Hey guys, I'm looking for an anime with romance as well as action. Preferably where the male character is defending the female character even when he is badly injured. If you have any suggestions please let me know, but nothing that I have already seen (on my anime list).
Thanks in advance.

Tsubasa Chronicles is a good one. The whole premises is a hero trying to regain the love and memories of his love while engaging in battle with various people. Very romantic. Another is Rosario + Vampire. He's a human trying to protect this powerful yet gentle and meek vampire girl from these other powerful monsters. Um maybe Chobits. The main character is a guy in college and he doesn't really get hurt but he undergoes many financial and social sacrifices to keep his girlfriend around which just so happens to be a robot (a very cute and adorable one) they slowly fall in love.

There are lots of anime like this. I'd say just close your eyes and chose an anime under romance and chances are you'll have one in your liking.

Haha, I'll do my best to not be repetitive. Also, you'd have gotten your recommendation whether it was asked in a thread or in the comments.

The anime that immediately comes to mind is "Rurouni Kenshin" which is already, conveniently in your ptw. I won't go into details for obvious reasons.

Another one is "Chrome Shelled Regios". This anime, set in a post-apocalyptic world, is a bit heavier on the action but the romance, while subtle, is charming.

And of course, we can't forget "Yu Yu Hakusho". A legend of it's respective genres. This anime is nearly as action packed as DBZ (as impossible as that is!) while at the same time the anime has a respectable plot and a pretty decent love story that was a real tearjerker at the end of it all. The one downside it it's pretty long...
