Good adaptation, I prefer the manga, though. You simply can't read all the diary entries, they pop up for only 1-2 seconds. I really wonder why they omitted the last pages, there is no other reason than in expanding it for an OVA and making money. I still haven't read Paradox and Mosaic but I guessed one of them would be the next project. |

WTF where's my HAMMER?? If only they make it a few more seconds longer in the end... I hope the "next Project" is an ova the continuation of the ending. I'm really disappointed that they didn't show the two of them reunited. I have read the manga, but I want to see the part where they are reunited being animated... And of course... the HAMMER!!!! I thought I would give this series 8/10, but because there's no HAMMER ending I'll give it 6/10... Modified by amc9988, 04-16-12, 11:15 AM |

If I ever write a novel, I would definitely name one of the characters Deus Ex Machina so whenever I'm stuck, I'll just do an asspull because hey, he's Deus Ex Machina! Still, I liked the series overall. 9/10. |

Mirai Nikki is a funny case really. There are a lot of things to dislike about it. Too many coincidences, too much plot armor for the main characters, a lot of twists that make no sense upon close inspection. Honestly storytelling wise Mirai Nikki is a mess. However, a strange thing happens with this anime a charming, quirky and often disturbed cast elevates everything about this series. Without this cast Mirai Nikki would just be another poorly concieved story that gets lost in the sea of shit anime. The best thing is the anime fixes some of the problems of manga but it also accentuates some of the others. First and fore most the characterization is so much better in the anime. The omake skits at the end are well used to give some insight into the characters but the anime goes beyond and adds to some of the diary holders' stories to actually give them some development beyond their basic characterization allowing us to feel some sympathy for them usually before they meet their Dead End. If we're talking Mirai Nikki, anime or manga, it's all about Yuno Gasai. She is a whirlwind of death and destruction, wrapped up in a crazy yandere package. Yet if that's all there was to her then she wouldn't be so compelling. However, Yuno is a much more complex character to that. With her past revealed we find a twisted insane girl but one that is that way for a reason. Her love for Yuki starts out a bit generic and bland but it actually grows and develops over time. The relationship is always volitle but her feelings for Yuki at the end are clearly not the same as they were in the beginning. Yukii is often the center of a lot of criticism and it's not all unwarrented but he is necessary to make Yuno shine. Without Yukii there could be no Yuno. She needs him to play off of. That's not to say Yuki is a good character. A lot of the time he refuses to develop in any meaningful way and even when he does he usually reverts back to his old useless self very soon. I do give him some points for stepping up in a couple of cases such as saving Yuno when fighting 6th. However, the series wouldn't have been nearly as bloody if Yuki had learned his lesson and manned up earlier. By the end the body count that was racked up because of his failures is huge. In the end I think Yuki does learn his lesson as his sends himself into exile refusing to create anything new. I think he locks himself in this prison as his way of atonement. I'm not sure it's the clearest here but that's how I read the ending. However one thing the anime doesn't fix is the ending. It's overly complicated and convoluted there's no reason that things had to get this complicated. [2:01:47 PM] MariusthePerformer: All it does it bog down the narriative and take the spotlight off the characters which is a bad thing. The last two episodes have a lot of character drama however there is so much other crap going on it's hard to focus on all of it. This a a pretty good case of bigger is not always better and if you're going to write a bloody violent story don't create alterante worlds so you can undo all the violence at the end and give all the characters happy lives. This was a dark and bloody story and there was no need to go back and change everything in third world. It would have been enough to focus on the psychological and dramatic ending between Yuno and Yuki. After all this anime has been about them so it should focus on them at the end. Instead it gives the spot light to too many of it's characters as it plays out it's convoluted plotting. Overall it's hard for me not to like Mirai Nikki despite all of it's flaws. The characters are fun and if I turn down my logic a little I can even enjoy all of the ridiculous twists and turns this anime has to offer. Mirai Nikki is an anime where it is saved by it virtues because they heavily outweight it's numerous flaws. 3 out of 5 for the last episode 7 out of 10 for the series |

Finally finished watching episode 26 and Ill give it a 9/10. Not bad and since there was alot of talking about a hammer, I checked it out in the manga and that gave it a better ending. Overall, it was great and I def enjoyed watching it. Looking forward to this special project. |
