I would like to propose an additional criterion for my anime list: A rating for likelihood of recommendation.
Would recommend: Anime that you would recommend to anyone interested in anime.
May recommend: Anime that you would only recommend if you thought it suited someone's tastes.
Would not recommend: Anime that you would not recommend to anyone, except your enemies.
Reason for this: I think my anime list is an amazing tool, particularly for keeping track of anime I've enjoyed. But, personally, I feel like assigning a rating from 1 to 10 is too fine a scale for me. When watching anime, too often, I notice myself thinking:"Wow, that was a spectacular scene; this is definitely a 10. Hmm, that was disappoint; maybe this is a 8 instead," or "These characters are not interesting, my opinion of this anime has fallen 2 points. This episode is filled with so many tropes this anime can't possibly be higher than a 5."
I understand that what I am suggesting is also a rating. However, it is a rating with a different purpose. I don't want a tool to help me be critic; I just want a tool that helps me share the things I like.
