So I love watch anime, but I kinda want to read manga as well. Now, my question is; Is it worth reading the manga AFTER watching the anime? Or should I simply find new series that I haven't watched anime of yet? Thanks in advance folks ;) Signature removed. Please follow the signature rules, as defined in the Site & Forum Guidelines. |

Since an overwhelming amount of anime don't actually come to a close and just "stop" while the adapted manga is still ongoing, it's definitely worth reading the manga after that to see how the series actually goes on and finishes. |

Yeah it's worth reading. The manga usually contains more material that wasn't covered in the anime. Finding new series is good too since there are many great series that haven't been made into anime. |

Absolutely yes. For example, you seem to enjoy Rosario+Vampire, and I can tell you that the manga is definitely superior to the anime. I think you'll enjoy it a lot. |

Yesyesyes. In fact I rarely watch anime that has manga adaptations now because the manga almost always has a longer lifespan. |

I do this only when the anime stops and the manga continues like Eyeshield 21, Tsubasa Chronicles etc. Just started reading One Outs after finishing the anime too...but say an anime like Prince of Tennis, I know a few things are different from the manga version vs the anime version. But they just are so close that I really don't feel the need to read the manga and the manga was adapted from beginning to end. Usually I just research the differences between the anime and manga, if I find them miniscule then I don't bother... Modified by Abbyrose, 04-21-12, 9:54 PM |

The only manga that had an anime based on it that I watched was Rosario + Vampire, which started out good, then started going downhill at the start of Capu2. Volume 4 was when I decided "F**K this, the anime is better". Yet, people consider the manga superior (which I don't get why). So, I can't say for sure. You might like the manga, or you might think the anime is better. |

I believe ultimately; it's all dependent upon the series. A good amount of the time an anime is not so faithful to the manga, which in that case I would watch the anime first. If the story is faithful to the manga then by all means the manga, in my opinion, is best read first. Then again, each reader has their preferences. |

If you really liked the anime, you totally should read the manga. Almost always that is better anyway. :) List to Metrox => http://www.myspace.com/bandametrox |

A lot of the time, yes. I was terribly disappointed by the ending of the Skip Beat! anime, and was thrilled to see the story continue in the manga. |

probably not... unless the manga continues and the anime does not, but you would want to start where it splits O.o unless your cool with being told the same story twice, that's not so bad sometimes ![]() |

Uhh.. That depends for me. If the anime already covered the whole series then you don't have to waste your time reading the manga anymore because the truth is the anime is longer (because of fillers) and that's it. But if the anime is finished but the story isn't then go ahead and read the manga. Or just continue from where the anime left off. But sometimes anime changes things so I suggest.. Just do both! Haha. |

Yes, it's often good to switch to the manga of an anime you liked(and it probably finished or is airing slow for you)... |

I think you should read the manga if you really liked the anime, since it would be easier to get into a storyline that you were already familiar with than starting a new series. |

Happens only if the anime ends too early and so i start reading the manga to get another view of the story which is usually worth it since the story continues on and you have something to look forward too every single week unless the series is already completed. |

I feel like if the series had a conclusive ending in the anime and you were happy with it, there's usually not much need for me to go over to the manga even if it continues on. The exception being episodic stuff like Mushishi, in which case I only read what wasn't animated. So, I try to pick either the anime or the manga from the start, usually whichever one is better received, and only read/watch the other one if they're both significantly different. I *usually* prefer whichever one came first, though there are a few exceptions to that rule (I liked first FMA much more than the manga, but since they were quite different, I did experience both). And then, if I'm happy with the manga, I don't usually see much point on checking out the manga, not when I have other stuff I could be reading/watching, right? It's really up to each person individually, I would take a favorite series, one with a full adaptations, one with a partial, and try the manga for each, see if perhaps it's only worth it to you to read the manga for something with a partial anime in the future. |
