The confession scene was great, nice to see the love confession not dragging on. However, I'm really enjoying how jazz seems to bring all of the characters together. Either way, I predict it's going to get very real and emotional from this point on.

I love when guys blush for 80% of the series and then confess, but gotta say this was very refreshing, I like how Kaoru is so honest with his own feelings.

Haha, yeah that's right, I didn't even consider that, thanks for pointing that out. Man I really wanna read her description after that Jun-speculation now..

She's probably just tellin' it straight as she heard it, really is no reason why she would straighten out a mess of an invitation from two 'almost' strangers, even if she knew :P

Kaoru embraces his new found social freedom by confessing to his love! Will there be any repercussions for this former introvert turned jazz musician? I can't wait to find out :3

I'm getting worried...

The pacing is really really.. fast!!

It was a REALLY cute confession, but it was soo sudden.

Usually when confessions happen too soon n an anime it doesnt really work out );

Kaoru stepped up to the plate to resolve the misunderstanding which was refreshing to see. I did felt this episode was more drama driven vs comedy but that's ok.

Gosh, I was thinking it was really cute and funny. But then WTF melodramatic and I'm all worried that something terrible will happen.

I realize he's modeling, but wtf is Sentarou doing..? And whut! Stupid Sentarou for saying that Richie invited her.
But he was so damn cute. Had to pause one or twice because I was too excited. XD

Gosh. I'm Richie x Ri-chan fan though. :O (But I love Sentarou!)

Hope it's a good ending though... I'm loving this so far.

Best or 2nd best of the season!!

5/5

When Sentaro asked her to hang out it was adorable.
Richie's confession was cute as well.
What were Sentaro and Kaoru evEN doing though when he was shirtless? lmao

I hope things turn out well and this doesn't turn into some crazy sad, dramatic story. :L

Haha, Sentaro was too cute getting all flustered like that. ^^=

I'll admit, the pace is worrying me a little bit, but it's refreshing to see a series that we know won't be dragged out til the very end. That'd be too slow. Things do seem to be alright now since there's still a lot to reveal and a lot of ways for all this to go horribly wrong. ^^V

I don't think Ri-chan is looking Sentaro's way becaus she's in love with him, think there's another reason.
Don't think this one is as predictable as other animes these days.
I think she's just concerned for him, since she knows this is the first time he has fallen in love and she doesn't want him to do something he'll regret.
And she wishes to be loved too, wish she is and knows now.(probably not exactly like this, but close).

I really hope I'm correct or at least that it won't be just becaus Ri-chan is in love with Sentaro.
It'll be interesting of course, but it's been done.

Note that she paint that "lover's rock", and about using Sentaro as a model is not for artistic purposes, it can't be. At least she in playing with him. I wouldn't be surprised if that scratch don't was accident.

Sentaro suddenly being shy made me laugh while the misunderstanding got on my nerves. Thank god Kaoru had the balls to confess, good job.
I still don't know what I should think of Ritsuko's behaviour, is she jealous of Yurika because Kaoru invited her (her assumption), is she annoyed by Sentaro not paying attention to her or is it both??? Why did she cry and what was going in the whole scene about the handkerchief, it turned into serious shit just like that?

I actually think the anime portrays the emotions of the characters very well. Sure it's fast paced, but I wouldn't say it's a bad thing in this case. Although the focus seems to be on romance right now, I think overall, the main theme will be traced back to friendship.

I'm SO glad Kaoru confessed this early before any further misunderstandings between him and Ritsu . It would have been your typical romance if he hadn't done that. Well played Kaoru. Great way to confess playing a piano piece as well.

I'm not sure if it's a translation/cultural discrepancy, but it's not the first time I've noticed this.

Why do anime characters say they 'love' someone when initially confessing their feelings? I'm sure all of us Western folks can agree doing that in real life is probably not the best idea.

When Kaoru said 'someone here loves you', all I could think was 'woah there, one step at a time dude'.

"Suki" basically means "like", can be used for liking things, food etc. and liking someone, i.e. the person you love. It's just common to use it, "aisuru" is way stronger than "suki", you won't here that often in anime since most protagonists are teenagers, kids, juveniles or rather young adults. It's not a mistake if translators then use "love", it's used to clarify the meaning behind "suki" since you can still like people without loving them.

Oh I was speaking of only the relationship between the main three characters, no speculations beyond that. I don't feel the other two angles are important, at least outside of aiding development, as they aren't listed as mains. I don't even remember who Jun was until you mentioned it.

Lovely episode , finally i have been drawn into this . A main character that actually understand the whole love situation . Now thats awesome . Im so getting tired of those protagonists that have no idea that there are like so many girls around them that likes them . Also the realistic feel of this episode really touched my heart. Liked this alot more then the first 2 episodes. At first i thought this show would only be focused on jazz music. but the addition of the romance really makes this show totally enjoyable.

^pics and stuffs

Things I liked:
-Kaoru has more balls than almost every other male lead out there
-Yay jazz
-Sentaro is still a boss
-Ritsuko is actually mature about this whole love issue. She isn't being a pushover, but at the same time she knows how to not play the pity game.

Things that confused me:
-The passage of time. How long has it been since Kaoru started practicing that piece by ear?
-Yuriko trusts Sentaro a lot, going as far as to be a nude model for her.

The second half completely flipped my expectations. The first half was worrying, in that it was quickly degenerating into your typical and generic love triangle/square, whatever. And then, the confession happened. What a beautifully directed scene that was.

In a nutshell pretty much.

I have a feeling Richie will help out Ri-chan to convey her feeling for Sentarou. Since Richie feels that he can't beat the infamous childhood friendship, he'll probably be forever alone.

There's also a possibility that Richie's cousin might like him since previous episodes shes been secretly watching him play the piano, and having him play a song for her. Idk just guessing lol

Then, if Yurika ends up liking Jun and Jun liking Kaoru's cousin we're all set.

I get really sad when I notice that I wasn't the only one surprised by how quickly things progressed. It tells less of this work in particular and more about the state of the industry. We're all so used to romances going very slowly that we're caught off guard when it goes in a pace that isn't that fast at all, if we really think about it.

It's not a mistake if translators then use "love", it's used to clarify the meaning behind "suki" since you can still like people without loving them.

Although, in this case, if you listen, when Kaoru says "know there is someone here who loves you" he says "daisuki", which is stronger. It's more like "love", though still not quite on the same level as "aisuru", which is like "I'm IN love with you", and has a deeper meaning. "Daisuki"'s also still not as uncommonly heard as "aisuru", to be sure, but it's still rarer than "suki" and I've been told is avoided often to avoid coming on too strong. (Even when dealing with something simple as saying "I like oranges". xD)

...Ah whoops, sorry to go on like that, aha.
But I feel like it was worth noting in this situation, especially since this show has so many lovely little nuances. Something maybe to think about. ^^;
Maybe he wanted to strengthen his "suki" to be absolutely sure Ritsuko wouldn't misinterpret things again? Or he's just very serious about it. Either way, it seemed very heartfelt.
Ahhh, so cute~ x3
