LOL that was EXACTLY the first thing I thought of. Maybe he got tired of being upstaged by Phoenix and decided to enter the navy XD

Calling it now - AO is an alternate universe, Scub Bursts are large chunks of Scub Coral "bursting" through into the universe that AO is set in, from the end of Psalms of Planets Eureka Seven. This would explain several discrepancies such as dates, lack of heart on the moon, and the vastly different levels of technology between KSE7 and AO.

it was specifically clarified as not an AU

Pretty interesting Ao maybe kinda of wimpy but i like how he doesn't back down and grows a pair in the moment :P,only thing i'm wondering since we know Eureka is his son when the Doc said when he saw Nirvash * have you returned..* does that mean she could still be alive? because i guess hasn't really been confirmed if Eureka was dead or not.

I love how Ao is a lot like Renton; somewhat wimpy, but confident when it matters.

This show feels a lot like the original's first two episodes so far, just in a somewhat more serious tone.

SDF stands for the Special Defense Force, which is the name of Japan's armed forces. I'm not sure what UOA stands for, though.

Interesting episode, Ao looks quite different with the hair color change

Is this a direct sequel? Maybe I should finish the first season.

I think I found some sight in this ep
first, they said that this scub burst is the biggest one after "10 years ago"
does that seems weird to you guys? It's not referring to 2nd summer of love that happened because of Renton and Eureka.. From my calculation, it should be happened "14 years ago" (you see, Renton and Eureka was disappeared for 1 year and Ao is 13 now)
so something had happened when Ao was 3 and that's why Renton and Eureka disappeared..
Also, I'm disappointed they didn't even show 1 of the old characters in the op ( exept nirvash spec 3, that's all)..
Hope it's only for blurring the story so it's not easy to predict it..
Somehow, I miss gekkostate, Linck, Maeter, Maurice, Dominic and Anemone

Uh you forget something. Renton and Eureka could not conceive Ao at the end of Eureka Seven. THEY WERE STILL KIDS

Awww yeah, that was awesome overall. Really got some chills from the music + mecha action, it's such a great feeling. I think this was even better than the first episode.

Though it left me wondering, will we see the trio founding the Mark 1 in the cave since the "head" of the trio said "why don't we go to the cave for old time's sake" or so...? The episode just kinda let that out, so I guess it'll show in the next one. Started to like Ao's character, too "It's not lost! Pick it up" dat attitude, nice one.

Can't wait for the next episode!

And since we're all about color changing - Ao's hair: hmm yea he definitely isn't Eureka's kid trololol

But it's the original color in the cover picture.

One thing i don't get, and i hope is touched on sometime soon because it kinda bugs me. Those talking about color scheme changing of the Nirvash etc etc.......

Just gonna throw this out there.

Still.....I hate alternate universe endings and sequels, and i hate time travel sequels, because it just makes it seem like "Ok, so the original is garbage and never happened" after all that work went into the original. So this has to be a direct sequel with no separate universe or anything. Otherwise that'll make for a trash script.

I don't enjoy this series at all. Some ignorant, selfish brats are doing things like maneuvering a robot with no guidance or anything, the main character has to be reminded about the G-monsters and the corals and acts as if he's got an IQ of 60. Oh damn I flew to the coral accidentally! Duh... The ship captain doesn't seem adult at all since he wants to shoot down the smugglers which owe him a missing part and the girl's father speaks of her friend in front of her tent and just thinks that she won't hear it or won't act.

Dropped even though I have enjoyed the similar anime Rinne no Lagrange.

I guess it's too bad for you, then, that Japan seems to love making use of alternate universes in many of its sci-fi stories. And I'm pretty sure they, on the whole, don't see the use of said plot device as being "bad" or "trash."

Once again - really?
I liked Rinne no Lagrange as well, but this is much much better. Pay attention - and half your claims are debunked.

HA You're hilarious. You did not bother reading what i said. I said, alternate universe SEQUELS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IDNGAF if the WHOLE plot is centered around an alternate universe, but a sequel to a series that is set in a universe apart from it IS trash. These are often called spin-offs as well, not direct sequels.

really liked the second episode, even though i'm a bit skeptical of how this whole sequel thing will work out. considering that the original E7 took a while to become really awesome, let's wait and see.

one thing that comes to mind though, and i had to look this up ... at the end of the E7 series nirvash tells both renton and eureka that half of all living beings will go to an alternate universe and will return once humans and corals (?) "become one".

considering that eureka and renton had a happy ending and ao is very likely their child ... wouldn't ao himself then be the reason why corals come back?

WOW. SO. MUCH. LOVE.

Another fantastic episode.

I am still leaning toward time travel, direct squeal just seems unlikely at this point.

SO MUCH CONFUSION! Okay, so it is sounding like Eureka arrived at the island 10 years ago... But Ao is 13 and according to the doctor he is a child of the island... hmmm... or maybe she arrived on the island 13 or 14 years before and something happened to make Naru's dad blame her for the islands trouble...
This episode has left me with even more question.

CAN'T WAIT UNTIL EPISODE THREE.

I really like how their handling this show. The characters pretty interesting so far. Ao looks to be an awesome lead with him already having the will to fight and the problems he faces are external rather than internal. I also think it will be fun trying piecing together how this series fits with the first so I’m a little more excited to watch it now than before.
