BBCode or Bulletin Board Code is a lightweight markup language used to format posts in many message boards. The available tags are usually indicated by square brackets ([ ]) surrounding a keyword, and they are parsed by the message board system before being translated into a markup language that web browsers understand—usually HTML or XHTML.
BBCode was first introduced in 1998 by the messageboard software Ultimate Bulletin Board (UBB). This is why BBCode is sometimes referred to as UBBCode.
BBCode was devised to provide a safer, easier and more limited way of allowing users to format their messages. Previously, many message boards allowed the users to include HTML formatting, a side effect of which was that malformed HTML could disrupt the page's layout, or HTML could be used to run JavaScript leading to XSS attacks. Some implementations of BBCode have suffered problems related to the way they translate the BBCode into HTML, which could negate the security that was intended to be given by BBCode. An alternative is a properly written HTML filter (many of which are freely available).
Although the basic tags of BBCode are similar in most internet forum software, there is currently no standards document for BBCode and there are consequently many incompatible variants. Some variants are case-sensitive while others are not. Some variants have tags which highlight the formatting of HTML, ASP, PHP, SQL and other markup languages and programming languages. Although BB Codes DO NOT translate into a CSS Code format. A CSS Code is a strong code type allowing it to format into any website formatting without breaking.

BB-codes are basicly just a way to pimp up your post and make it easier for others.
Here on MAL we use mostly the BB codes for our layouts, such as this clubs layout which is rahter an easy one.
Anyway its very usefull to know how you use them so just read on.
Ok now we're going to use the BB-codes, it's acutally really simple.
the format of a BB-code is always the same.
Im goint to show you with some help of colors, so it will be more clear. [code text]Text[/code text]
so now that you've seen the formate of the code I'll show you the rest of them in the exact same colors so you will see them. The more you use the BB-codes the easier they get.
Instead of the green "Text"you can add any other text you want
Im going to show you now how you make the codes and what they do, Since I use all the colors to show you the format the codes how they should be are next to them. You have to take over the codes minus the " * " I only put it there because else the code will be activated. At last I show an examle of how it should look.
And tips at some points.
If there is (*) it means I will tell you about that later
I also have left spaces between links, else they turn into extual links. Everywhere where is a space should be removed when using the code

Instead of the green text you can insert another link of a picture but you have to be carefull the link you give must be of the picture alone.
Spaces in the colored example should be left out, I only did it because else the link would turn into an actual link.
When you don't know either the link is alright or not you just save the picture to your own computer and you can upload it afterwards to for example Photobucket or Imagesheck.
With links of Zerochan you have to be carefull, you can only use the link that has already been given there else it won't work.
Use the combination of URL-code and IMG-code (*) to get a link for a bigger picture.
I uploaded my picture from Imgur which is really easy.
