I love how people are quickly jumping to the conclusion that Bakuman is about to end. While the dream between Azuki and Mashiro is nearer closer don't forget they have a bit of a rivalry with Eiji, plus I've seen no indication or sources saying the manga is going to end ... surely if a long running series as going to end we would have multiple sources/articles about it right ?

On topic with the manga, I think its awesome how Bakuman basically reflects the people of life. From the trolls of the internet who don't believe in the meaning of happiness or have hearts to the manga readers at school who understand how most shounen manga work expecting the manga to continue with some sort of new enemy like "gray" to drag it on.

With the Reversi done with and fulfulling its goals I assume we'll be looking at a small fast forward to hearing Azuki's voice on the anime before we proceed to the wedding, I can't wait to see how life changes for them now they have fulfilled their dreams.

Well no.
It's possible for a mangaka to not make the ending date public, just like Ashirogi did this chapter. In some others case they advertise it a few chapter before it actually end (like 3-5 chapters before the actual end).
And some attention whore mangaka will tell you months before it actually end.

You sound like the people in the classroom who were arguing whether or not reversi would end or not which turned out to be true. If bakuman is continued past azuki and mashiro's wedding it's going to get really boring since the whole idea of the series is seein your dreams come true. They might stretch on to the fact that they still want to beat Eiji but I can only see that goon for 10-15 chapters because i think they already beat him with reversi. The idea of the past few chapters is the artist should be allowed to end a manga when they want to so...

Thats actually a very good point and I had not thought about it in that way, with resources today usually news like a series ending comes out one way or another ... then again never had much experience with it and manga.

True true, I see a difference in this though since with Reversi the idea of it was to defeat the main foe and people contemplating a whole new fought altogether to keep it going like they do with other shounen series (ex: Bleach with the Fullbring arc). I suppose the way I see it there would be some loose ends if they ended it right away but now that I think about it other series have done the same ... (My head hurts now)

Reversi ended nicely IMO. Like it was said here we couldn't follow the series so the ending can't leave such an impact on us. But I can magine that it must have been huge for those that read it. I always loved unpredictable endings like this so if this ever gets its own series irl, I'm sure I would love it. Although I'd much rather see PCP than Reversi. BUT I feel like this went a little too easily. The whole chapter gave me that feeling. I mean, the editor in chief agreeing, the anime stuff being happy about it (in the end), the ending being popular and very well received, the authors being satisfied with that. It felt a bit... I don't know... TOO slice-of-life-ish/ordinary/boring and too perfect. I felt like it was losing its rythm. That being said, I wonder what manga they will make next and whether Bakuman ends after Mashiro and Azuki marry.

It really does seem its going to end, why would they show characters we barely remember just all of a sudden, if i was a mangaka before the manga ends i would probably show the secondary characters so people remembers who they are. besides this, there is a lot of hints about it ending. i though it wasnt going to end some weeks ago but now I changed my mind.

Epilogue highly likely next chapter...

And yeah, the Reversi's ending felt "weak" for us maybe because we never really learned a lot in the actual progression of Reversi. Along with it, comes ending of Bakuman too... But I see the author's point of view right now, it just doesn't feel like worth it continuing Bakuman anymore.

I mean, they've reached an ending pretty much and it's just going to be repeating the same "oh we gotta win, we got guts and stuff" if they tried to continue Bakuman further and it'd be hecka boring... Good time to end the series at this point.

Why it is going to end, a list by me:
1. They have beaten Eiji in the questionarries.
2. With them ending Reversi it is strongly suggested that they will go above Eiji in sales, thus beating him in all areas.
3. It is strongly suggested that the ultimate goal of the manga will be completed very soon when Reversis anime starts and Mashiro can marry Mihou.
4. The other characters have taken a backseat the last, idk, 50 chapters? They dont really have any big sideplots for any other characters going right now, which fits good if Bakuman is going to end.
5. The ending of a series is not always announced long in advance, as you've also seen in this chapter.
6. It is strongly suggested several times during the manga that Reversi will be Ashirogis ultimate piece. Having them create another, more ultimate piece, would ruin the whole Reversi arc.
7. During bakuman, there have been strong suggestions that prolonging a manga is "bad". Why would they then go ahead and prolong Bakuman?

Perhaps i've forgotten some indications, but w/e. I'm not saying it will end in the next chapter, just soon. They have some things to take care of, like showing us how the sales really go, having a talk between Ashirogi and Eiji, the wedding etc. But this is all the "ending phase" as i would like to call it.

You heard it from me first!

I agree with you completely except for 6th point. You're forgetting one thing. This is about authors' life so any fan of Bakuman hardly wants them to end their career with Reversi. It's clear that they HAVE TO continue with something in Shounen Jump (since it's the focus of the manga) after Reversi ends. And since it would be just stupid if they made worse manga (that would kinda kill the point of getting better), they have to make something of at least equal quality. IMO that would be the perfect moment to end the manga (even better than/as good manga as Reversi that will last long and can get an anime). But I do agree that this will probably end soon since they are slowly reaching their goals.

meh I don't really like the ending or lack of resistance from the editorial team. especially the stir and trouble they caused when their other series ended.

they should have had to come up with a new plan for a series already.

I really don't care for the wedding, I'd like to see what their next work would be and the actual manga they make in more detail.
