voting tickets.

-The election isn't stupid. It determine the promotion the girls get. Higher ranking = more fans = more demands = more TV show appearances.
Anime appeal to anime fans alone. While ranking well in the election give the girls mainstream promotion on TV shows, magazine, dramas, etc I guess the CD sales could help some of the nobodies in this show get more attention but that appeal still limit to anime fans.

But then again, since alot of them wanted to be seiyuus in the first place, so it might help their anime career.

I've heard those hand-shaking events can get a little rough but this was more than I expected. I thought they would have more unruly fans that I've heard about (aside from the bomb threat).

there's alot of fake rumors going around. Like one about a fan gave semen handshake which is fake...it turned out to be another idol group S/mileage that's not associated to AKB at all but sensationalist news site really don't double check.....

Well...IDK about bomb threat....I think that's pretty serious and I've never heard about those situations...it could be drama for the show. There are cases where fans/antis buy a CD just to diss the girl to their face. Which is a waste of money...There are fans of another girls insulting a member in an attempt to "help" out their favorite members.

But most of the time, most fans that go to handshake event respect their boundaries. There's alot of kids and girls at those event. I went to one during their Everyday Kachuusha promotion.
There's guard and staff at each line checking the fan personally to make sure there's nothing suspicious there. There's even hand sanitizers too. In case of verbal abuse....well...hard for anyone to know it's coming so hard to prevent it since the 48 put themselves out there way more than other celebs.

Her outfit is cool. Love her voice too. :3

Chieri seems to be thinking something.

It's my guilty pleasure for the spring season. It's both cute and interesting at the same time. I wasn't expecting anything on the Macross or Macross Frontier level.

I wonder who'll inherit Acchan's name? I hope someone will.

I'm thinking that Chieri thinks his Dad is involve with DES to attack them.

Nagisa is so plain in her uniform, but not saying it doesn't suit her.

I don't get how Orine was so surprised at discovering she would get haters when becoming an Idol. Are there really people that stupid?

You gotta remember these understudies are young girls, assuming around 11-14. (?) I wouldn't call Orine stupid, just naive.

Anyways, I really enjoyed this episode. I didn't care for Orine until now, and this episode really put some more dynamics into her personality and character, along with giving her development and growth. You could say this anime also acts as a 'coming of age' tale, as the characters learn more about the harsh world and learn how to react to it.

So yeah, this gets a 5/5 from me. I'm looking forward to seeing the situation with Chieri and her family being resolved, though I can see them using that as a climax for the story.

To her defence I would say that since she lived in a world where this was banned she might not know about it
and her days were filled more with work than anything else

About families... what's with Nagisa family?! after all she basically escaped from them and her father was employed by government - so news that she was accepted should affect them (loosing a job even maybe)

I never got the impression she was surprise.
She's a kid. It's not just a hater...the kid used a bomb threat. That's probably alot to handle for someone who's only 14 and just recently join the group. It's like celeb expect haters but it still hurt to know these people hate you.

I thought Orine handle it very well actually. She's only young and to get BOMB threats before she's even debuted must be hard. But she still went out there for the handshake event, I felt really proud :')

I loved this episode, this anime is so so good! I love Orine a lot more after this episode and Sonata's outfit was so cute :3 and Orine's first handshake with that little girl was so adorable. The anime's not even finished but I already want season 2!

This ep was pretty awesome. Lol'd @ the hater comments this ep. So true. I admit I'm a hater a lot of times as well.

Handshake event made me lol. Not because it was stupid, but because of the news I've read about fans that shake AKB members' hands after masterbating in the bathroom. Heh. Though I doubt it's true but still wouldn't be surprised since there's some seriously sick and obsessed fans out there.

Last but not least, the mobile suit fights and OTA were pretty cool.
