The rose colored life thing was really cliche and I think writers made the whole Setakuni Jun story more dramatic than it was. Still a good episode tho. There's alot of holes left in the story that I hope will be covered later on.

I like the hyouka pun tho. "Ice cream" "I scream"

"Sorbet" is phonetically the same as "sore bay."
Bay is a synonym for sound.
So, "sorbet" becomes "sore sound."
Sound (as in bay) is a homonym of sound (as in noise).
To be sore is to be physically painful.
One of the most common examples of a physically painful noise is a scream.
So, "sorbet" refers to screaming.

The bottom line? Sekitani Jun is a fucking genius.

Great episode, I guess this is the end of this arc.
What Chitanda said at the end might mean that she loves Houtarou.
I'm looking forward to the next episode.

That was not surprising at all. Once he said "Ice cream" I thought "I Scream". Simple.
It's just hard because I didn't know what Hyouka meant.

I guess people have different tastes, just like in icecream. This truly was fantastic story-telling IMO. There really needs to be more solving of mysteries like this that aren't supernatural. Same goes for murder-mysteries, or death related, like Detective Conan (aka Case Closed) where the majority of their mysteries are almost always murders.

*Sigh* its amazing what the patience of the average human amounts to...well everyone is entitled to their opinion i suppose, no matter how simple minded it may be O_O

Well that aside is it just me or is Oreki really tall? or perhaps the rest of them are just short?

Pretty nice conclusion for the most part, but I wonder what will happen for the next 16 episodes... I kind of wish they'd move on to a more interesting mystery or at least make the supposedly finished one more interesting. I usually have a pretty big patience for long-drawn anime, but I hope this show will have some sort of nice climax somewhere later on, or at least some more character development. At least this anime doesn't have cheap moe.

I knew "Hyouka" meant something along the lines of "ice cream", so when Oreki mentioned "pun", the rest was easy to figure out.

Quite liked it. too bad it ended so fast. I wouldn't have minded waiting a couple more episodes for that conclusion ~

Ah well. There are a few holes, but I think the uncle thing will be the only hole that will really be worked out. Of course, the real organizer could easily be related to her uncle's disappearance.

I'm wondering what they are going to do the rest of the 16 episodes. Maybe there will be an even bigger mystery to unfold now and and something similar to what happened to Chitanda's uncle happens to Houtarou as well in the end. It was just an idea that struck me while they resolved the mystery.

They can run around solving small mysteries for all I care, I find this show relaxing and interesting. I can't get enough of Citanda, she is soooo cute! >_<

Definitely the mest episode so far!

Best episode so far. As expected from KyoAni.

No OP/ED letting more story and faster pace for this episode.

For people who are waiting for character development, are we even watching the same show? Heck, Oreki already developed really fast in this episode! Especially if you're paying attention to many details (his voice tone changed a bit, he slammed a phone, Chitanda didn't need to pull his hand anymore, and he become more active (and sarcastic) in many things)

LOL @Curious Mongrel. For some reason I reminded of Gilgamesh.

Really splendid animation and presentation there, KyoAni. That rabbit animation and BGM captures the little Chitanda's memory perfectly.

And finally I decided to... I SCREAAM... THE FIRST 5/5~

I'm quite surprise at the number of people who think nothing have happened...

Maybe the animator need to cater to those "special" bunch by having the character always making obvious statements like

"I have changed a little", "She look sad", "He look disturb, which is unlike him", "your excited face didn't differ much from your lazy one"

along those lines... but seeing that some might still not get it... how about?

"If I didn't solve this mystery, Chitanda will be forever haunted by this memory, and Jun's story will be forgotten forever, because I'm such an awesome main character I'm able to uncover the real story."

Seriously... Houtaro alone have change dramatically especially in the last 2 episodes, he even indirectly confessed it to Satoshi.

I didn't understand this "colors" business but it was a great episode overall. I'm glad Houtarou's theory turned out to be right. The part where the revelation of the meaning of the title occurred was beautifully executed. Even I was restless in front of the screen. Animation was as amazing as always too.

Oh and it was nice to hear the mention of the place I live in (Sarajevo), in an anime.

'Rose-colored life' is a phrase that basically means you lived a life that was enjoyable and without problems or regrets. He was basically trying to figure out if a conflict-free life (the sort of life he's basically pursuing) is really the sort of life he wanted. Now, 'rose-colored' doesn't necessarily mean conflict free, but the important thing is that you enjoyed yourself and didn't feel regrets about what happened.

I'm not sure if that made much sense, but that's the best way I can explain it. It's just a phrase that I take for granted in knowing how to use it I guess?

I think I can relate that phrase to one with the color pink in my native language. Still the color business as a whole (with gray, rose-colored, shocking pink and green) is a bit confusing, especially when it's used in the context of Sekitani Jun. I guess I need to pay more attention to related dialogues to figure that out. I think I at least got that Houtarou has been considering changing his color from gray to rose-colored.

Again, Hyouka never fails to win me over while at the same time, making me go "why do I even watch this stupid show?" 4/5 for this episode. Yet another pointless mystery. Really, you could have just asked the librarian from the start? Wasted energy doesn't even begin to describe it. What was the point of everything? Imagine if in Detective Conan, Conan spends the whole episode trying to figure out a case, and then, Kogorou says, "Oh yeah, I forgot, this guy did it. I saw it, but then I forgot." You'd be pissed! What a waste of time! That is what Hyouka does every damn episode. "Well, this mystery seems like a mystery, but it's actually just a matter of asking one person who knows everything." It's not a mystery then! This show's genre is most definitely "gathering information". That is what this show is about. It is about gathering information. And my opinion never changes about this show, either. I like it in spite of the fact that it's fucking stupid. Seriously? "I scream for ice cream"? Are you kidding me? Oreki wasn't joking when he said it was a lame pun. That was the WORST pun I have ever heard. And is anything happening between Chitanda and Oreki? No? Of course not. Well done, Hyouka, you are the first show that I both love and hate. Hopefully you find a reason to exist within the next 16 episodes.
