THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
Another good episode. It started out solid with Mero and a nice intro to her friends. What they found out and their resolve in it. However it really did freak me out what they find out in the following,

HOLY SHIT! VAMPIRES! I was surprised by this. A good element adder.

About the beginning, well it was nice to see Mero in full view and the shrine in plain view. Rea was so nice here to see. With her hair in the wind. I liked how Mero looked at Rea in the spoiler
until her father came here. It was nice to see some feet service of Mero in the spoiler
her feet are so small and MOE. However the best comes in the spoiler
Mero with her first nice blush of course.
Nice to see Chihiro’s lamp here from another angle. The details are nice and so is Chihiro as he is shown here in his tent.

About Mero’s friends, I liked their intro in the spoiler
it was very nice. Seems they are 12 years old and in grade school like Mero. Obviously as the pic above suggests it was pretty fucked up of a vampire thing to put especially with the spoiler
showing the teacher having red eyes. I got to admit I loved seeing how the gang reacts to it all and assesses the whole thing like detectives in the spoiler
nice reactions there, visuals were cool and character expressions were great.

However the best part was the whole alligator part in the spoiler
ROFL SO HARD! The whole assuming of all this from the teacher along with the whole blood drinking just got me the giggles. I loved afterward the depiction of the one of them in the spoiler
first of all so MOE with her being clumsy, then those bones with blood in the thrash. O_O Oh shit pretty much. She was also cute in her eating ways.

Loved the club setup in the spoiler
rather well done. They isolated themselves being unofficial as a club in that stairway. Rather genius despite the space they have to work with.

The other friend in the spoiler
had her nice time in the park on the swing. Her legs are another thing being exposed a little more but regardless the emotional toll in the park was nicely shown. Particularly Mero’s expressions in the spoiler
shows a lot that she has on her mind of rather gloomy proportions.

About the most MOE of Mero, let’s get the most MOE INDUCING HNNNNNNGHHHHHHH EVER! In the following,

One cannot looks away at this depiction of a caring mother caring for Mero when she is a kid and in pain. HNNNNNNNNNGHHHHHH *dies* *is back* Too much MOE! OMG! Just too much.

About the mother being a zombie and failure. I assume with the following spoiler
being my base proof that the mother may have been a zombie experiment that failed and she had to be killed off. As sad and depressive it may be. REALITY SUCKS SHIT! Hence why Mero dwelling on it would only depress her more than anything else.

About Mero’s shopping and meeting Rea. Certainly it was nice to see Mero doing the shopping in the spoiler
however the problem in there was her depression! DAMN IT! Such a let down. Seeing Mero can be contagious in depression. One cannot help but share some of it and take away that pain of hers.

That is until she meets Rea in the spoiler
the graveyard part was the most emotional and that cannot be denied. Rea’s cheer-up try out on Mero to cheer her up was very well shown despite Mero at first not being affected by it. That is at the very least till the spoiler
those BLUSHES OVER 9000 MOE *dies* *is back* twice already it killed me.
Especially for the fact that Mero sees in Rea her mother. This is a KEY element in understanding why Mero is to attached to Rea and suffice to say the episode did that exactly.

About Mero falling, after all that Mero despite panicking and running falls down in the spoiler
and hurts herself. Only to be healed by Rea. That’s very nice and refer to the BTW in terms knowing a pun about this part.

About the preview, to resume in the spoiler
basically all about Rea’s step mother. Bonus goes seeing loli Rea in her swimsuit. MOE is going to kill again some hearts. Despite that a creepy feeling comes as I see the father touching her and knowing about his dirty shit ass picture taking tendencies. Expect fan service of her, cause the manga had it. I am more expecting her to tease out Chihiro.

BTW in regards to the PUN looks no further than the spoiler
a new poster came out of this series and Rea is in there playing together which does tie in with the healing she provides to Mero in this episode. Concidences?

Sister's point of view. Seeing brother's trying his best for someone. Then her friends' in "Zombie Scoop Hunter" talk about zombies around them. 1 was for her pet, alligator. 2 was trash from making of ramen soup with the bones. Sister mentioned about zombie girl in her house, which got one of her friends curious and wanting to see her.

Thinking about not having mother, but only memory of her with bandage trying to check her heat. Then hearing brother arguing with childhood girl. Zombie girl talking to sister. She's jealous of her for being able to do every house chore, and wanting to help out. Then that reminds her of her mother with not able to feel anything with her feel. They cook together and showed her friends to ease her curiosity.

Zombie girl's family side? With their memory?

For next episode that's a little correct. It will be more about Step Mother's past, why she got chosen to be the bride, some fan service to show off her body and most of all her tying in to Chihiro and Rea. In other words ALL WILL BE REVEALED! All that you need to know of her that is basic to know.

Does that clear up preview?

Mero overload this episode and I loved it. Very touching when Mero saw her mother in Rea and then got all flustered and blushing.

Looks like more drunk Aria next episode?

Sankarea starring Mero! That's right, Mero takes the stage in this latest episode. Mero is the younger sister of Chihiro and is an adorable girl I think once you get to know her.

From wikipedia:

Pictures from this episode of Mero and her little story!

Like her or hate her, you gotta admit, she's kinda cute.

Wow - things are getting way out of sequence here - both Mero's story this episode and Rea's mom's story in the preview for next episode.

I'm not a big fan of things being rearranged like this, particularly since the episode was 90% wasted on Mero's classmates. Oh well, I guess that they needed fillers in order to end the anime at a certain spot in the story...

While I found it was a great episode, I was not a fan of the positioning. I would have like to see how the cliffhanger last episode is resolved. The show even seemed aware of this when Mero says "Well then, you folks must be wondering what happens to my brother and Rea." No shit! I was anxiously awaiting this episode as I was genuinely intrigued by the cliffhanger at the end of the last episode. Sadly I was disappointed when that was not what the episode was about.

Did the anime need to dedicate an entire episode to Mero to explain that Mero sees similarities between her mother and Rea? Good story telling would have added subtle scenes about Mero during the previous few episodes to lend some Mero characterization. In addition, I think I liked Mero better before watching this episode. At least, before this episode, Mero had an air of mystery, but now, I know that she has a dull personality and her only purpose is to tell the audience that her grandfather had experimented on her mother.

I really enjoy all the unique camera shots, but what a waste the story has become.

I have a strange feeling the next episode will be my fav XD. I was waiting for them to show more of Rea's step mom.

The Mero episode was nice. It kinda slowed things down and I wasnt really feeling it at first, but the episode instantly got better when Mero and Rea met up.

I do like that Mero explains in the beginning that we'd like to know what happens next to Furuya, but to hold on as we listen to her story. Somewhat funny. XD

I knew it. Her mom was a zombie also. At least that's what it seems like. "...since I'm dead." Seems like she is. Altogether, this episode was nice. The part where she called Rea "Mama", really nice part. I can't explain it in words.

Good episode,Mero special!!

Mero episode, must say it was not a bad filler since i like Mero but to bad that the filler in the end was more about her friends then her at least until the end.

The first part with the crocodile was not bad, kinda slow but good,Mero friend also a zombie lover in a different way XD Also...i want a crocodile as a pet!!!

The second part was better and more about Mero, really loved how she remembers her mother that gives big hints that she was also a zombie.

Mero conversation with Rea in the graveyard the best of the episode,Mero blushing because she remembering her mom in Rea was soooooooooooooooo CUTE!!!!!!

Well at the end was a good episode, next back to the plot with some fillers it seems....cant wait!!

Good episode, but one of the weaker ones. Rea and Chihiro are just more interesting than Mero-chan and her friends (though Mero-chan is extremely cute). It was a nice change of pace, but I prefer the normal pace. Still a solid episode though.

I feel the same way. The tension that had been built up is being frittered away without gaining anything. As I watched this, I was thinking that maybe it was time to lower my rating for the show, which really irritates me since I was really impressed with the first few episodes.

I also didn't like the way the creators pounded us over the head with it, actually overlaying Mero's mother's hands and face over Rea's. Did they change the writer and director or something? It feels like a completely different show.

I'm surprised at the lack of people saying stuff along the lines of "WTF happened to Chihiro?!"

At the end of episode 8 I was excited to see what was gonna happen and then.... this episode happened and completely killed all hope for suspense for me. MAYBE it would have been a good episode if it wasn't after a fucking cliffhanger in which Rea's crazy ass father kidnapped Chihiro!

So yeah, IMO, this episode blew big time

it's called a filler
most shows have this. never heard of it? most fillers are also intentionally located after a cliffhanger

it was an okay filler the latter half of the episode was good (the rea/mero scene) the 1st half not so much although anything with mero in it is pretty cute. anyways fillers usually have some nonsensical scenes that do nothing in terms of story progression.

idk idc
still found it some what enjoyable

Another character exposition, but I'm long past the point of expecting much from the main story and would have been more satisfied by a slightly decent side story. For me, Chihiro's family has always been more interesting, as personalities, than the main cast. Too bad this one was not so interesting. The second half had some merits, but the rest not so much.

What was interesting was Mero copying the Heart Sutra, usually done for good karma. Not that it was especially peculiar for someone living in a temple, but it wasn't something I expected to see in anime.

EXACTLY! Bet anyone 100$ for fun that they will end it with the intro of Daryl in the ED credits and they are going to end it with the resolve of Chihiro and Rea's father. Bet anything that it's the plan.

well i guess take a detour for now for mero ep (all this happen before cat-nap of cat hair boy)

mero doing usual sweep notice her brother more active & duty to rea.
mero & her pals wonder strange stuff like if teacher is "something" with bag & meat.
but it just a pet gator for the teacher to feed with meat.
smelly stuff but smell for ramen making.
mero mention a "zombie" give can't let them see it due temple rules.
one of them oops mention mero's mom (cause she "gone") & only memory of her mom was bandage hand & cold touch.
mero went home hear cat hair boy & wanko blah then go mom's grave.
mero put foods here rea give rea amaze at mero.
during which it's remind mero of her mom within rea then slip feel & rea fix it for mero.
show pic of rea that all folks.

yet another detour ep next is the step-mom.

No follow up to the previous episode in any way. All the tension about Chihiro being kidnapped is gone now. The hell you need filler in a show which lasts 9 episodes? It's not Naruto you know.

and furuya mother was a zombie??? i love how well mero's memories of her mother intertwined so perfectly with rea's interactions with her

(grin) really interesting to see the very wide range of opinions and reactions to this episode.

For me, yes, I found it annoying even last week when we all realized the show would leave Chihiro hanging, but putting that aside I took a lot away from watching this episode, and not just the apparent confirmation that Mero's mother was a zombie. I've decided at this point I like Mero's character much more than any of the others - I just see a lot more depth and expression in her personality. A lot of the episode seemed to spend time on her friends, but you can also learn a lot about somebody by learning something about their friends and the story tied things back to Mero. She feels isolated and alone (maybe even fighting depression?), but unlike her obsessed brother she tries to reach out to other people and has real friends - just not any real relationships within her own family. That she would make a connection between Rea and her mother because of their shared zombie characteristics is sad, however - she really can't move forward because she's looking back.

Rea did win a few points with me this episode when she made her self scarce to avoid getting involved between Chihiro and Ranko. Though I think such efforts are lost on those two it did seem to make an impression on Mero.

This anime keeps mixing up it's episodes. I watched the first two out of order and am REALLY glad I did and this one should have been last weeks and last weeks cliffhanger should have been this weeks!
Pisses me off that they did a freaking filler right after a cliffhanger!

And for that, the anime just lost a point on my list!

And for those of you saying that this wasn't a filer cause it was in the manga, Manga have fillers too! Hell, I've dropped manga cause it turned into nothing BUT filler!
