If the final post of a thread is deleted, that thread loses its 'last post' information instead of reverting back to the previous post. In addition and more importantly, that thread disappears from Watched Topics until a new post restores the 'last post' information. To see this happen, add this thread to your Watched Topics, then post something as a test and then delete it. This thread will cease to exist in your Watched Topics until someone posts something again. Edit: I just tested this, and you may have to wait for five minutes before deleting your post for this glitch to happen. Modified by ataraxial, 05-26-12, 7:15 PM |

I tested it a bit and it always reverted back to the previous post correctly. But yes, I noticed that there are problems sometimes, so it's definitely something that needs to be fixed. The Watched Topic bug has already been mentioned here and there are some more bugs: - incorrect number of topics (after I removed a topic from the watching list with "toggle watching" I still had the old number) - when the last post is deleted and you say "toggle watching" the topic doesn't appear in the list (only after someone posts into the topic, so it's basically the same you said) - when a topic gets removed it's still in the list and you can't unwatch it and the number of watched topics doesn't decrease Unfortunately there's no workaround for it. It will hopefully be fixed soon. |

I believe that if you delete the post within that period, the 'last post' information reverts correctly. Past that period, it will glitch. |

Okay, it does happen more often than I thought, it was sometimes just a coincidence that the position of the new last post was the same so I didn't notice it. After deleting the post the "last post" is still connected with the deleted post (I compared the message ID). But I still can't confirm that it happens all the time. I removed a last post clearly after the delay and everything was fine. A next one in that thread, still fine. A next one and the glitch happened. A next one and again it was fine and the thread fixed itself. Sometimes it already happens after the first last post is removed, sometimes not. I tested it several times and there's no clear pattern. It seems to be the case that there's no or at least less of a problem when the post is removed within this delay. But other than that I don't see a connection to the delay, the removed posts I mentioned above were all made long before I removed them. I think there's synchronization issues between the servers involved and no automatic synchronization/correction is done. So when you click on "last post" it sometimes still sees (i.e., is linked to) the removed post. It's definitely more complex and nothing we can find out easily. |

I see, I was speaking from personal experience when I perhaps implied that it happens "all the time." Looks like the best we can do is just hope that whoever's responsible for fixing bugs can figure out exactly what's going on with the synchronization issues. In the meantime... do you think we could add this one to the stickied thread as well? It's a pretty common bug, and you mentioned that others have reported it before as well. |

As far as I remember it has been mentioned only once before, that's not frequent. The sticky is mainly for questions that come up over and over. And the problem is the more things I add the less likely it is that people read it. |
