Hey, I know that at the moment they are not allowed, but i was just wondering there is any chance for "unpublished" korean webtoons to be added (such as Girl of the Wild's, Tower of God, God of high school e.t.c). I think this would be very beneficial as they are growing in number and popularity, it would be very useful to be able to keep track of them. Their popularity is fairly evident by the fact that of the few that are in the MAL's database, Both Noblesse, and Annarasumanara are in the Top 25. Also if this they were to be added, it might be useful to have a genre tick box for "webtoons" as well Thanks :) P.S. Also if possible, i was wondering why they are not allowed in the first place, is it because they are "unpublished"? |

I don't know if Noblesse is webtoon or not but if it is. then certainly they're allowed in Manhwa category. You can add them in Manga Databse. Moderator will review and approve. |

I tried adding some yestarday, and they were all taken down because - "Does not meet Database Guidelines as it is an unpublished web comic" |

Yeah they're not added because they are not published. |

Webtoons, or webcomics, can be created by anyone, even really shitty creators. Basically, either the country of origin have to release a legit volume of a series for public sale or it has to be sold in a digital volume version in stores like JManga. That way, it's proof that it's good enough to have a large fanbase. i think it's more like that. I may be wrong. Noblesse was rejected MANY times before. people kept sending requests and the Manga Mods got irritated because it never ended. Now that it got publish for retail sale, they finally accepted it and everyone went happily ever after. I know this because i use to have an urge to stalk the manga mods when it came to page deletions and rejected submissions. xD |

Can't we just use have a more lenient stardard, like instead of "it must be published (serialized) in order to show it has a large fanbase" to "it just has to be recognized as having a large fanbase"? I know it sounds vague, but it is the original intention, isn't it? How could we change the standards to make it so that we can account for the popular works that have been ignored up until now without letting in a bunch of random garbage? Take Naver for example. There is a lot of garbage published on Naver, but there is also quite a few notable works being published on Naver that have a huge fanbase like Tower of God, Magician, Orange Marmalade, etc. Maybe we could tweak or perhaps add to the standard to account for the notable works. Maybe we could say that if it is serialized OR it is recognized by another database like manga-updates then it is worth adding to our database here. "It departs in darkness, and in darkness its name is shrouded." |
