I had entirely forgotten the first episode. Huh.
We've also learned about Vash's scars. There's only one thing this can mean. Think about it: trenchcoat, spiky hair, robotic arm and parts, probably a rebuilt person, appears to luck out on every situation they find themselves in...

Vash is Inspector Gadget.

Just a basic recap episode, but hey at least we got to see Vash without a shirt. No, not like that you pervs, i was talking about all the scars and stitches he's got going on! Crazy right?

I swear he's a robot! I'm 99.5% sure!! How else could he prevent aging and turn his arm into a gun?????

Arf, a recap episode, way to kill the momentum after an awesome episode. Through, the end made it for. The insurance girls make me laugh so much, even if I know it isn't a popular opinion xD The cat also crack me up, he's so silly and random, he add nothing to the story, but he just add a little more absurdity to this world. Also, after seeing again the scene were Vash desactivate the engine and when he desactivate the robot, it make me believe even more that he is from the future or that he is very very old...

Other than the ending this episode was just a recap episode which is actually useless if you're marathoning this... the ending was still quite interesting and hilarious though!

yeah worth skimming. I guess re-caps make more sense in the era before online streaming video/downloading, when the average TV viewer can catch up on a series they come in late on.

Half way point!

I don't really mind recap episodes, at least there was some other scenes rather than just pure recaps. I noticed that I love all of the main characters but I don't like any of the side characters that turn up for one episode ... they're just too boring for me.

This is why recaps should be done like Kill la Kill's version. 2 minutes tops.

A recap episode that had a reason to be so, it was okay, they mixed it with some new footage at least.

Vash had so many scars! Most of them really bad, in the real world he'd have gotten a super bad infection by now, I mean hardly any of them were sewn up. He did look a bit like Frankenstein lol.

Still he's got a pretty rad body <3

Meh. Pretty bland. All it is is just Meryl recalling Vash's past expierences and getting all energetic and reacting to some of them. I am not a huge fan of Meryl and Milly seems a bit too idealistic for me.

The ending didn't make up for it, Vash tries to help a stubborn woman and the girls fainting to Vash's scars.

It was a summary episode.

It was nice to see Meryl's side of the story and hear her narrate the tale, but the recap focused more on the beginning than I would have liked it to. Meryl really likes Vash, and he has a lot of scars that show the price of peace. That's kind of the point of the series and was just touched on in the last episode. Millie had such a great line, "I can't leave you two alone together".

I'm assuming a lot of the 1s for this ep are from people who have never seen another shounen before and don't know what a recap ep is or people who skipped it because that's just what they do with recaps. Usually I'm like that too, especially in shounens like HnK, where by the end of the first season they had like 4 of them during the span of 20 episodes. I decided to watch this one however, since it had been a while since I saw the first 3 episodes. I'm really glad I didn't because for a recap ep, this was exceptionally great. It kept the flashbacks short and had a character narrating their thoughts during it. Plus some great new interesting content at the very end. IMO it's the right way to make a recap ep since it keeps even binge watchers from being absolutely bored.

I think that recap done here was good but the most importaint part was the last minutes of the episode. Those scars really showed to me how much Vash actually had to go trought to become the legend he is wanted for.

But damn, I don’t remember an anime character who has even a close amount of scars compared to this.

This was a very enjoyable overall and it was really nice that there were a few new things in this episode despite it being a recap episode for the most part.

Seeing Vash's brutal scars from all his battles which were mostly acquired from his unbending resolve to follow his No-Kill Rule was very humbling. Even if it seems like a tortured soul lies under the facade of a smile, I would still like to believe that Vash's cheerful demeanor is actually a part of his true nature.

As far as recap episodes go, this is very well done. It was also great to see all the scars that Vash has on his torso alone.

though to be recap episode, it was well done since they inserted meryl's opinions, and also highlight the important parts.

the looking on his body was surprise though, and i get the feeling that he hide more than we see in his body.

Yeah, recap episode, bound to be sorta boring but hearing Meryl's commentary on the earlier episodes when she didn't know Vash was Vash was pretty funny

Also, what's up with a lot of the comments here being from 2020? Seems kinda random

Not surprising it's a lot of summary as it's halfway through.

I liked how it was from Meryl's standpoint we got to see her thoughts on Vash a bit more.

This might just be the best recap ever in anime though I haven't seen that much tbh. The two in HxH were really boring though so if the majority of recaps are like that then this was awesome because we did get to see something new too.

It's not the worst version of a recap episode I've ever seen, and, at the very least, we do get a lot of important information at the end there.

Having whirlwinded through the first 12 eps, I actually really appreciated this recap episode for reminding me of all the badass moments Vash had so far. I fast-forwarded through the parts I didn't care for. The sequence at the end was worth a whole episode itself anyways, as Vash's body tells a detailed story of his past as it is.

I will say this despite us having a fantastic episode before this, this is just a recap episode. I don't hate it, it's just okay, it did it's job as a recap episode in the form of Meryl typing up her report essentially. It's a lot of "Here's some of the cool scenes that happened in the show prior to this episode." And granted they ARE cool scenes but if I wanted to watch them per say, I'd just watch the respective episodes they are from. At least they are interspersed with Meryl's thoughts on those events, her commentary as it were which I thought was a neat little touch and we do ultimately get the ending of the episode where we actually see Vash's body all fucked up from all the scars he's got which does make me wonder where he got them from in the first place, but ultimately this is just a recap episode. The only thing your gaining from this, is the ending just see it for the ending. Again it's not good, it's not bad, it's just okay as an episode.
