Tiger & Bunny is my exceptions to my dislike of mecha. But I wouldn't really label it mecha anyway since both suit wearers have superpowers.

I normally dislike shounen because I've wasted so much time watching Inuyasha, Bleach and Naruto expecting there to be more of a plot, but here's the thing. I actually like the characters and universe in those animes it's just they never go anywhere because tehy are too busy having monsters of the week, fillers, and overly drawn out fights. I've enjoyed FMA (haven't watched brotherhood yet) and Inuyasha Kanketsu hen simply because with a limited amount of episodes theya re forced to move character and plot relationships forward. I'd actually watch more shounen if they had the sense to be of a regular length.

On the other side of the scale, there's one peice, which i've only watched the first 3 episodes of, but has been decently fun just because it doesn't take itself too seriously.

Seikon no Qwaser. I don't like unnecessary fanservice, but i sat through the entire first season and actually enjoyed it, boobs and all. Shocked the hell out of me.
Second season i can't say the same about.

I know almost everyone and their mother hates School Days, but i enjoyed it, and i'm not even a fan of the boring school-life romances. Perhaps it was the gory ending, but i ended up liking it for what it was.

Kuroko no Baske is a current one. I'v never liked sports. The only other sports series i'd bothered watching was Prince of Tennis, and after a while i got bored and never touched the dreaded sports genre again- that is, until i gave this basketball (my second most hated sport) bishounen series a chance. Glad i did.

Also this doesn't necessarily count because i don't hate the genre, but i went into Kimi to Boku as a newbie to Slice of Life expecting the most boring crap ever, but came out of season 1 wanting more and really liking the characters.

I usually don't like Shoujo anime but I have seen a few but in the end the only one I really liked was Ouran High School Host Club
and before I liked slice of life parody anime, the only anime I liked in that genre was Seitokai no Ichizon

but in the end, I still hate slice of life Shoujo anime unless it's really funny but slice of life parodies became one of my favorite anime genres all thanks to watching random funny anime clips on YouTube

Seitokai no Ichizon
As a child, I was told that society is a melting pot of talents; knowledge and experience combined to form important alloys that will contribute to mankind. When I got to highschool, however, I thought that it's more like a river in which the water represents our peers while we ourselves are the stones in the river. Constant erosion by mindless majority sheeping has made us lose our unique edge. After I hit the age of 18, I realized that I've been wrong all along. Society is no melting pot. Society is no river. Society is a person, a very skilled rapist, and he has fucked us all.

Ef a tale of memories. I hate overly dramatic stories about high school kids complaining about how "tough" love is. But for some reason I liked ef... Can't really explain why

I usually find mecha reeeeaaaally boring, but Full Metal Panic! and Break Blade both kept my interest.

Full Metal Panic! because the interpersonal relations are mostly interesting, and Break Blade because it had fantastic mecha combat.
