I found it absolutely ridiculous that my sister would spend time watching cartoons at her age. Oh how little I knew back then. Nowadays she only watches One Piece while I am an anime nerd xD |

Well, I've watched stuff like CCS, DBZ and Inuyasha during my childhood so I always had a positive image of anime. I watched it on and off during middle school (Death Note anyone?) and I really started getting into it last summer. So yeah, I've always liked anime. |

I didn't think much of the medium or the subculture. To be honest, I still have a mixed opinion for a variety of reasons, but unlike before, I do acknowledge that, even taking into account my peculiar tastes, there is a lifetime supply for me to enjoy. Occasionally, I'll even be moved provocatively. |

When i was young i love watching cartoons and when i first saw Sailor Moon, i'm like 'omg, that's so cool!'. I was a big fan of Sailor Moon at that period of time. Now, all i can say is, ANIME FTW! >3< |

My brother would always watch anime on CN. I didn't think much of it before, just kind of "meh whatever". I'd call him a nerd about sometimes. He doesn't watch anime much anymore, and now I do. Lol. |

I didn't think of it at all. I wasn't aware of it but I was always attracted to the less "cartoony" Disney offerings and stuff like Johnny Quest, Superman, Spider Man, X-Men, etc., also things like Heavy Metal. When I discovered anime, I was absolutely smitten. BTW, I was an adult when I discovered it. -animeS - The plural of anime is anime. More than one deer is still deer. There is no damn "s". -epic |ˈepik| noun•a work portraying heroic deeds/adventures covering an long period of time - adjective • heroic/grand in scale or character Active Military, Prior Service, and Veteran's Anime Club http://myanimelist.net/clubs.php?cid=25937&time=1299710079 |

I thought it was completely badass, and I admired whoever knew the "right animes" to watch, because all I could find before I got into it were the overly popular, overly overrated ones. ![]() 「レミ咲が今日のティータイム。」- RemiSaku ga kyou no tea time! |

I actually saw pretty mature rated anime when I was still in grade school (Wicked City, Crying Freeman, Ninja scroll, and many more I cannot remember titles too). I always found myself more attached to watching anime or shows similar to anime than the generic everyday cartoons. Though sadly, I didn't have cable tv as a child (nor do I have it now), so I didn't have any Toonami or Adult Swim as I grew up. Though I had other channels... that aired more mature series.. again... (Uncensored version of Dragonball Z and GT <- omigawd so mach blud, Descendants of Darkness <- Shounen Ai , Fushigi Yugi, Record of Lodoss War, Slayers, etc.). tl;dr: I was aware of anime but didn't take it as serious as I do now. |

First saw Ranma 1/2 at the age of 7, and I thought, "WTF IS THIS SH*T?" and proceeded to think that anime was cartoon porn. I thought that for 6 years straight, until I saw Reborn. Then I got addicted. :D |

My friend told me about her friend who knew about anime. I actually thought it was pretty cool and made an anime picture slideshow (I just googled "sad anime girls") to the song White Horse by Taylor Swift in the 6th grade, and had a pretty fun time. I never really thought much of it, but I was interested. When I eventually found the anime "Elfen Lied", I was ecstatic and discovered something wonderful and have loved it ever since. I guess I was interested in it for a while, before that I never thought much of it. |

In the 1990s, I saw commercials for the usual suspects, then sometimes the toys and whatever merchandise there was. Aside from the art styles that I didn't like, my usual reaction was "these shows look cheesy". It took an awful lot of separate instances of tangential exposure to Japanese media to get over that. I thought people who watched it were weird but I didn't think anime was odd because well I didn't even know how much of it there actually was until I came here and all I knew about was Toonami and Adult Swim. |

The coolest stuff ever, no joke. Though I could care less where it was made (in Chinese cartoon essentially mean animated pictures). Before I got cable everybody was talking about pokemon and dragon ball. When I finally got cable it was like "eff yea IT'S DRAGONBALL AND DRAGONBALL Z!" And oh boy, yugioh was THE shit. So much fun watching that. Used to wait in anticipation for the next weekend so I can get my yugioh/digimon/pokemon fix. |

I was watching tv most of the time with my parents and since my dad liked to watch cartoons, I stayed with him (I was little). I found it really interesting (fun, maybe there were a lot of things that I didin't understand but damn, it was some cartoon moving and doing amazing things, that really can catch your attention). Soon I found myself searching for series on the tv and watching them at the same hour, every day lol <img src="http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y74/anni-chan/firmas/firmatreek-near.jpg" /> |

Besides DBZ, most of the stuff I saw as a kid on TV was redone by 4kids... which probably gave me negative preconceptions before I started actually getting into anime seriously a year or so ago. I guess late is better than never. |
