Could any one you help me come up with a list of romance anime couples? The more recent the better. I know of the popular ones like tomoya/nagisa, kyo/tohru, etc but I am needing some from underrated series and newer series. I appreciate any help on this. P.S - Only list couples that come from an anime that actually has romance in it and the couple truly is interested in each other. Thanks :) |

I'm sorta new so I don't really know what's popular and what isn't, and I also don't really know what's newer versus older. However here are some I can think of Araragi Koyomi and Senjogahara Hitagi from Bakemonogatari. I found their romance refreshing because there wasn't some weird tension or anything; they were going out from very early on in the show, but their love still steadily grew. I would say this is romance at its purest. Juuzawa Juu and Ochibana Ame from Denpa teki na Kanojo. I found this noteworthy because their relationship was relatively un-romantic for the span of the show, but it showed promise. I liked the relative laid-back relationship they had with each other. Their relationship is similar to in Mirai Nikki (which I also found interesting), but the two characters were a little less... Insane... Kurahashi Eiri and d'Auvergne, Cossette from Cossette no Shouzou. I only watched the first episode and stopped because I really couldn't stand it, but their relationship was noteworthy. I have to say I personally disliked the excessive and unexplained blood, but people seemed to think this was romantic. I have to agree that it is at least noteworthy. Asaba Naoyuki and Iria Kana from Iriya no Sora, UFO no Natsu. This was not my favorite romance ever, but the relationship between the two characters was interesting. They were in love with each other, but it was not over the top. Their relationship is on the rocks for a couple episodes, and it's much more realistic of a relationship than an average sappy romance. However, the ending of the show left me confused and irritated as to why they would ruin a perfectly fine romance by turning it into a tragedy. Most tragedies hint at the fact that a couple can't be together, and have a generally sad tone, but this one did not. The boy and girl were living a dramatic life, and then she randomly died. Maybe I should have seen it coming because they mentioned that her destiny was to defeat the aliens, but I didn't know dying was a prerequisite for that. Riku Aoba and Sayuri Amamia from Tokimeki Memorial: Only Love. This was, in my opinion, the epitome of a happy-go-lucky harem anime. It's a pretty predictable story, but the relationship was still romantic. Those are the first random couples that popped into my head, but there are others too. The newest ones I can think of are: Tsubaki Akira and Urabe Mikoto from Nazo no Kanjo X, Furaya Chihiro and Sanka Rea from Sankarea, Kanoe Yuuko and Niiya Teichi from Tasogare Otome X Amnesia, and Chitanda Eru and Oreki Houtaru fromHyouka. I'm not that far in Kimi Ni Todoke, but the relationship between those two seems both romantic, and extremely chaste. |

I'm just going to post couples from series that you haven't seen. Yusaku and Kyoko from Maison Ikkoku. This is an older series but still one of the best romances I have had the pleasure of watching. It deals with a lot of heavier topics. Sakura and Syaoran from Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles. Essentially, this is CLAMP taking from their earlier success of Cardcaptor Sakura, taking the series and putting them in an alternate universe, but I still find myself loving these two... Just not as much as I did in CCS. Ran and Shinichi from Detective Conan. This isn't a romance anime, but it most certainly has romance in it. There are plenty of episodes where their relationship is the main point and watch just about any of the movies and you'll see the strength of their relationship. Personally, it's one of the stronger relationships I have seen and I think it would have a lot of potential, if only the writer would focus on it rather then the mystery of the week and keeping the series running after so long. Couples that I do feel are truly noteworthy from series you have seen would be, Sakura and Syaoran - Cardcaptor Sakura Aoi and Kaoru - Ai Yori Aoshi Nagisa and Tomoya - Clannad Yuuko and Yuu - ef A Tale Of Melodies Sousuka and Chidori - Full Metal Panic! Tohru and Kyo - Fruits Basket Mikan and Natsume - Gakuen Alice (Although this is mostly because of the manga) Victorique and Kujo - Gosick Kagome and Inuyasha - Inuyasha Shiki and Kokuto - Kara no Kyoukai Togame and Shichika - Katanagatari Sawako and Kazehaya - Kimi ni Todoke Sana and Akito - Kodomo no Omocha Ryouko and Ryoushi - Ookami-san to Shichinin no Nakamatachi Megumi and Shinichi - Nodame Cantabile Haruhi and Tamaki - Ouran High School Host Club Ranma and Akane - Ranma 1/2 Kenshin and Kaoru - Rurouni Kenshin Romeo and Juliet - RomeoxJuliet Holo and Lawrence - Spice and Wolf Haruhi and Kyon - The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya Simon and Nina - Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann Ryuuji and Taiga - Toradora! Louise and Saito - Zero no Tsukaima |
