Elfen Lied it's one of my favorite series.The story is original,the music is exceptional,the characters are well constructed,I'm just sorry it has only 13 episodes.

Love the story line but who was the shadow that was front of the house at the end of the episode?

10/10 for me

The shadow in the end was properly nyuu. We saw lucy lose both of her ears in the last episode and when the shadow came to the door it showed that the music box which lucy loved stop and the clock which nyuu was interested in start. This suggest that once both ears had been knocked off lucy was dead and only nyuu was lefted.

as for the killing soilders and leaving the other guy alive, i didn't really thing about that because i didn't really think it was important =/

Huh, that does make the ending sound a little better.

Still, not the best series I've seen, kind overated in my opinion. 7/10

Great series. I loved it. If anyone has seen the dub, I want to know you're opinion on it. I personally loved it.

I watched half of it dubbed just because I happened to download the dual audio. I'd still prefer the original Japanese, but the dub wasn't bad from what I remember.

I've never seen such a bloody anime other than Hellsing! There needs to be more gory anime made~

I loved this anime. The characters, the plot, the art, the music - all so awesome!



I watched it dubbed! ADV did a pretty amazing job on it.

I really liked it, however the ending left me really empty, and there was a lot of things that didn't get revealed :/. Like what happened to Lucy or that organization. Also who's knocking on the door at the end :P? Please tell me if you've read the manga (if you even get to know, I keep no track on it :p)...

it shoudl have been a 26 epp serries. they didnt reveal a lot of things and at the end you just feel like there should be more. over all i liked it but they could have gone more indepth with it.

I thought it was a great series, everything was wonderful from the opening to the ending of every episode. The characters were great( Yuka first annoyed me but I ended up accepting her), the action was awesome and I love how they were trying to experiment the combination of comedy, drama, horror and gratious violence. And I really am not dissapointed about the ending of the series, I thought it left room for your imagination and for more storie, in my opinion it was the perfect way to close it all since the anime ended before the manga. And I believe that this series has one of the best anime opening ever, and a fantastic musical score.

this one is soooooooooo overated, i didn't like it at all, but i have to admit, the "drama" made me laugh so much, it does get better at ep 5 or 6 but it's still tottaly overated 4/10 bad anime, i didn't like the drawing style, and watching the dubbed version made it worse, if you want some real gore watch gantz, or Shigurui (or something like that) oh and by the way gantz has a ending.

.. which was very well done though, the last episode was the best of both all 26 episodes.

I had no emotional attachments to the story or characters. A lot of the stuff YourMessageHere said I can agree with but it wasn't bad enough for me to tank the score so I rated it just above average.

I overall liked it but the excessive fanservice made it difficult from me to take it seriously. There were too many "innocent" scenes in which Nyu runs round naked and/or feels Youka's breasts for my taste.

The story came together nicely at the end, 8/10 for me.

Having just finished the series, I finally see what people on both sides are taking about.

On one hand, I can easily see why people call it overrated. The comedy/romance was often badly done and lacking. There were too many plot holes, and the characters weren't developed as far as they could have been.

But then I can see why it's so often called a masterpiece. The series was made to impress. Because of this, there were flaws, but it did its job. It impressed, especially on a visual shock level. This does not make a masterpiece, but the drama (well, haters will call it melodrama, but whatever), the plot at its barest elements, and other elements brought it close to the masterpiece title.

As for me? I loved it. I did notice the flaws, and they bothered me enough that I couldn't give this a 10, but I absolutely loved watching it. Every time I finished an episode, I immediately wanted to see the next one. I grew attached to some of the characters, especially Lucy, Nana, Mayu, and Kurama. The "deep" aspect of the show was limited by plot holes, but it does raise many interesting questions (at least to me).

Personally, I wasn't bothered by the violence. I was expecting to be, but after watching Higurashi (which I feel is much better than EL) the blood here just seems over the top and rather silly. Seeing bones bothered me a tiny bit, but that was about it. I don't think I winced during the entire first massacre.

Lucy was, at least to me, an incredibly interesting protagonist. She wasn't "good" in the least, and she didn't truly repent over most things at the end. You don't see that much. While her romance with Kouta was fairly ridiculous, it was understandable at the same time. After all, he was the one who first really showed kindness to her and didn't retract it, unlike the girl at the orphanage. While he made a mistake in lying to Lucy, in a way this showed how highly he thought of her in that he didn't wish to hurt her by saying that his cousin was female. It was admirable, even if it did turn out for the worst.

Ah, look at that. I've gone on a tangent again. My apologies.

Anyway, I really honestly enjoyed watching this. 9/10 for me.
