I'm sure you all know what misanthropy mean. If you don't know what it means, it's a human being who shares a deepen hatred/dislike towards humanity/mankind.

I want to know what your views are on this subject? What would make a person get to that level of hate and why would they do that?

I'm possibly sure that the person would hate themselves. Since they are human after all.

I loathe and detest it.

Hmm..I don't know wat Misanthropy means but I get an idea after reading that.. Umm well, I think if a person has no friends and not talkative and always go to his/her bed and dont wanna talk to anyone, they can get those. There are some girls wished that they were born as a boy and they hate their gender and vice versa. They can also get that if they dont get love to anyone and they often feel being abandoned by this world. If they can't bear their problems anymore, they share that or else they go crazy so they shall be in mental hospital.

Hmm, when a person wants a suicide, they have reasons[not all, some ppl just want 2 die]. Some are so depressed, some have so big problems that can't be esaped, death of relatives may be also a cause of this. I think if these ppls dont want to share their problems/burdens[or whatever] in life, they just suicide or go insane..

Since this is MAL, I think some ppl are just carried away by an anime so that they got depression and they want to live in fantasy, I mean they want to escape the reality so sometimes they dream alot. If she/he has been carried away by an anime, Im sure he/she may dislike himself/herself coz he's so jealous in the anime world.

Well, that's all. Sorry in advance if Im off-topic[well I don't know] and sorry for my bad english. My post will be better if Im a Native English Speaker.

it's for angsty teenagers

a google search of "misathropy causes" will take you to another forum to read the stories of 125 self proclaimed misanthropists here http://www.experienceproject.com/groups/Am-A-Misanthrope/45313. I don't it think can be a healthy or realistic attitude, but some people just don't feel like they belong in the world.

I think most people entertain a misanthropic idea at some point. The other day for example I was so fed up with my personal situation (which I wont go into) I just ended up hating everyone.

Of course not everyone is to blame for society problems, but if you only meet those people then it can seem that way. And lets face it, society is so flawed in the way it's run at the moment. It's easy to become despondent with the idea that humans are all bad.

Ha! I laughed at that one because teenagers now a days are like that.

Your English seems pretty fine to me. There are those people who feel that way. I'm curious if there are people who have a life but still hate humanity regardless.

I believe the full-fledged misanthrope is someone who, more than anyone else, must have had higher (idealized, rose-tinted?) expectations of mankind to have been so sorely disappointed, defeated and repulsed by it.
Many of whom I've met of the misanthropic folks are ironically among the most humane people I've come across, and know how to exercise common sense.

I'm more of a stoic, but like to call myself an optimistic misanthrope at times - mainly because any negative feeling goes full-circle in a sense of bittersweet acceptance that this is life, and there'll always be stupid people, wars, rapes and murders for the stupidest of reasons - as well as there'll always be intellectual and kind people who seek to help pave a way for the betterment of mankind.
I find it more optimal to focus on the latter without disregarding the realities of the former.

It's stupid because I can't imagine how it feels to hate other human when you're a human yourself. And I see no reasons for that too. Must be really difficult to live a life that's full of hate. Hating everyone that's around you is nonsense.

I just went there and that is laughable and depressing at the same time. I'm not going to lie but I have some misanthropic thoughts but I'm not there to become a full blown misanthrope. There are things that are lacking in my life but it's nothing to blame everyone else for. I don't hate humanity entirely, but there are things I wish we could learn/change in today's society. I don't know but mankind is lacking something in a way.

Lol! I love those misanthropes man. Actually I love experience project. Sometimes I just caught up reading stories there, because so many of the people using that forum are so warped. Its study in psychology to browse that place. So many peope airing their grievances about everything.

There must be many unfortunate events constantly taking place in one's life, or not moving past previous tragedies, who truly believe this. I don't see how they could go on living with that philosophy. I mean sure, I can get really hateful toward people on a daily basis, but at the end of the day I'm a person too and I've made the same mistakes.

Oh my god! you are incredible! I have mention that earlier and it is so true and in a sense losing faith in humanity can work as well. Thank you so much for even bringing that up.

Well I don't hate every single human being but I do hate the "institution" that is mankind.
