THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.

Good episode.

Introductory episode for Aquila Yuna. She is introduced first as a rule-abiding model student, albeit too narrow-minded. And FINALLY, no more mask wearing. (LC kinda did this with Yuzuriha because it's awkward for a protagonist). I hope they abolish the rule because the original regulations concerning female saints was just lame. Sure, various theories exist such as Athena originally didn't allow women, etc. Mostly is really just a poor excuse for concocting the episode between Seiya and Shaina in the original SS. I'm glad finally a girl decides to defy that lame regulation.

So here comes the question of female Saints in SS universe. Why don't we get female saints that reach Gold rank so far? One explanation could be that all the gold saints are supposedly reincarnations of souls and they were always male... (>_>) I have to admit SS is definitely not trying very hard to hide its mysogynous views...

Back on the episode we get to see a fight between Aquila and Dorado (portrayed as swordfish).

Next episode: more school settings and introduction of Ryuuho.

Enjoyed the episode as well. Highlight of the episode was the flashback of the five originals :-) Looking forward to the next episode.

I don't know the answer to this, but I wouldn't mind seeing a female gold saint. Not the strongest but with decent strength. That would be a nice change...

Many possible explanations and related issue:
-Females may have been originally excluded from the Saints so women had to wear masks to be treated like men -> implies inferiority
-This means the role a female plays is very limited in the career of a Saint (i.e. misogyny)
-The gold saints are always reincarnations (or from a selected pool of souls) of past Saint. It happens that none of the past Gold Saint were female.
-Athena wants the Gold Saints to be her harem (joke)

At the end it just sums up by the fact that the original series was running on Jump and gender equality was not the main issue of interest. It had to follow Tezuka's Star system as well... and clearly it was biased.

I'm glad that at least we got a female protagonist this time (like with Yuzuriha in LC). Both are considered alternate versions (non-canon) so you go figure.

I heard sometime ago that Pisces Aphrodite and Virgo Shaka were supposed to be female Gold Saints, but Kurumada changed their genders after some pressure.

Well it makes sense. Just look at their cloths... But then bishounen was deemed an attracting factor more profitable than bishoujo at that time.

Wow Yuna is definitely the worst saint in this. Hopefully Kouga and Souma get all the screentime and the dragon one looks cool, cant wait for the next episode.

Yes. Mens with pointy boobs xD. It can't be a secret that those masked warriors were women.

Yuna's nice, and i like her spinning bird kick... but thats about it. Lets see if she proves to be usefull, and not only the token chick.

Loved this episode and this gives me hope for the show as the first 2 eps haven't been all that hot. Well the first ep wasn't all that bad tbh it just wasn't all that. Yuna looks to actually be one of the best characters so far which is surprising as I thought her personality would be different. Great to see a second female challenge the mask law.

You haven't seen all the saints yet though so how do you even figure that. Also why would you want Souma of all people to be one that takes all the spotlight when he and Kouga or what makes the anime bad so far? Mind explaining this one and before you say it I know its your opinion but its one I'd like to know.

Good episode. Saint Seiya Omega doesn't seem to be bad as I was expecting.

But something is bothering me ... is Aquila Yuna a silver saint like Aquila Marin or a bronze saint?

I think I'm one of the few people that like the school idea. It opens many possibilites for the plot. Who wants to bet there's a spy in Palaestra? Haha..

Bronze. Omega constellation classification is slightly different.
