The characters seem to be listed in a random order whenever you look at an anime and sometimes you can't even see the main character there unless you click "more characters"

What? Characters should already be ordered with main characters on top.

Dragon Ball's main character is Goku.

I see Krillin, Bulma, Yamcha and Muten Roshi, not Goku (unless I click on "More characters")...

Yeah that's the sort of thing I'm talking about, what warrants Krillin being at the top? Are characters just arranged randomly?

arranged by mains, then by if only a single name for them is known(such as Krillin with no last name) then alphabetically which is why the first two are Krillin then Yamcha

But when I go on the Naruto manga page characters like Fuu and Tora (lol) are above Darui for instance, when all three are supporting.

Even if this was too much effort to implement it could even be sorted out first in main characters and then in order of popularity. That way the main character would most likely be at the top or at very least the character most people will be looking for.

Just having some "importance", maybe a 0-100 score this could be solved. So gent you get to add a character you put this importance score and in the main anime's page they are shorted starting for the one with the biggest score ( in it's respective Main/Support sections).

It would help people like me who sometimes watches anime because a character looks appealing, is awful when you get to know that it barely appears after having watched the whole thing lol. People could get a idea of how frequent is a character's participation just taking a look in the character list.

It could be done ordering the characters for favorites, good idea.

I'm Italian, so forgive me for grammar errors.

Yeah, I also thought how I didn't like that they weren't ordered properly.

Sometimes they don't even have the protagonist (the main main character of the whole show) in #1, the first column...

I also agree about this!

So any update on whether this would or could actually be done?

If all the characters are sorted by importance, plot significance, number of appearances etc, then it'll end up spoiling too much. For example, if a character that seems important for a few episodes dies, and as such is identified as "supporting" instead of "main", it would seem suspicious to the viewers who have not yet seen the character's death.

Just because a character dies early on that doesn't make them exclusively a supporting character. If they are a main character for the episodes they are in, they should still be listed as such.

I was positing a hypothetical. I wasn't saying that it should happen, rather that it can happen. And if it does, it'll be a source for confusion.

lol if you want to think that far, you might as well skip opening sequences (e.g., H.O.T.D.).

It doesn't need to be all the characters. Just the main one's would be enough.
