The only thing I can really say I liked about the ending was that most of the characters died. The ending was just plain illogical and that made it feel contrived. Futuristic science community couldn't agree whether some genetic mutation would benefit humanity or not. Instead, they just plan a galactic war in the distant future like some bizzare large-scale cockfight, the justification for this being that the mu might turn out to be just as evil as the humans. Victory was the obvious metric for this since we all know that wars are won by the kindest and most environmentally concious people. Of course, they couldn't test whether or not their power level was over 9000 in the comfort of their own laboratory. They needed to engineer a huge dramatic mess that would only ever be able to be acted on by a bio-android who hasn't even been able to see half the battles and probably has little to no working knowledge of any of the factors involved. Why couldn't they just flip a coin if they were this indecisive? Then, to make things even more surreal, there's also the whole idea of hoping that a computer that is programed by humans will eliminate humanities evil. I wouldn't expect a lot of realism in the ending of a space opera, but this just seemed like kind of a crappy way to end what up until then had been a great plot. |

Now that I've (mostly) finished crying like a baby, I can safely say that this is the most underrated anime ever. I wasn't totally satisfied with the ending, but I can say that it was really beautiful. Both Blue and Jomy had to die before really getting to see the fruits of their labor. To see it happen twice is a bit harsh. I don't see why they had to kill off all the elders and Leo. I also think that they killed Jomy off just to make way for the new generation. He was powerful enough to avoid that hit! And somehow to see Physis live through it was annoying. It's not that I dislike her, but when I think about those who died in her place, it just makes me mad. But truly this was an engaging anime that kept me hooked to the very last episode, and whose characters left a lasting impression on me. Props. |

Definitely one of the greater sci-fi epics out there, just under Legend of the Galactic Heroes. I'll happily watch it a second time in a year or two. |

The show started out small, but gradually got more epic (in the traditional meaning of the word) and more tragic. There were a couple of notable flaws, particularly regarding some minor characters being illogical and Keith's timing of his change of heart being to rash, but overall, it was a beautiful show. 8/10. Cried. |

epic in its literal sense isnt enough to describe this. that was painful, tragic and beautiful all at the same time. the more tragic the ending the better and more satisfied i feel with an anime. happy endings are often underwhelming (exhibit A: Gundam 00) they certainly let loose with killing off characters in this episode. im glad the children were part of the ending (and that they were human) i think that was really crucial to the deep meaning this show was trying to portray. that no matter how different people think they are, deep down all that is needed is understanding and compassion to achieve peace. I'm really glad Physis got to live. Lots of tears for Jomy and Keith's final moments. Im glad Keith got redemption in the end and that i was able not to hate Serge's guts forever. Great series. Amazing anime. Anyone who thinks otherwise doesnt understand the true beauty of anime. Overall amazing music, sound and voice acting. The characters eyes were beautiful too. (I judge anime by how beautiful and/or ridiculous they make the eyes - as a contributing factor). Thank you for this series aniplex. Well shed tears. Amen 9/10 |

When they first killed Shiroe, it was the first warning. I braced myself for even worse shocks. Maybe that's why I didn't even shed a tear, despite my unfulfilled wish to let Jomy live to see the fruits of his labor. On the verge of welling up I kept being reminded that they put a spotlight on hope and that I should just rest assured. This has been an amazing journey, through space and time literally, so much drama, heavy stuff like those attempts at unveiling the mysteries of universe. I love the way they packed this, it didn't lose the old-shoujo touch, very fitting scores and well-done animation. Only 24 slots provided but I think they've done it the best way they can. Balancing the focus on two characters of the opposite sides for 12 years starting from their coming-of-age into their positions to decide humanity's future... piling bodies and sanity until a mutual understanding... enough epicness. This stuff is hard to pull off... And considering the circumstances of its initial production, I'd say it's a superbly made. I don't really know how to describe it... but don't you think these older works have some kind of.. charm in it...? I mean I'm watching it nearly thirty years since the original idea first popped out but man the value sticks even harder than most contemporary works. In term of storyline it stays a whole, a big round ball of imaginary universe, well-planned and nicely-executed. Wonderful, wonderful, indeed. I can't help but cherish some characters. Message received. :') 9/10 |

Excellent and very underrated series with great characters and an epic sense of scale. Some things could have been better explained, but overall very good 9/10. |

A great anime, nothing to add. It was a bit hard to get through the first episodes and emo mode Jomy, but after that I enjoyed the show more than I expected. To the very last and that epic ending, that left me trembling from emotions. Definitely the most emotional anime I've seen in last two years. I re-watched it the same month. As for animation: wonderful. It made me re-watch Star Wars Saga ^^ The fleet coming out of hyperspace is a sight of a kind. The outlines are very clear, and the anime itself is a pleasure to watch. As for music: Yasuharu Takanashi did it again. The score is phenomenal, and sounds great not only when watching anime, but also separately. The man knows about what he is doing; you can hear it's exactly space opera anime soundtrack! As for plot: I really liked it! IMHO, it's consistent, interesting and nicely shown. At first, I was a bit confused as to how many years had passed, but when watching it again, I didn't care any more :P And, what's quite rare among nowadays anime, killing most of the characters in the end - both justified and acceptable (= not saddening that much); I appreciated it. As for characters... Ah, they are great, all of them. There's no-one I could despise, even Serge and Murdoch appeared to be all right in the end. Only Physis slightly annoyed me. Most are unpredictable, surprising, complex. And... Oh, God. Keith Anyan. One of the most fascinating anime characters ever. What a titbit for a psychiatrist like myself! Outwardly, a psychopath - but he wouldn't have fascinated me so much if he had been one. It took me a while, hours of intense analysis, to figure the guy out and realize the magnificent split of his personality. A guy who actually believed to be a puppet, ordered to protect the System by any means (and he was fulfilling his duties more than thoroughly) - and who, at the same time, unconsciously, was doing otherwise (saving Matsuka being the most prominent example), striving for humanity he thought he was forbidden from achieving, especially after having killed Shiroe. (I daresay taking care of Matsuka and forming such a strong relationship with him, regardless of - or, precisely because - the latter being a Mu, was an unconscious attempt to redeem for Shiroe's death.) It was so clearly said in the end: "For the first time in my life I did what I wanted". I can't say I >like< Keith, despite him being my absolute favourite character in this story: after all, he is quite appalling and frightening; still, after re-watching the series, I may safely say I like him a bit more now, and definitely feel for him. As for the epilogue: if he was reborn one day, it proves he was a human, right? ^^ I do hope this time he would have a normal life. I know I will come back to this anime again and again :) |

Mixed, very mixed feeling on this one. The plot is just too out there for my suspension of belief. First, Blue's ridiculous desire to reach a place that they know is INHABITABLE is like the most irrational thing I heard for a journey that had so much sacrifice. Well, the other goal is to seek co-existence with the humans but that didn't necessarily involve going to Terra. A more defined goal would just have been to topple the SD operation in the get-go. The entire premise they always throw at you was "no matter what, reach Terra" sounds so weak considering they made so much sacrifice. The Naska episodes with the younger generation also made me question why the Elders wanted to go to Terra so much when they already know it's inhabitable. It makes no sense. Then, we're introduced with Keith's magnificent plot twist at the last episode, and magically, everybody starts rioting, stops fighting, and turns against Mother? dafug? I mean, it was already shown that humans have questioned the necessity to eliminate the Mu, but it felt a bit too rushed, seriously. At the same time, the plot are all things we've seen before. The totalitarian state (in this case entire galaxies) ruled by a machine. The problems of coexistence between a superior new race and humans. The fear, obedience, irrationality, and rationality of human behaviour. While seeing these themes again is a good thing, it doesn't feel coherent enough to be a masterpiece. And the end where the bodies count rose by the dozen where basically all the major adults died almost made me laugh when Leo got trapped. >_>;; Other than the plot, I also had some vague and unexplainable feelings toward the characters. Tony was one big confusion. At one minute he could be a psychopath child or adult, on another a guy trying to understand a girl, on another a fierce loyal companion of Jomy, and on another someone with a huge superior complex. We could sum his behaviour to that of the development of youth especially one with unique powers, but again, I dunno, something was missing. The overall pacing, maybe. Perhaps if the anime had more episodes (like Eureka 7), lacked 3-4 timeskips in the first half or at least tried to explain what happened during that time period, properly explained Blue's dream (and what he knew about Earth other than his excessive yearn to visit Earth, because once the elders saw Earth their questions were legitimately questions I was asking the whole time, it felt like a huge middle finger near the end, really.), dived a bit more development in Jomy RATHER than just letting us see Jomy lose the ones close to him to force development, then perhaps I would like this show better. Walls of texts aside, can't decide between a 7 or an 8 (leaning for a... 8... atm). The show isn't bad by any means, but there really was a potential for that masterpiece I was looking for. It didn't deliver. The dystopian society was one which many people could probably envision - a planet that ran out of resources and severely polluted to be inhabitable. |

This series felt both rushed, and slow, at the same time.. Basically, the scenes themselves dragged on for too long, but from scene to scene things went too fast. Terrible pacing.. Overall though, a pretty good story. Without looking it up, I got the impression it might have been based on a novel rather than typical manga, based on the way it spends so long on one set of characters, and then jumps to another set for several episodes, and then jumps forward in time, etc. in the way that chapters might be arranged in a novel. For an anime I don't think it's a good format.. Looking now I do see that it was based on a 3 volume / 6 chapter manga, so probably more of a graphic novel as I expected. |

I wish this had been more faithful to the manga. Swena didn't exist, Jomy's parents didn't give a shit, soldier Blue's death was much earlier on and made much more sense, so many things were changed... |

It's a shame they chose to end such a great series with a bunch of illogical clichés (as my learned friend above has already pointed out) I too am extremely frustrated that something with 10/10 potential was treated so carelessly. Ah well -still a great show in its own right |

Best character creations I've ever seen. Hating someone you used to like and liking someone you used to hate. Worst of all the show isn't afraid to butcher the characters you do currently like or make you like them before their death. Sometimes I just wanted to drop the show and take a break because I couldn't handle losing another of my "friends" within the anime QQ |

An enjoyable anime. Granted, there were some illogical things and at times it did feel a bit rushed. The ending was a tad bit too constructed and idealistic in my opinion. However, I can't say it wasn't a beautiful one. The passing from the older to the newer generation and the final scene with Keith and Jomy was just great. Overall 8/10. A few convenient plot devices, but an enjoyable anime nonetheless. |

Wow, just wow! To those saying that some of the episodes in the 1st half of the show are a bit slow & boring, you should know it was necessary to add to the overall story, which turned the story into something so amazing yet so tragic, couldn't help but choke up in the episodes where many of the Mu's ended up dying throughout the series, especially at the end. A true EPIC!!! & definitely a damn good gem of an anime. 10/10 |

I loved the show. I really did. But I could see this crazy ending coming :( If it wasn't this rushed and if they had the time to explain better everything that happened I bet I would have given this a 9, not an 8. Anyway, someday I might change my rating to a better one even though it could've been better, you never know haha. By the way, I felt like Jomy didn't get as much screen time as he should. Good anime nonetheless. |

Keith definitely redeemed himself for me. This episode was just brilliant overall. The ending was bittersweet. It was sad to see so many characters die, even our two main characters met their end in this finale. I knew Keith was going to die but Jomy.. Glad Tony was the one to take Jomy's place. I really liked the last bit after the credits. Jomy and Keith reincarnated and get to live as friends. Overall an 8.5/10. I don't think I'll be seeing an anime this good in a long time. Also.. this show is so damn Underrated! |

I still think many of the deaths in this episode were unnecessary. The way it was done, it felt like they died for superficial feels rather than to actually achieve something. Of course Keith's being the exception since, even though he turned out to be very much human, he was essentially a product of the system. And consequently Jomy's too, possibly to allow the Mu and humans to reconcile on equal footing with both their leaders dead. Overall, definitely an excellent series no matter how many times I watch it. 9/10 |

Ending was rushed, this series as a whole needed at least 3 or 4 more episodes to flesh out certain areas within the story. The shift from mu and humans being enemies was way too fast, I assume this hatred and rivalry has been going on for hundreds of years but it's just forgotten in an instance. Another reason it feels forced is because too many deaths are just thrown in without any real weight or impact following them. Characters who've been around almost the entire series are discarded within in an instant. Jomy and Keith's deaths are also weak because of the way they were killed, they both were stabbed in the stomach and instead of doing anything about it they just lay there for awhile and die while casually having a conversation back and forth. It all felt very forced and half baked. I see their intentions and it seems like they have a good idea but it just feels too much too fast. I just didn't feel the impact of all these deaths because they had to force it all into one episode. Overall it is a good show but not one without many faults. The character design, the animation and really the visuals as a whole feel dated and low budget. The story was always the main selling point for me, I find the concept to be a very intriguing and novel one that you hardly find in anime specifically. Unfortunately the characters were never ones I felt attached or connected to. Sure I enjoyed Jomy and Keith at times but nobody else was developed well and even these two could of benefited from a bit more than what they got. It's a shame it wasn't a bit longer, a lot of neat concepts and potentially interesting characters but you can tell it's main focus was the mu/human interrelations and the whole human desire vs objective ruler rather than the specifics of their abilities or the characters on either side. I was close to bumping it up to an 8 a few times but with the way it ended I'm left feeling a bit empty and incomplete so I have to keep it at the score I've had it at the entire time I've watched it. 7/10 for me. |

Epic. That is truly the word that appropriately describes both this conclusion and Terra e. The body count really went up but the sacrifices for this final push were very meaningful. Major props to Murdock for being a decent guy in the end. Although I felt as though the resolution to the conflict and peace made between Mu and humans felt a bit sudden and rushed, as a whole it was not disappointing and the tiny epilogue at the end tied it up nicely. That final scene in the park was quite a surprise, but I think it was meant to show us Earth in its restored state decades or centuries later. It's hard to say if those were actually reincarnations of Keith and Jomy or not, but I'd at least want to believe that their wills somehow survived until Earth was once again inhabitable. And so this concludes the journey to Terra. As a whole I found this to be a very compelling, well crafted adventure that made good use of the issues of genocide, finding one's place in the world, passing on a legacy to the next generation, and the value of life and the Earth itself to us humans. I was glued to this from start to finish and the story it had to tell was very refreshing and a one of a kind. This actually reminds me a great deal of Heroic Age, another very good space opera. The characters were definitely fascinating. Many were flawed, engulfed in their own ideologies, and frankly not that likable in hindsight. But that's probably what made them even more powerful. To think that I would feel for and care about so many of these characters, such as Keith and Tony, despite my disconnect towards them. Keith in particular had to be the most interesting character to me, constantly weighing ration and the things that humanized him such as Shiroe, Sam, and Makka. Additionally, they were able to capture the essence of human nature well, especially those moments of divide between the generations of Mu and their ideal ways of life. I'm usually not picky about the technical details, but this one has forced me to comment. First and foremost, I love the art. Especially the OPs, the character designs are so detailed and visually appealing. It felt like its own unique style while maintaining the anime feeling. Another strong point is the ost, as expected from the composer for Naruto and Fairy Tail. It's ironic how much I avoid space operas and mecha yet how much I tend to enjoy them once I cave in and pick another one up. 9/10. |

This show definitely needed to be longer. These last few episodes were so rushed, it gave the impression that there were so many named characters left that the show, for some reason, needed to kill them off as fast as possible. Also, while I enjoyed having Grandmother as the ultimate antagonist, as it paints the villain as mankind's own creation, it comes across as somewhat shallow as, suddenly, everyone was working together once they figured out that there was a third party they could wreck. I truly enjoyed watching all the characters grow over time, but with a show like this, there also needed to be a longer episode length to accommodate such a move. Paradoxically, there wasn't enough time to show the passage of time. As such, this came off as feeling incomplete with multiple parts taken out and skipped in order to fit the story into a 24 episode format. For what was given though, I'm at least satisfied. It wasn't a mistake to watch this show. |

My Gosh, only Logh can compare to Terra E in terms of nearly EVERYONE dying in the show. Honestly it's pretty impressive, no other shows have the balls to just wipe out everyone out.. To borrow a Quote from Dusty Attenborough from Logh- "“If it were a third-rate TV anime, a dead protagonist can come back to life at the producers’ convenience. But the world we live in is not such a convenient place. Lost lives will never return. Because of it, we live in a world where a life is an irreplaceable existence.”" I was a fan of Keith all along and always supported his decisions and rationale. At the final and most crucial moment he made the most important choice in the show, which not only CONFIRMED his humanity, but actually was HUMANITY incarnate in distinguishing between mindless beasts or machines. Another similarity with Logh is how CRIMINNAALLY underrated it is. This show should be pushing a 9 MAL rating. What a disgrace that this has 8.13 rating, just disgusting. It ended up earning it's 10/10 from me, and I will give it the highest praise possible by confirming that is the BEST POOR MAN LOGH variant in existence. |

When I finished this episode, I was so shocked that I couldn't even cry, so many things happened. But I felt the tragedy. Wow, so sad, yet happy, but it's more tragic than happy. WHY JOMY? WHY YOU HAD TO DIE?! Jomy, Blue, all of my favorite characters died. I was so happy that Keith realized everything that I got sad by his death and I don't hate him anymore. So sad... My heart hurts.... This was the most tragic anime I have ever seen, but at the same time it was happy, I can't understand... Beautiful, absolutely beautiful. I'm glad that I finished this anime and didn't dropped it. Beautiful in many ways and in its message, but I can't take so many deaths and tragedies like this (I personally don't like tragedies and often feel very depressed when I watch one) so I'll rate it a 9/10. Loved it, but it's too tragic for me. :'( |

This was quite a fast watch for a 24 episodes long space opera. The phase was fast enough that I didn't feel bored even for a minute for the whole run. There were occasionally a few gay vibes here and there but nothing too serious that would raise the alarm. Targeting the female audience for the sake of marketing may have been good for them but I highly doubt that those element are present in the source material, even though I haven't read any of it. It may sound like a minor nitpick and is easily forgivable for the good ol space opera. |

I really liked this anime. One of my favourites. I liked most of the characters; Jomy and Soldier Blue were great but the character I was the most interested in was Shiroe, he was such a complex character with an amazing potential. I was so angry and dissapointed when they killed him off so early in the series. Overall, an awesome, gripping show. Sometimes it felt rushed but still definitely worth watching. |

I've just discovered this show a few days ago and was genuinely amazed by it. The topics that were brought up, the character development (especially Keith) were one of the best that I've seen in Anime nowadays. Only bad point is the rushed ending, one or two more episodes would have made this anime a masterpiece. For me it's a solid 9,5/10 It made me want to check out more space operas so I decided to start LOGH, which is really great too. It's a shame that the Art style might stop people from watching it. But I guess it's just the 80's design, nothing you can do about it :/ I want more people to give this show a chance but I don't know how to convince them without spamming all the forum... |

That was one hell of a ride, I really do love adaptions of 80s space shows apparently. The first few episodes were kind of weak but it really established itself about halfway through and ended up being even better then I thought it would be. I really did like a lot of the characters and I thought the OST was fantastic too. 9/10 |

PANDEMlC said: Ending was rushed, this series as a whole needed at least 3 or 4 more episodes to flesh out certain areas within the story. This. But I gave the show 8/10. Because when it was good, it was good. Almost downgraded a few times though. Should have been two seasons maybe. |

The story of this show is solid but there are lots of boring episodes that I almost fell asleep while watching. Good ending BTW. Why do they need to kill so many MU at the end? 6/10 |

There was ONE CHARACTER I loved the most. I watched this anime 3 times because I just loved it so much although it isn't perfect. SPOILER ALERT! After seeing it more than once, I realized more how Jomy's life sucked... He lost his normal life as a human, he lost his parents, he got separated from his friends, he was forced to become a soldier and to lead the Mu's (at a young age), he got stabbed by his friend, Nazca got destroyed and those he wanted to protect have died. When he had went through all that and they had finally arrived to the earth, it was a mess with no sign of life. And also, he died there and he was too young to die aswell. What the hell? :'( That's much worse than sad. But I always feel that he has done a great job. If I could, I would give him the most epic pat on his back. Since I can't, I'll just remember him well. Also the soundtrack "Haruka naru chi" in this episode is beautiful. |

What a shitfest... I mean it's started out kinda good for the first 10 or so episodes but then the timeskips started happening and all this Neska children shit, Sam got literally retarded when he could've been a great character and Keith got real stupid too, he was so much cooler pre-timeskips. Like all the character developments for this show didn't work out well after ep 10 it's like they didn't know where to go but maybe that shit was in the source material too? Had a hard time caring for all these needless deaths too since most of them were not properly developed anyways. I honestly expected this to be great or near level masterpiece since Space Operas are like my jam, LOGH still one of my favorites but I'm not gonna compare this disappointment to that. 4/10. |

RIP Leo, he was a solid character. RIP Captain Murdock, the very manifestation of character development, went from a complete asshole to 40% asshole. RIP Jomy, probably the shortest lifespan of a Soldier. RIP Keith, i didn't like you at all. RIP elders, eh you lived long enough anyways. still completely confused by Physis's purpose to this show. i think this was one of the show's major flaws for me. they hyped her up too much. i was expecting a huge role from her hmm so Blue set up this whole thing throughout the 300 years, and then Jomy was the one who carried everything out, and now Tony will be the one to lead towards the future. i kinda would have liked to see how Tony would be as a grown up, since we only seen him as a child weird clip at the end, Earth was revived and Keith and Jomy reincarnated reunite? so weird. idk if it was necessary. those last moments with Keith and Jomy before they died was almost like they were lovers or something (this whole show was actually Romeo and Juliet, gasp!) mixed feelings about this show, it definitely had flaws. many flaws. but i enjoyed it. i would have definitely liked it to take a different route after Shiroe's death but this was fine as well overall, 8/10. i liked the beginning and some parts of the middle, and they definitely would have gotten a 9/10 from me. but the rest of it was of a 7/10, sometimes even 6/10. too many questions left, this should have been a 30+ episode anime |
