Honestly that episode was frustrating to watch, and in a way almost annoying. Chihiro was down right irritating as a child, especially to Wanko, so the feelings she has for him don't make sense. Sure love at first site is fickle, but for her to stop liking him and but then realize she loved him all along due to how he saved her from a dog is just weak. It's downright poor, and it doesn't feel genuine at all. Chihiro is actually a bit of a dick, as a child he was shown to only care about and notice things that interested him, and ignore everything else, he hasn't changed a bit. Sure negative personality traits shouldn't be a bad thing in anime, people are imperfect, but here it just feels like a convenient plot device, and it drives me crazy. Next episode looks interesting... |
| Don't understand the hate for Wanko. So far she has more of a personality than Rea. Rea is just... nice. I'm glad we saw more of Wanko's past and her reasons for liking Chihiro in this episode. And lol little Chihiro has the same ridiculous hairstyle. |

| This episode totally established Ranko's cred as the childhood friend (and only friend I should point out). Since this was her episode, I'll start off with some of the questions it raised about her family. Why is her mother so motivated to pair Ranko and Chihiro together? (It looked like one step short of an arranged marriage based on the playdates, visits, and her comments in the kitchen.) What's up with her father? He looked and acted more of a zombie than Sankarea. I'm thinking there is more to the relationships between and history of the two branches of the family than we've been told. As to the lack of interest of Chihiro in his bouncy, beautiful, and oh-so-available cousin, I am developing a theory. (Speculative spoiler to follow:) Looking forward to the next episodes for some answers. Now to search to see if I can find copies of the OP and ED which are two of the many reasons this is one of my favourite animes this season. |

| Haters gonna hate. I don't see why people would prefer some sheltered abashed ditz like Rea over the superior girl with an actual shred of personality. And really, people complain about Ranko's tits all over the place. I believe Rea has been full on naked for at least two epsiodes already. Shame that Ranko's been locked into the typical childhood friend position. Not to mention this show's love triangle is just ridiculous. Incest or necrophilia? Take your pick. Lol at the Dawn of the Dead reference. |

| An episode devoted to the childhood friend! This childhood story was was cliche, but still cute. Chihiro had the same horn hairstyle like he has now. He also was obsessed with zombiesalready. He was actually kinda creepy and very inconsiderate of Ranko. Damn, that idiot Chihiro doesn't have a clue about poor Ranko. Even after she tried to kiss her he acts like there is something wrong with her. Now Ranko sees a new girl take him away because she didn't act in time. But I was wondering; in Japan it's actually accepted for cousins to become a couple? Their fathers are brothers after all. They have the same grandparents. I know it's accepted in some cultures. |

| Lol people hating on Ranko. Please. I loved the development between Furuya and Ranko a lot and was happy Rea was no where near this episode. I happen to like FuruyaRanko and I wish it would happen instead of the stupid anime cliche where the new girl gets the guy instead of the childhood friend. Besides, Rea's probably gonna decompose eventually so Furuya would just get his heart broken in the long run if he got too involved with her. |

| Wow, this was the most boring episode so far. Ranko is such a generic genki girl and her whole relationship with Chihiro is the definition of cliche. Even worse Ranko was an unlikable bitch of a child making this episode a pain to watch. When this show remembers it's hook it's average at best but when it abandons the zombie girl premise it is painfully boring. If this was it's attempt to develop it's characters then I am just sad for this story's future. Really though Ranko is a terrible character. She is a walking fanservice cliche and the anime would be better served to leave her character by the way side because she is nothing but a distraction. This should stick to focusing on the Rea and the zombie part of the story because that is the only thing keep this from hitting rock bottom. The show spends most of it's time ignoring it's hook and never really gets around to developing it. Instead it focuses on it's most boring Ranko like aspects. Such a shame. |

| I like Ranko a lot, but she doesn't fit with Chihiro. He doesn't like her in that way at all. I'm not mad at Chihiro, because he doesn't like her. And he never leads her on either. |

In anime, childhood friends are pretty much always friendzoned. if Ranko can't pick up the hints that Chihiro simply doesn't like her the way she likes him, that's hr fault and hers alone. I don't really see why it's suddenly Rea's fault for entering Chihiro's life and winning his heart. Even if she hadn't come along, I'm sure Chihiro wouldn't have wanted Ranko. Besides, Rea's probably gonna decompose eventually so Furuya would just get his heart broken in the long run if he got too involved with her. I'm not gonna be surprised if he finds something that will prevent that from happening. |

| I don't remember the relationship between Ranko and Furuya getting explained in such detail in the manga but I like it that the anime puts more emphasis on that. While their relationship felt really cliche in the source material, the manga managed to give these characters more depth as the subject of childhood friends, a rather overused trope, was explored beyond a superficial approach. Especially the depictions of them as childs felt quite realistic. |

| I personally like Ranko and Rea but just by looking at the opening you know who is going to go to end up with who. As far as I see it Rea has much more room for character development since she has been deprived all her life and the only side we've seen of her is the depressed sheltered girl. Next episode looks good. Rea's dad sending out his goons to spy O-O. |

| Frustrating episode - I found it both good and annoying. I'm not shipping any pair (I rarely do, but whatever). I find things to both like and dislike about Ranko, Rea and Chihiro. But. in my opinion the story is suffering as it is so far. I think the attraction Ranko has for Chihiro is to forced, while Chihiro and Rea are to one dimensional. Chihiro is difficult to like because of his all consuming obsession. Rea so far has really only been seen as the victim of abuse, neglect and Involuntary manslaughter. Despite the story concept being interesting, I'm just not able to connect the characters to each other in any meaningful way. |

 Well for such an episode I thought it was good. Much prefer the series when Rea is just not there or gone, lol. Really slow episode but better than any of the ones that came after episode three and focused on Rea. They were cool as kids.  I really dislike Rea and just hope that through some twist of faith Wanko is successful in her endeavor. Yasutaku needs more screentime. OP is starting to grow on me, at least the instrumental of it, I dont like the vocals but something about the non vocal portion of it is catchy. |

| It was a great episode, we got to see a little more background on Ranko and Chihiro's child hood and their friendship as well as Ranko feelings. -START- Just soo funny how Chihiro was smiling and Ranko just screaming while watching the movie XD. Chihiro is soo adorable! Young Chihiro cries cute but poor him awwwwwwww. Ranko sure tried a lot but she was really trying to get her way. I loved horror movies since i was a kind may be not common at the age but its normal so me and Chihiro would of been best friends. Lol Chihiro just left Ranko when the dog came but then saved the day! Take that mean dog. Forget you Rinko, Chihiro wants a kiss from a zombie girl meaning Rea so back off. Sigh Ranko must be desperate because she knows that Chihiro really likes Rea so why even attempt to kiss him plus Chihiro had his first kiss already with Rea granted that she doesnt remember that but it still counts. To be honest Ranko doesnt have a chances Rea is way way nicer girl plus a zombie. Chihiro x Rea forever sooo deal with it Ranko! -End- Aww i wanted to see Babu again. Cutest zombie kitty ever!! | Haha, I love how furu looks like a kitten when he was a child, then a mangy cat when he's older. I think this will lead to a inconclusive harem ending or Rea is just gonna rot away and he'll have no choice but be with wanko, although the whole dogs and cats not getting along thing is kinda showing. Either that or she'll be rejected and sidelined to oblivion like most every other childhood friends. As a sidenote, I know wanko means puppy/dog, isn't that nicknaming someone "bitch"? Maybe it's an ironic name given by the creators, since she does bitch quite a bit. Wan wan wan~! |

So far, there are only two girls interested in Chihiro, and I think he'll need at least one more to be building a true harem. And Mero doesn't seem to be romantically interested in her brother, so she doesn't count. The Monogatari series are classic harem fodder. No doubt about that. |

| While I did want Chihiro to stick with his Zombie route so I wouldn't have another derp incest show at the start, I legitimately like the ChihiroxWanko pairing over Rea... only one thing to do, we have to kill and resurrect Wanko to level the playing field. |
