I really have so many project due next week that I have absolutely no time to work on MALgraph now. Since we have grown a nice small community here (over 300 club members!), I guess it'd be okay to leave making and polishing up achievements to all of you. Yes, you! Below you have a few files that MALgraph reads in order to show achievements. List of achievement-worthy titles: That's all, folks! The list is closed for now, thank you for your help. Achievements regarding the average score are hardcoded, so they're not on the list. We have anough anime achievements now and need more manga badges. Brief explanation of the list: - it's a JSON file, so after making changes paste it to the validator and check for errors - in titles list, the only important thing is the ID. the name is stored only for convenience and easier franchise sorting (we could've used comments if JSON allowed those) - the rest is quite self-explanatory, but here's an image to clear things up: ![]() Now, for the badges themselves... Zipped PSD files (I used Photoshop CS5) (2.81 MiB) Zipped optiPNG'd images (357 KiB) I'm not a Photoshop expert and most of the files have a pretty messy layer structure. There's a bonus, unused achievement "Mind=blown" that I wanted to use for Mars of Destruction achievement, but we dropped that idea. This file (anime-mindblown.psd) has the fewest garbage layers, so you can use it as a base structure. We want them to have the same style, so keep the border and rounded transparent edges. To make things a little bitter, I have to say that all changes need to be accepted by me before they see the global light. These are the things that are welcome: - adding more titles to existing "genres" list - adding new genres - but remember that we don't need an achievement for every genre - adding some nice other groups, e.g. studios, directors - adding manga achievements (my suggestions: romance, psychological, martial arts, surreal?) - modifying existing image badges (add background to anime-mecha-1-pilot and anime-ilovethem) - adding fitting image badges to lists made by others I don't want to waste your time and make you work for something that wouldn't be accepted, so please post your ideas in Feature requests before starting. All I can say is that creating a fitting image is painful and usually takes about two hours to finish. We'll probably add "anime completed" and "manga completed" with thresholds: 1000, 2000, 3000, and so on. We don't have images for those, so if you don't know how to help and can use Photoshop then those badges are a good start. Feel free to change anything in the existing achievements, but please note all the changes you've made, even the smallest ones. The last thing that needs to be said is that achievements are meant to be difficult to earn, otherwise they're worthless. This means no badges for 20 anime watched, watching 3 SHAFT productions, etc. - you get the idea. Also, as I already noted, we don't need an achievement for every genre, studio, creator, etc. Think of something unique, something that would stand out and be actually worth mentioning. Please keep that in mind. Thank you for helping us help you help us all. Modified by fri, 02-03-13, 12:51 PM |

Post the notes here. Changelog is a more "official" thread with changes that have already been uploaded. If you've added something then post it here (link to a new pastie), so others can modify it further. We could use some kind of a SVN but I'm not sure if everyone can use it (I'm new to this too). |

Ludicrously large update: http://www.pastie.org/private/4batglykfkhme4gkgmjcba Most of it's the stuff I listed here, though I made a few other changes as I saw them: http://myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=411493&show=100#msg14867045 I had started this before Knightmare made his edit, but if the changes he listed were the only ones he made, they're in this one now too. |

I was just thinking, have you tried asking any MAL admins if they might post a sticky on one of the forums? You could have them put up a sticky titled, "MALgraph Achievement designs". Then just pick out which ones look good. There's an old saying, "Work smarter, not harder". |

We have a few people here that seem to want to help, so such a move isn't needed. It could bring us more bad and childish ideas than good ones, actually. ("hurr durr naruto is so manly he should be in gar list xD", etc.) |

For starters, manga mahou shoujo list. Yeah, I'm really lazy. With a good dig you ought to find several times as many: http://pastie.org/private/qqowfk6do5eurms3ibr7tg I'm not sure if I got the code right, but the list itself should work. Are you going to use them together with anime for thresholds, or will you make a separate section for manga achievements? (since currently we have a common one). |

Er, a suggestion to help with housekeeping of the lists as they get longer...sort by series title before posting to Pastie? Wouldn't be hard to do using excel or something similar, and would help prevent duplicate listings. |

umm... It would be best if you've used the previous version modified by someone else, and modify that one to your liking. Now we have quite a mess, and merging them will take some time... |

Went through and alphabetized everything, squishing pasties linked from posts #14 & #16 together. Thought it might help with how titles are listed when you click the achievement badges, but those seem to be sorted by ID#, so that will still show up out of order. The validator was happy, so hopefully it's all good. Also added Souten no Ken + Specials to Gar (Fist of the North Star franchise) http://pastie.org/private/nmwgfligzlefn4rbomqbva Modified by rocketkitty, 05-25-12, 10:35 PM |

Added a few obscure (and not so much) mecha titles. Also noticed that Jojo animes aren't in the GAR list. THE blasphemy! http://pastie.org/private/j4qzdp4yb1myhrxxyvcuxq |
